Of the Indian students who have enrolled in medical universities abroad, over 30,000 had enrolled in Ukraine-based universities alone. The percentage of Odisha students is considerable among them.

The safe return from the conflict zone naturally brought rounds of happiness to their anxious families and huge relief for the parents who spent sleepless nights watching the horrors of the dangerous war unfolding before television screens 24x7.

Even today, 3,000 Indian students, including 500 odd from Odisha, are still holed up in war-hit Kharkiv city alone.

The parents have been in a state of great anxiety and fear thinking about their children who are stranded in war-torn Ukraine.

Rayagada: These are testing times for Odisha students who are stuck in Kota, Rajasthan due to the nation-wide lockdown clamped to contain the spread of COVID-19.
