During the course of the hearing before Special NIA Judge Praveen Singh, Malik said: "I will not beg for anything. The case is before this court and I leave it on the court to decide it."
The agency made the submission before special judge Praveen Singh, while the amicus curiae appointed by the court to assist Malik sought life imprisonment, the minimum punishment in the matter.
Special Judge Praveen Singh would hear the arguments on May 19 regarding the quantum of sentence for the offences levelled against Malik in which the maximum punishment is life imprisonment.
Two teams of NIA conducted raids in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar of Cuttack. Later, the duo was picked up from the capital city.
"The accused, along with their other associates, were involved in spreading the network of CPI(Maoist) in Assam and North-East region," the official said.
The accused, Altafhussen Ganchibhai alias Shakil and Waseem, the Pakistani national, were chargesheeted for their alleged involvement in conspiracy and espionage activities with an intention to wage war against India.
Araga Jnanendra, Minister for Home on Saturday said that after finding about the background of the accused and the organisations behind them, it was felt appropriate to hand over the case to the NIA.
