This instruction of the government has come after the IMD, Bhubaneswar, forecast that hot and humid weather conditions and heat wave are likely to continue in many districts during the next five days

Residents are gripped in fear as the day temperature is likely to cross the 40 degree mark today.

By 2.30 pm, Bhubaneswar was the hottest city with 39.6 degrees, but mercury shot up to 40.5 degrees in Paralakemundi in the evening. It became the hottest city in Odisha. 

Youth BJD leader Dhirendra Panigrahi allegedly lost his cool, started muttering abuses at the villagers. He even went to the extent of thrashing a youth. 

The deceased and the injured persons belong to a family. The critically injured were said to be a woman, her mother-in-law and the driver of the car. They were travelling in a car from Goa to Howrah, preliminary reports said.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted the rise of mercury in Odisha. The temperature has started to peak again and by 2:30 pm on Sunday, seven cities including Bhubaneswar recorded temperatures more than 37 degrees.   

Apart from Bhubaneswar, 11 places recorded a maximum temperature above 34 degrees by 11:30 am today.

Supporters of sitting BJD MLA Raghunandan Das who have been waiting for the party’s decision, gathered at the legislator's residence in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. They are said to be sceptical of the candidature of the incumbent MLA.

As per the advocate of accused Gopal Das, there have been a lot of differences between both statements of the eyewitness.

As per the temple administration sources,  as many as two Pratihari servitors each will be initially deployed in front of ‘Singha Dwara’ during ‘Dwara Phita’ rituals in the morning and ‘Sandhya Arati’ rituals during the evening hours starting from Pana Sankranti on April 14.

President Droupadi Murmu, BJP National VP Baijayant Panda and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik among others expressed their deepest condolences over the sad demise of Das.
