The police resorted to lathi charge on corporator candidates and their supporters protesting the alleged EVM tampering by a BJD supporter at the strong room created at the Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) Autonomous College in Bhubaneswar on Friday. The counting of votes for the ULB polls will be held tomorrow.

Petitioners sought protection of human rights as well as fundamental rights and other Constitutional rights of the inhabitants of Dhinkia and nearby villages under Abhayachandpur police limits in Jagatsinghpur district.  

Jagatsinghpur district administration and the Police resumed eviction work at several betel vines in the area on Monday after a brief halt of two days that followed the brutal Police lathi charge on protesting villagers at Dhinkia last week.

Visuals from the site show police chasing and baton charging the mob as they desperately ran helter-skelter for safety.
