Warne, 52, died of a heart attack on Friday in Koh Samui, Thailand, sending shockwaves around the cricketing world.

Warne took 708 wickets in 145 Tests, the second-most in the longest format after Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan. He retired from international cricket in 2007 after Australia made a clean sweep of the Ashes.

Former Australian wicket keeper-batter, Ian Healy, had said on Saturday that he wasn't surprised by the leg-spinner's early death.

The reports added that Warne was found unconscious "with the historic first Test between Australia and Pakistan playing on the television". It said the legendary spinner was holidaying at a resort in Koh Samui, Thailand "as part of a rare extended holiday" and was scheduled to travel to the UK on his commentating assignment.

The Great Southern Stand at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) will also be renamed in honour of Warne with Victoria's minister for tourism and sport, Martin Pakula, making the announcement on Saturday morning after consulting with Victoria premier Daniel Andrews, MCC Trust chairman Steve Bracks and MCC CEO Stuart Fox.

Warne's sudden death shook the cricket world on Friday and tributes have been pouring in from across the globe.

Warne made his Test debut against India in Sydney in 1992 and followed it with an ODI debut against New Zealand in Wellington in March next year.
