According to sources, four miscreants barged into the house of Sahu and opened fire three rounds of bullets at him.Sahu received bullet shots on his head and chest and was rushed to Rourkela IGH in a critical condition. Doctors declared him brought dead, sources said.
Though the exact reason behind the firing is yet to be established, it is suspected that the attack might have been fall out over some dispute regarding monetary transactions, sources said.
Police along with a forensic team have inspected the spot to collect evidence in connection with the incident. A motorcycle has been seized and probe has been launched to nab the assailants.
According to sources, as many as 13 villages and Rajgangpur have been cut-off from the Steel City due to the bridge collapse.
While the engineering department of Rourkela has already started inspection of the bridge, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) will reportedly start construction of a bypass road from tomorrow to connect the villages.
Meanwhile, RSP authorities said that plying of heavy 16-wheel vehicles on the bridge led to the collapse.
As the operation spanned on to the seventh day today, officials of the Rourkela police, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), fire fighters, CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) and RSP’s technical team continued their search to trace the final body.
On June 3, nine youths from Rourkela’s Shitalpada area had entered the RSP waste outlet tunnel No. 9 while attempting to steal scrap from the plant. However, four of them got stuck inside the tunnel while one more youth who went inside to look for the missing four also went missing.
In another development, Supervisor of DD Builders- the construction company engaged in Bariput stone quarry at Jeypore was released on bail on Friday evening, less than 12 hours after his arrest in the morning.
The supervisor was arrested in connection with the death of two JCB operators in a stone quarry mishap on May 31.The body of Sanjay Das of Khuntakata village in Athgarh district was recovered from the debris on June 14, body of Ghanashyam Guru of Deogarh was retrieved on June 13. The two labourers had got trapped inside the stone quarry after the hill suddenly caved in while they were excavating boulders for the ongoing Telengiri Irrigation project in Bariput of Koraput district.
Meanwhile the rescue team comprising Rourkela police, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), firefighters, CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) and RSP's technical team have continued their efforts to trace the four others.
"My brother was drunk when he entered the tunnel. I request the administration to find him," appealed Manju, relative of one of the missing youths.
On June 3, nine youths from Rourkela's Shitalpada area, had entered the RSP waste outlet tunnel while stealing scrap metals. However, four of them got stuck inside the tunnel.
"We have been able to recover one body so far. The place is dangerous even for the rescue team. We have requested the higher officials of the plants to ask their technical team to assist us understand the plan of the tunnel so that efforts can be made to recover others," said a police official.
Rourkela Superintendent of Police and senior official of the plant are overseeing the rescue operation.
As per information, nine youths of Sitalapada in Uditnagar had entered into RSP premises through the disposal tunnel to commit robbery at the steel plant.
Though four of them had managed to come out, five are still said to be trapped inside the tunnel.
Earlier, four youths had entered the tunnel on June 3 and as they did not return, two others again entered into the tunnel by tying ropes on their waist to rescue the trapped ones.
However, one of the two youths got struck in the tunnel and was subsequently rescued by locals while remaining five youths are yet to be traced.
Locals alleged that anti-socials are frequently entering into the plant premises through the tunnel and are looting steel items and later sell them in market.
“The plant authorities have not taken any steps to check such illegal activities. No security guard has been deployed at the site for which people manage to sneak into the plant through this disposal tunnel to with an intention of loot,” said a local.
Some of the agitating security guards of Top Guarding Services Pvt Ltd barged into the Town Administration department's office in protest of non-clearance of their salaries pending since January.
Around 200 security guards have been engaged by the RSP for surveillance and guard different places within plant township including IGH, parks and other vital installations.
The situation was brought to control only after RSP officials announced to take a decision on fulfilment of the demands of the security guards by 5 pm today.
M. Nibha, an agitating woman security guard, said, "We staged the demonstration as we had not received our salary for the last two months. Besides, we are also being asked to work overtime without no extra compensation."
However, SK Barik, official of the private security agency, stated, "We discussed with the General Manager and he has given an assurance to look into the demands."
A 5-member team of NCST led by Chairperson Nand Kumar Sai had arrived in Rourkela today to address the issues of the displaced tribals. It has been alleged that neither the plant authorities nor the district administration have come forward for their rehabilitation and resettlement. Besides, RSP has not provided jobs to the tribals as promised.
"It has been more than 60 years that we have given our land to the plant and all the displaced families are residing here in Tangarpali. We even don't have the land documents of the current place and are dependent on a nearby farmland for our livelihood," said a displaced tribal.
After meeting the displaced families, NCST Chairperson said the Commission will be forced to take stringent measures if the government does not taken any action.
"We hope the RSP, district administration and State government jointly take steps to resolve issues of these people. The people who have provided their land are unable to avail proper road connectivity; they are demanding formation of a panchayat but it is not heard; there are no proper education and healthcare facilities for them," he added.
"The officials of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) - may it be any IAS officer or any other person- will face stringent action. We could have ordered proceedings under Atrocities Act as it is a case of harassment," said NCST Vice Chairperson, Anusuiya Uikey.
According to sources, nearly 150 metric tonne of hot liquid spilled in the melting shop causing a fire mishap and damaging machinery worth Rs 1 crore.
Meanwhile, three fire engines have been deployed to douse the flames. No casualty has been reported from the spot.
It has been alleged that the Chief Inspector of Factories & Boilers, Odisha is not performing his duties well and the RSP authorities are not taking adequate safety measures.
"RSP presently seems as guardian-less, each department is headed by a General Manager working for their own interest and are not concerned about the benefit of the plant. Monthly review in the plant by the department safety committee, central safety committee, departmental production committee and central production committee is not being undertaken since last 30-40 years," said Rourkela Shramik Sangh (RSS) general secretary Prashant Behera.

Air connectivity to the steel city under the central government’s ambitious 'Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik' (UDAN) scheme was scheduled to begin this September but due to lack of CISF and Fire Services facilities the AAI had dropped Rourkela from the list of selected cities included in the first phase of the regional air connectivity scheme.
After the intervention of the state government, the Rourkela Steel Plant authorities have agreed to provide necessary CISF personnel required for operationalising security services at the airport. Similarly the state government has also given approval to deploy required Fire Service facilities at the aerodrome.
Following the approval of the state government, the AAI has given green signal for the flight services which is likely to begin by October end.
Meanwhile, city residents have welcomed the decision by the AAI. “For welcoming big corporate houses and industries to the city we need better air travel facilities. The launch of commercial flight services from the city will increase the revenue of the state and will also help in the development of Rourkela,” said former president of Rourkela Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Subrata Patnaik.
"As residents we feel proud for our steel city as the air connectivity to different parts of the country will lead to expansion of business and commerce," said Rourkela Bar Association president Ramesh Bal.
The officials claimed, Surendra’s links with the former executive director of the Steel Plant BP Burma helped him pass a tender illegally. Suspecting him of amassing disproportionate assets, the CBI today raided Surendra’s business establishment, office and residence.
On January 7 earlier this year, the CBI had arrested Burma on the allegation of taking Rs one lakh bribe to pass a tender. It had also seized Rs 20 lakhs after conducting a raid at his residence.
The injured worker has been admitted to Ispat General Hospital (IGH). He is now out of danger, hospital sources said.
Production was stalled at this site of the plant after the incident took place. The blast furnace-5 was also in controversy as the site stopped production for around 15 days last month due to supply of low quality coal, reports said.
The reaction of the plant authorities was not available.

A six-member team of CBI sleuths traced the ornaments from a locker of the State Bank of India (SBI)’s Sector-19 branch in the steel city.
Yesterday, CBI had traced 29.15 lakh worth of cash the joint account of Burma and his wife.
On January 9, Burma was arrested on the allegation of accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a contractor to pass a tender.
The search operation is being carried out at six places in Rourkela and one place in Bengaluru, a CBI spokesperson said in New Delhi.
Sources said Behera, currently posted as Assistant General Manager (Coke Oven) in the plant allegedly amassed crores of rupees through procurement of electrical equipment and machinery 3-4 years back. Though an official tender in this regard was invited by the company, he managed to ‘manipulate’ the tender in favour of a particular company for financial gains, the sources added.
The sources said Karmakar had helped Behera in the manipulation of the tender process.
Apart from the houses and residences of the two RSP officials, proprietors of M/S Pradeep Trading Co are also being raided, the CBI spokesperson said.
Four separate teams have been engaged in the search operation, which were still on when reports came in last.
The Makru bridge is constructed across river Makru in Tamenglong district of Manipur.
The RSP has supplied 986 tonne of high tensile E410 grade New Plate Mill plates for the construction of the bridge that is one of the key bridges of Imphal-Jiribam highway (NH 37) which will improve connectivity between Assam and Manipur, an official statement said.
The bridge was inaugurated by Gadkari on Monday.
It said that the plates rolled out in the state-of- the-art New Plate Mill of RSP has been used in several other mega bridge projects like the Chenab bridge and Mahatma Gandhi Setu and others.
RSP, a unit of SAIL, has reinforced its place as a committed contributor in nation building endeavours under Atmanirbhar Bharat, the statement said, adding that it has supplied steel to many important structures of national importance.
Members of almost all trade unions had taken out a dharna at Birsa Munda square in the city yesterday over the demands. While today, an even bigger mass of labourers have taken to the streets today at SAIL chhak, Hirakud Chhak, Fertiliser Gate and Birsa Munda chowk in the city.
The cease work stir is said to have severely hit the production in the Navaratna company.
“We demand payment of arrears, implementation of 9 per cent pension, 15 per cent growth in Minimum Guaranteed Benefit (MGB) on basic pay, perks and other benefits with withdrawal of action against the laid off labourers. Our demands also include a job to one of the family members of the employees who died of Covid-19,’ said a protesting worker.
The entire trade union is behind the strike and all the organisations are united for this cause. The agitation will be intensified further if the company authorities turn deaf ears to our demands, he added.
“Production in the entire plant has come to a grinding halt. The plant authorities have to hear the voice of the labourers or else the agitation will continue,” warned another demonstrator.
All the employees of the plant have extended co-operation to us. We appeal to the management to come to discuss with us,” another protesting labourer said.
Meanwhile, Regional Labour Commissioner took the labour unrest seriously. Dubbing the agitation unlawful, he urged the demonstrators to immediately report before the concerned departments failing which they would face disciplinary action, even suspension.
As per sources, the wage agreement of the workers is revised every five year. But, the SAIL management has reportedly failed to finalise the wage revision this time which has irked the labour unions.
To keep the ambient air pollution free, the steel plant has installed various air pollution control equipment like electro static precipitators, bag houses, dust supression systems, dry fog dust supression systems and wet fog dust suppression systems, a RSP statement said today.
The RSP is the first SAIL unit to install continuous effluent quality monitoring system at various waste water treatment units. The data are uplinked with the servers of the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) and the Central Pollution Control Board, it said.
The RSP has successfully taken up an R&D activity with the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology to explore the use of LD slag as soil ameliorant in acidic soil.
The common notion that reading habit among people, mainly youngsters, is declining is completely wrong since the passion for reading is deeply ingrained in book lovers, he said citing his own experiences in book fairs, literary meets and exhibitions.
Popularly known as Ramen, Kumar, while narrating his experience at the recent New Delhi Book Fair, also rejected suggestions that demonetisation had affected book sales.
Kumar, who works as chief of communications at the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in Odisha, said, the organisers of the National Book Trust had invited him to the book fair, held earlier this month, to conduct story telling sessions for two days at the children's pavilion.
"The large footfall and the brisk sale of books at the event clearly disproved the theory about the adverse effect of demonetisation," Kumar said.
"They also seemed to prove wrong the Cassandras who are predicting the decline and fall of reading habit," said the author, who was the only children's writer from Odisha at the fair.

Describing New Delhi World Book Fair as the biggest such event in Asia, he said, it offers an "awesome opportunity to readers, writers, editors and publishers to get on a common platform and enrich each other through exchange of ideas and experiences."
Noting that the children's pavilion was the most happening section at the Fair, Ramen said youngsters from international and government schools, and from institutions for differently-abled kids participated in the sessions.
In the first month of April, the same trend was also reflected in the Crude Steel production of RSP which was 240153 Tonnes, RSP sources said today
Similarly, sinter production during the month was all time best at 409300 Tonnes. Saleable Steel production figures at 210010 Tonnes marked a jump of 30 per cent over the corresponding period last year.
The overall performance of the plant during the month was laced with many achievements by individual units. On April 29, the Blast Furnaces produced 10240 Tonnes of Hot Metal which is the best ever performance for any single day.
Similarly on April 26, Steel Melting Shop-II made 8456 Tonnes of steel thereby pushing the total steel production for the day to 9930 Tonnes. These two are again the all time best performances.
The Sinter Plants too carved out their best ever performance for any single day on April 26 by making 16183 Tonnes of sinter. Out of this 8218 tonnes have been contributed by the new Sinter Unit-III, which was again its best ever performance. Another new unit that made a mark during the month was the new Coke Ovens Battery-6 that notched up an average of 79.3 pushings per day which was its best April performance.
The performance of the Plant in the Rolling Mill zone too was quite encouraging. By producing 46492 Tonnes of Plate Mill Plates, 151681 Tonnes of HR Coils (Total), 20240 Tonnes of HR Plates, 2405 Tonnes of Spiral Weld Pipes, 10410 Tonnes of Galvanised Sheets and 5258 Tonnes of CRNO steel, RSP has registered growth of 18.2 per cent, 41.2 per cent, 7.4 per cent, 16.9 per cent, 20.9 per cent and 5.1 per cent respectively over the Corresponding period last year.
RSP's CEO G S Prasad has expressed happiness over the performance of the plant and has said the year 2014-15 is crucial for RSP and the best efforts have to made by each unit from the very beginning to achieve the challenging targets set for the year.
"Project Charaka is another step forward in the long list of CSR Projects of RSP,? said RSP's CEO G S Prasad at the inauguration of the Project at Ispat General Hospital (IGH) here yesterday.
RSP, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, is changing the lives of many poor, underprivileged and needy people through a number of initiatives, he said.
Project Charaka, an initiative of Surgical department of IGH with the help of CSR Department, aims at providing free surgical treatment to patients detected with various problems in different Health Camps organised by RSP in peripheral villages and at Ispat Sanjeevani Kalyan Chikitsalaya.
?IGH has a long reach and has remained as the lifeline of people living in the region since its existence. It reaching out to the poor, underprivileged and needy people through these kinds of projects will go down as another milestone in its history,? Prasad added.
As per sources, deceased Jay Parabesh, a resident of Bharatpur in Rajasthan was posted as the Junior Manager in the New Plate Mill at RSP.
Sources said Parabesh had tied the knot one and half years ago and his wife, who was four-months pregnant, went to her in-law’s house at Rajasthan only two days ago.
Getting information, police rushed to the spot along with a scientific team, recovered the body and launched an investigation into the incident.
While the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained, police suspect it to be a case of suicide as per preliminary investigation.
Police officials further informed that the body's post-mortem will be conducted only after his family members reach Rourkela.
"We can ascertain the cause of death after getting the post-mortem reports. Further investigation is on," said a police official.
In another incident today, a young couple was found hanging from a tree near Pawartala village under Dharambandha police limits in Nuapada district. The deceased have been identified as Siba Majhi and Ranjita Majhi of Pawartala village.
Recovering the bodies, police have initiated a probe to find out whether it is a case of suicide or murder, sources said.
As per reports, two stray dogs have been menacing people near the blast furnace and Kokoven department within the plant premises and they have bitten as many as 12 employees of the plant over the past couple of days.
One of the victims, Sushant Kumar Sethi said, "I was on my two-wheeler when the dog chased me from behind and bit me on my legs."
Though, the steel plant is a highly restricted area, presence of stray dogs on the premises has raised concerns among the employees. The steel plant employees have been living in fear over the past few days due to the canine menace.
Meanwhile, Rourkela Steel Plant authorities have constituted 3 squads to capture the dogs.
As many as 31 families who had lost their land for the infrastructural development of RSP are residing in Hatidharsa, some 70 kilometres away from Rourkela.
The team members met the tribal families of Hatidharsa who briefed them on the unavailability of basic amenities including proper road, electricity, drinking water facilities, education and health services in the village. People also informed that patients are often carried on cots and slings to the hospital in the absence of a motorable road to the village.
The Commission assured the tribal families to draw the attention to the local administration and State Government towards their issues.
President of RSP Displaced Union, Lacchu Oram said, “The government had released land in Hatidharsa for reclamation. We have discussed with the officials on how far the process of reclamation of lands have been taken up by the concerned authorities. The people are deprived of basic amenities and one has to walk for 35 kilometres to go to the nearest market.”
“If the local administration has allotted lands to the tribals in Hatidharsa, they should demarcate it. It’s been 65 years now but land demarcation has not been done yet,” alleged Lacchu.
“People told us that their lands have not been identified. Some said that they have not been given the pattas and the identification of agricultural lands is also yet to be conducted. We heard the grievances of the people and will try to draw the attention of the administration in order to ensure basic facilities to them,” said Chairman of NCST Anasuya Orki.
On the other hand, Sundergarh Collector Rashmita Panda who also visited Hatidharsa with the central team assured all sort of help from the local administration.
“24 out of 31 families have been given the land pattas. The left out families will be soon identified and granted the pattas. We will help the eligible families by granting them various facilities after covering them in different plans of the government,” said Panda.
Those who have not been given any land till date will be identified soon. We will soon complete demarcation of land and if required will take the help of GPS survey, added Panda.

Bhubaneswar: What is it that makes BJP stronger in western Odisha compared to the state’s coastal belt? Right from the beginning the party has been winning more seats in the western region while it has found it difficult to penetrate the coast where currently the Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal (BJD) dominates.
The saffron party did extremely well in the western belt in the recent Lok Sabha elections winning all the five seats at stake in the region. In coastal Odisha it could win only two seats—Bhubaneswar and Balasore. Though these two victories were significant the realisation must have dawned on the party brass that it has to work harder to establish itself as a political force in the region.
One of the most important reasons for lotus sprouting in western Odisha is the demographic complexion of the region which has seen socio-cultural assimilation on a much bigger scale compared to the coast. It has cities like Rourkela which has been a socio-cultural melting pot ever since the state’s first steel plant was set up there. Since Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) offered financially lucrative jobs it attracted people from far and wide. Even today the city’s population is a healthy mix of Odias and non-Odias who have made it their home.
There are other commercial hubs like Jharsuguda where you find such a population mix though not exactly on the same scale. One of the important factors contributing to this socio-cultural amalgamation is the proximity of some of the important western Odisha districts with states like Jharkhand ( formerly part of undivided Bihar) and Chhattisgarh ( which separated from then composite Madhya Pradesh).
People on both sides of the border have not only business ties but also socio-cultural ties and this interaction has also influenced their thinking and their political choices. The BJP, hence, found it a fertile ground to grow. There was a big business class in this region that subscribed to the saffron ideology and also supported the party financially in its days of struggle.
Equally importantly the BJP has been raising important issues like the area’s poverty, backwardness and its proneness to drought. In the eighties the party had launched a sustained campaign on these issues and was able to win the confidence of people who identified with its ideology.
Though the party made a few compromises during the period that it ruled the state in tandem with Biju Janata Dal (BJD) it still remains quite popular in the western belt where it can do much better with a little more hard work. But the coast still remains a huge challenge for the BJP which not only lacks a good organisational base in the area but also credible leaders.
In the last few years the party has made attempts to get a foothold in the region but is yet to establish itself as a political force there. It can hope to do so with leaders like Bijay Mohapatra, Baijayant Panda and Pratap Sarangi being able to carve a niche for themselves in this belt.

Acting on a directive of Rourkela SP K Siva Subramani, a special squad along with officials of Sector-15 police station conducted a raid at one of the RSP quarters at C-block of Sector-17 of the steel city late last night at around 2AM.
Following the raid, police arrested two customers along with the queen bee of the prostitution ring while two more girls, reportedly residents of West Bengal, were also rescued from the quarters. Police also seized several objectionable materials during the raid.
The pimp on the other hand is claimed to have taken the quarters on rent, despite having another quarters nearby.
It is being said that the raid was conducted based on information provided by the locals, who have alleged that sex rackets are in operation in many such quarters in the area, while in this particular quarters sex trade had been operational for the past three years.
Though there were frequent complaints earlier too, the locals were all praises for the new SP who has swung into action to curb sex and drug rackets being carried out in the city.
"Rourkela Steel Plant located in the heart of the mineral rich belt of Odisha can be a leader in steel production in India and can contribute significantly towards achieving the target of producing 300 million tonnes of steel," said Pradhan.
Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) located in Sundargarh district has the installed capacity of 4.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).
Pradhan, who visited the plant on Sunday, reviewed the present infrastructure, current capabilities and future prospects of the plant.
Informing that the plant is one of the best performing steel plants of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Pradhan urged the top management to re-calibrate their approach and further leverage new technologies and digitalisation to enhance productivity and profitability.
He reviewed a presentation on the business, processes and performance of the Rourkela Steel Plant.
Officials of RSP will explore the options for localisation of consumption of the primary steel produced at the plant. This will ensure growth of the downstream steel industry in Rourkela, Pradhan added.
The SAIL plant has stepped up its liquid oxygen generation so that it can supply it to hospitals during the crisis being faced by the country. While the gaseous oxygen it produces is being used for sustenance of the plant processes, the entire production of liquid oxygen is being provided for medical use, the statement said.
The three air separation units of RSP’s oxygen plant is prodcuing oxygen in gaseous form for use in the making of hot metal and steel. The LMO is being supplied to Ispat General Hospital of RSP, it said.
The plant is operating two more air separation units on build, own, operate basis by Linde India Ltd to meet its oxygen demand.
Since April 2020, the oxygen plants of RSP along with Linde India has supplied more than 7,740 tonnes of LMO to Odisha, as well as other states to meet the requirement of this vital life saving item, the statement said.
Though tanker availability is a bottleneck, 572 tonnes of LMO has been supplied so far to Odisha and other states so far this month, it said.
RSP has also developed COVID care and isolation centres and is running vaccination centres at its Ispat General Hospital, which is equipped with testing center, plasma bank, the statement added.
The RSP produced 2,29,704 tonnes of hot metal from Blast Furnace-5 and 82,300 tonnes from Blast Furnace-1, which are the best February productions of the respective furnaces since inception, it said in a statement.
The RSP also achieved the highest February production of crude steel and saleable steel. It produced 3,06,510 tonnes of crude steel and 2,81,501 tonnes of saleable steel.
The steel plant also registered the highest February production of HR coil at 1,52,917 tonnes.
The RSP registered its best monthly dispatch by dispatching 1,15,898 tonnes of HR coils for sale, the statement said.

The goals are tough, but so are we. We have to make every possible effort to protect our pride and dignity. Let's strive to have an Unnattara and Utkrushttara Plant, he said in a message on the commencement of the new fiscal and UtkalDibas, Odishas formation day.
Referring to the coronavirus outbreak, he said this year is going to be very different from the ones before.
It seems that the severe impact of COVID-19 (coronavirus) on the economy is going to cause a paradigm shift in the behaviour of the market, the CEO said.
Stating that a high-level task force is monitoring the COVID-19 situation, he said that intensive sanitization and cleaning operations are continuing both inside the plant and in the township, while a massive awareness campaign has been launched using every medium possible.
"We are rationalising production depending on the situation and deploying minimum manpower accordingly, the RSP CEO said.
To strike an effective balance between the need for social distancing and requirements of the Plant, at any particular point of time, we are allowing 40 to 60 per cent employees of various units to work from home, he said.
Describing 2019-20 as the year of consolidation and resolution, Chattaraj said that external factors like the global slowdown in the steel market and fluctuating prices combined with internal issues like escalating cost of production, huge inventory and high debt burden kept our bottom line stressed.
With a special focus on sustainability and long term growth, RSP managed to resolve some long pending issues whose immediate liquidation was critical for the survival of the organization, he said.
These could no longer be delayed. While we were aware that these issues required long shutdowns which would result in production loss, we took it as a challenge and went on to complete them within the schedule for sustainable production and environment management, he said.
Some of these projects that will have long term impact on the sustainability of the Plant are installation of Doghouses in two old convertors of SMS-2, erection of waste gas cleaning systems in Kiln-2,3 & 4 of calcining plant-2 and relining of blast furnace-4 which was planned in 2017.
Now the furnace is getting ready for operation, the CEO said.

Despite many odds RSP set many new benchmarks in the last fiscal as its blast furnace-5 crossed 15 MT production mark in February and the last 1 MT was made in only 132 days, Chattaraj said.
All-time best hot metal production was clocked with 2 furnace operation, he said.
Our three main mills, namely plate mill, new plate mill and hot strip mill have all registered their all-time best annual performance with combined production of 3.1 MT, Chattaraj added.

The facility will be exporting CE-marked plates conforming to the European standards, the RSP said in a statement.
According to it, the 'CE' is defined as the European Union's (EU) mandatory conformity marking for regulating goods sold within the European Economic Area.
It is worth mentioning here that the 4.3 metre-wide new mill of RSP produces a wide range of plates complied with stringent international standards, the statement said.
The steelmaker also said plates produced by the mill are utilised in earth moving equipment, wagon building, railway projects, bridges and highways, nuclear power plants and many other sectors.
The mill has got an approval of DNV-GL (Det Norske Veritas-Bermanischer Lloyd) business assurance to produce CE- marked plates for the European market and has been exporting its products to different countries.
The fresh order has been bagged by the steel plant a few weeks after it completed exports of 60,000 tonnes of special grade slab to China and 2,700 tonnes of plates to Vietnam, the RSP sources said.
While putting up a tough fight against COVID-19, the RSP is simultaneously making all-out efforts to generate revenue in one of the most sluggish market environments the world has ever seen, the statement said.
