Justice Talapatra was elevated as a Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 15 November 2011 and on establishment of a separate High Court for the State of Tripura in 2013 he opted the High Court of Tripura as his parent High Court. He has been functioning, on transfer, in the High Court of Orissa since 10 June 2022.
According to sources, the court has served the notices to Srimandir managing committee chairman, chief administrator, Director General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and its superintendent while hearing the petition filed by form state BJP president Samir Mohanty.
With the inauguration of 50 new paperless courts, the total number of paperless courts in the district judiciary of the state has now reached 84. District Ganjam has become the first district in Odisha to have all the courts paperless.

The Supreme Court on Friday set aside an Orissa High Court judgment, which directed enrolment of a candidate as an advocate even though he secured a law degree from a college not recognised by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
Alleging injustice meted out to them, the selected candidates on Saturday staged a demonstration in front of the OPSC office in Cuttack.
