Justice Talapatra was elevated as a Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 15 November 2011 and on establishment of a separate High Court for the State of Tripura in 2013 he opted the High Court of Tripura as his parent High Court. He has been functioning, on transfer, in the High Court of Orissa since 10 June 2022.

According to sources, the court has served the notices to Srimandir managing committee chairman, chief administrator, Director General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and its superintendent while hearing the petition filed by form state BJP president Samir Mohanty.

With the inauguration of 50 new paperless courts, the total number of paperless courts in the district judiciary of the state has now reached 84. District Ganjam has become the first district in Odisha to have all the courts paperless.

The television channel had aired an audio conversation between two people in August 2020. One of the persons, who claimed (in the clip) to have returned from a Covid hospital after recovery, undermined the disease saying it would be cured without treatment and medicines.

The demand has been made for the constitution of a panel headed by the Odisha Governor or sitting judge. As per sources, the condition of the Ratna Bhandar is now deplorable with leaking ceilings and peeling plasters, and needs urgent repairs.

The High Court issued the order recently while hearing the case of Nilamadhaba Enterprises vs CT (commercial tax) & GST Officer, Cuttack.

The Supreme Court on Friday set aside an Orissa High Court judgment, which directed enrolment of a candidate as an advocate even though he secured a law degree from a college not recognised by the Bar Council of India (BCI).

Alleging injustice meted out to them, the selected candidates on Saturday staged a demonstration in front of the OPSC office in Cuttack. 

"To have in Odisha in 2023 nearly 30,000 SAM and 86,000 MAM children is a cause for alarm not just for the State of Odisha but for the Government of India as well," the court observed.  

The Computer Application Test of candidates who have passed the main examination will be conducted today as per the schedule.

Hearing the case, the Court issued a stay order on NGT’s proceedings until further hearing of the case.

Through OES rules amendment, the Odisha government had substituted the method of selection by the OPSC on the basis of career marking, written test and vive voce by the highest GATE scores.

A single bench of Justice Biswanath Rath passed the order while pronouncing judgement in a case pertaining to allotment of multiple plots by the development authority under discretionary quota (DQ).  

While hearing a petition filed by Puri-based social worker Dillip Baral seeking direction to make the report of Justice Raghubir Das Commission of Inquiry public, the court directed Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena and Law Secretary to submit response in connection with the matter.

The Main Written Examination for the post of Assistant Section Officer will be held on April 30, 2023.
