In a bolt from the blue, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) recently announced a bounty for the absconder mafia don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar - declared a 'Global Terrorist' - and his close confidant Chhota Shakeel and three other infamous gangsters, with a total take-away of Rs 90-lakh.
The TRF operatives were working at the behest of Pakistani handlers, a spokesperson of the federal agency said.
Sleuths of NIA carried out raids at multiple places along the IB in Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts.
The accused was identified as Mohsin Ahmad, a resident of Batla House in New Delhi.
The official informed that for further examination Malik was admitted to the hospital and is currently hospitalised there.
The case pertains to attack on priest Kamaldeep Sharma at village Bhar Singh Pura, Phillaur, Jalandhar by Kamaljeet Sharma alias Kamal and Ram Singh alias Sona on the directions of Canada-based Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh and Nijjar.
On Friday, the NIA didn't press for their further remand, following which the court sent the accused to jail under 14-day judicial custody.
Kanhaiya Lal was killed with a cleaver inside his tailoring shop on June 28.
The accused are likely to be produced before the NIA's Mumbai court on or before July 8, the official added.
Five persons have been arrested in connection with the killing of the 54-year-old chemist so far.
The case was initially registered at Dhanmandi police station in Udaipur.
"Prima-facie, it seems to be a terror case and needs a thorough investigation which includes sifting through their social media profiles," a senior official had said on Tuesday on condition of anonymity.
The case was registered suo-moto by the NIA on December 27, 2021.
During the probe, the investigating agency learnt that Mir was an Over Ground Worker of JeM. He was a close associate of arrested accused Bilal Ahmed Wagay. He was also in touch with Pakistan based handlers of JeM.
One pistol, 30 cartridges, three IEDs weighing 2.5 kg each and Rs 1.3 lakh cash is was recovered from the vehicle that bore a Delhi registration number.
