Launching a fresh attack against the BJD-led government, the saffron party said the untoward incident in the southern Odisha district, which prompted the State government to impose curfew and snap internet services to bring the situation under control, has left a black spot in governance in Odisha.

According to sources, the internet services have been suspended for another 24 hours till 10 am tomorrow to prevent misuse of social media.

“If we live in a disciplined manner, the situation will become normal like as it was earlier. I would like to request you all that you should maintain the brotherhood and coordination,” said Satyabrata Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary, Odisha.

Speaking to the media after reviewing the situation, DGP Bansal said, “A relaxation of two hours each in the morning and evening is there. For ASO examination, we are in talks with the district administration so that aspirants do not suffer.”

Addressing the media after reviewing the situation with Sambalpur SP, Bansal said the curfew will remain in force in the district as a precautionary measure.

Launching a broadside after the party's fact-finding team returned from violence-hit Sambalpur, BJP leader Biranchi Tripathi said, “Police used to provide security during Hanuman Jayanti, but why the same was not given this year? Why no action is being taken against a particular group for breaking the law?”

The preliminary examination for the recruitment to ASO posts in Orissa High Court is scheduled for April 16.   

While two of the miscreants were arrested for arson in Budharaja area, three others were arrested in connection with a stabbing at Maya Bagicha area that evening.

The accused, Subasish Pal, was allegedly taking the bribe from a contractor named Debendra Puhan at the office of the postal superintendent when he was caught by the officials of the central agency.
