Tightening its noose on traffic norm violators, the Odisha Police will launch a special drive across the State starting from today. 

The Commissionerate Police has also collected a fine of over 60 lakh so far from various offenders on the charges of consuming liquor at public places in Bhubaneswar.

The Commisisonerate Police has undertaken a special drive against those who drink in public places, especially near eateries, dhabas and outside liquor vends. The drive was carried out in different parts of Bhubaneswar in the past 48 hours, senior police officials said on Sunday.

As per Odisha Police officials, 645 wanted accused against who warrants had been issued were arrested in Balasore district, 547 wanted in Khordha district and 278 each have been rounded up in Kandhamal and Cuttack districts.
