For IMD, heavy rainfall is between 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm, very heavy rain 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm, and extremely heavy rainfall above 204.4 mm.
With the southwest monsoon covering the entire country on Tuesday (July 13), heavy rainfall was witnessed in several places across all states.
Owing to a low pressure area likely to form over west central and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts around 11th July, the regional centre of India Meteorological department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for several districts of Odisha.
After a lull, there is a likelihood of formation of another low pressure next week. As per reports, a low-pressure area (LOPAR) is likely to form over west Central and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts around 11th July.
In the next two days, most parts of the state barring a few places will experience dry weather. However, the rainfall activity is likely to increase in the state with the progress of the week.
A low pressure area is persisting over southeast Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood, north Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), under this influence, several districts of Odisha may witness heavy rainfall.
