Meanwhile, no large change in minimum temperature (Night temperature) will happen over the districts of Odisha during next five days. It is likely to remain above normal by 2 to 3 degree Celsius in many places of Odisha.
While the winter chill is gradually fading, several parts of the state are likely to experience dense fog for the next two to three days. A yellow warning has also been issued for several districts by the IMD.

According to sources, several trees were uprooted and vehicular movement was disrupted after thunderstorm accompanied by squally wind wreaked havoc in the State capital.
Similarly, the downpour under the influence of the nor’wester led to water-logging in several parts of Bhubaneswar, informed sources adding that the flooded road connecting Raj Mahal to Master Canteen affected vehicular movement on the route.
Several bikes in OMC parking area were reportedly damaged after an uprooted tree fell on the parked vehicles. Besides, the tents set up by the Ajanta Circus troupe at the Exhibition Ground also suffered massive damage in the nor’wester, just hours ahead of its first show in the city.
“We have booked 12 tickets for the first show of the circus. But, suddenly the weather changed and nor’wester hit the city. The tent set up by the circus was damaged completely,” said a resident of Bhubaneswar.
“We did not allow people to remain inside the tent before the nor’wester. Anything can happen if the tent falls. Those who want a refund can return their tickets. If they want to watch the show they can come with the same ticket,” said the organiser of Ajanta Circus.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Bhubaneswar centre, Baripada in Mayurbhanj district also recorded 40 degree Celsius as the maximum temperature.
A resident of Baripada town said, “Heat was too much today. Even our sweat was evaporating quickly leaving salt on the skin. I think this is the highest heat we have encountered this year.”
Blame it on the inflow of dry air or the climate change, the fact is Odisha is going to singe under the sultry sun for at least six or more days. Bhubaneswar weather office has alerted that the heat conditions will continue in Odisha till April 16.
“The day temperature will see a rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next few days. The temperature in coastal Odisha too will see a rise and is likely to touch 40 degree soon,” said IMD scientist Umashankar Das.
There are multiple reasons of this heat. As per weather scientist, Sharat Sahu, “The wind has slowed down and the lower level wind is blowing from west and North-west bringing heat with it. The water vapour flow to Odisha has also stopped from both Bay of Bengal and the Arabian sea making the temperature in Odisha to rise suddenly.”
Capital city Bhubaneswar on the other hand recorded 39 degrees by 2:30 pm on Monday. Similarly, Chandbali recorded 39 degree, followed by 37.6 degree in Hirakud, 36.4 degree in Balasore and 36.2 degree Celsius in Keonjhar.
Even though the morning classes have begun from today in many schools, guardians say that if such temperature persists it will be tough for the kids to return home by 11:30 am under the scorching heat conditions.

These steps will help the state to get precise real time information for more effective management of disasters, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Saturday.
Patnaik has said this while addressing an event organised here to observe Odisha Disaster Preparedness Day and National Day for Disaster Reduction.
This day is observed every year to remember the valuable human lives lost in Super Cyclone, 1999.
During 23 years since the Super Cyclone, the Odisha government has done everything possible to make Odisha a safer place during disasters, he said.
"Odisha today has the most robust infrastructure for disaster management. The world has recognised our efforts in all these years. I would like to thank my 4.5 crore brothers and sisters for their support and solidarity in building a disaster resilient Odisha," said the Chief Minister.
He appreciated the efforts of members of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Mission Shakti, frontline workers like ASHAs and anganwadis, NGOs and community level volunteers, government officials, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), fire services, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and police personnel for their coordinated work to reduce human casualty.
During 2022, he said, the state faced floods in the Mahanadi, Baitarani and Subarnarekha river systems, affecting more than 23 lakh people in 16 districts.
Due to robust preparedness and coordinated efforts, the state has evacuated nearly 2.7 lakh people to safer places and took up timely relief and restoration measures, he pointed out.
"Our geographic location makes us prone to natural disasters. Every life is precious. Nearly 10,000 people died in Super Cyclone 1999. Then, we did not have safe shelters. During these years, 815 multi-purpose cyclone and flood shelters have been constructed while another 55 new shelters are under construction out of Chief Ministers' Relief Fund (SMRF)," he said.
To strengthen community driven preparedness, Patnaik said his government is training more than 40,000 volunteers at village and shelter level. Further, the government is taking up capacity building of elected representatives of PRIs, urban local bodies (ULBs), Mission Shakti members, ASHAs, Anganwadi Workers, Vana Surakhya Samiti (VSS) Members, as they play a key role in disaster risk reduction, he added.
Besides, disaster and pandemic management is being introduced in the educational curricula of students from standard 4 to graduation level with a view to preparing disaster management 'yodhas' in every village and households, said Patnaik.
On this occasion, he appealed to all stakeholders and citizens to come forward and join hands with the government to create a disaster resilient Odisha.
The IMD’s Bhubaneswar regional centre took to Twitter and shared the news of formation of the low pressure area.
