The active cases declined to 37,762, including 10,467 in Khurda, which is in the red zone along with Sundargarh and Cuttack, where current infections are over 2,500 each.
The fresh fatalities pushed the virus death toll in the State to 8612.
Despite ebb in its daily virus tally from few days ago, Khordha accounted for the highest number of infections among all districts with 1500 persons testing positive in the last one day while Sundargarh reported 501 cases and Cuttack 482 cases.
This is the fourth consecutive day that the State recorded a dip in positive cases from the highs of over 11K plus cases in the ongoing third wave of the pandemic.
The last time the State recorded below 10,000 cases was on January 12 when 8778 people had tested positive for the virus.
Out of the 7,071 cases, 4,128 were detected in quarantine while 2,943 are local contact cases
The district accounts for the second highest number of fresh coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours after Khordha.
The State saw a double rise in number as on Tuesday the State had logged 680 COVID-19 cases. While on Monday it had registered 424 COVID-19 cases.
