Lord Jagannath’s Badagrahi Jagannath Swain Mohapatra on Thursday expressed displeasure over the usage of old ornaments during the regular rituals of the Holy Trinity over the years even if there are more valuable ornaments stored in the Ratna Bhandar of the 12th century shrine.

As Lord Jagannath and His siblings are away in the Gundicha temple for their annual nine-day long sojourn and will stay there for a week, the silver cladding work of the Singha Dwara has begun.

In 'Adapa Mandap Bije' ritual, which is observed a day after Rath Yatra, the deities are taken into the ‘Adapa Mandap’ inside the Gundicha temple. In fact, ‘Adapa Mandap’ is considered the birthplace of Lord Jagannath and His siblings. 

Pahandi is of two types-Dhadi Pahandi and Goti Pahandi. 

For the uninitiated, a total of 148 festivals are celebrated in the temple annually. Of them, 12 are yatras, 28 are upa yatras and 108 are festivals. 

At a time when complaints of unscheduled power cuts are pouring in from different parts of the state and the residents of Puri city and devotees were a worried lot, Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena’s assurance came as a huge relief for them. 

As per the timetable, the Parimanik Ticket Darshan started at 8 am and will continue for an hour. The Parimanik Darshan ticket holders will enter the shrine through the South Gate.
