Advocate Prashant Bhushan, representing the petitioners, submitted that the FIR was lodged against them after the advocates went for a "fact finding" job in connection with the violence in the state.
A lady from Odisha is among the two journalists who were arrested by the Tripura Police in connection with the Tripura violence case. The duo was soon released on bail after a court granted them bail. Earlier they were reportedly been booked for promoting ‘communal hatred’ during their reporting on October 26 on communal violence in Tripura.
Meanwhile, the Editors Guild of India (EGI) and Indian Women’s Press Corps (IWPC) have condemned the detention and demanded the immediate release of the two journalists.
