Modi is among the thousand dignitaries from across the world to participate in the state funeral being held at the Nippon Budokan arena in central Tokyo.

This is only the second state funeral held in Japan. The other was for former Prime Minister Yoshida Shigeru 55 years ago.
Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by the LTTE terrorist in 1991 during the poll campaign in Sri Perumbudur in Tamil Nadu. He was killed by suicide bombers on May 21.
Sharing a picture of a recent meeting, he said: "Sharing a picture from my most recent meeting with my dear friend, Shinzo Abe in Tokyo. Always passionate about strengthening India-Japan ties, he had just taken over as the Chairman of the Japan-India Association."
Abe was shot in the chest twice while delivering a speech in Nara around 11.30 a.m. local time Friday morning.
Sugata Bose, the grand-nephew of the legendary freedom fighter and Director of Netaji Research Bureau, described Abe as a great admirer of Netaji.
