According to reports, police have detained one Lulu Behera, owner of Jay Durga brick kiln, at Sahadevkhunta police station for interrogation over the case.
A team of Nilagiri Police reached the spot for post mortem of the deceased in presence of the Balasore District Magistrate.
On the other hand, Labour Commissioner officials raided the brick kiln to investigate the circumstances under which the minor girl was found at the kiln. Police also questioned the doctors and employees of Balasore Hospital, where the victim was under treatment in a critical condition.
The minor girl was found in critical condition near the kiln and was immediately rushed to a hospital in Balasore where she died during treatment. It is being alleged that she was poisoned following her rape by unknown miscreants on Monday.
As per the FIR lodged at the Nilagiri Police Station, the girl was raped by a miscreant while she went out of her house to meet her parents who work at a brick kiln in the locality. The police have launched a hunt for the perpetrator of the crime after the parents of the deceased lodged a complaint.
The incident comes close on the heels of the brutal kidnapping and murder of five-year-old Nayagarh girl Pari whose skeletal remains were found in the backyard of her house days after she went missing while playing. The incident has evoked massive public outrage in the state for its brutality and the alleged soft pedalling of the police over the investigations.
