While basking in the glory of ‘Animal’s theatrical success, Vanga is now channeling his efforts into editing the film for its upcoming OTT release.
In a recent interview with Komal Nahta, Sandeep Reddy Vanga candidly acknowledged encountering certain issues with the theatrical version of ‘Animal.’ He noted discrepancies in a song, identified costume glitches in certain scenes, criticised makeup choices in specific instances, and highlighted sound irregularities. Taking the opportunity to address these concerns, Vanga is diligently working on refining the OTT version to address these perceived shortcomings.
Reflecting on the editing process, Vanga revealed that he regretted trimming the runtime of ‘Animal’ to 3 hours and 21 minutes from its initial 3 hours and 30 minutes. Expressing his dissatisfaction, he stated, "I don’t know why I edited those 8-9 minutes. Now, I will be using those 5-6 minutes extra."
Vanga emphasised that the Netflix version would incorporate additional shots, rectifying the concerns he identified with the theatrical release.
The OTT version of ‘Animal’ is set to premiere on Netflix, promising audiences an enhanced and polished cinematic experience.
Meanwhile, ‘Animal’ has emerged as the third-highest-grossing movie of the year. From its initial release, the film has consistently shattered records, surpassing Sunny Deol's ‘Gadar 2’ lifetime collection within a remarkable 20 days.
In a significant twist, the news gets even more exciting as Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover, the beloved comedy duo, are making a comeback together for this Netflix venture. The announcement, accompanied by a teaser, has left fans ecstatic about witnessing the hilarious chemistry between the two once again.
Actress Bhumi Pednekar wrote, “Can’t waitttttt.” Cricketer Harbajan Singh wrote, “Good to see you both.”
One fan wrote, “This feels like a big winning after India lost world cup.” Another commented, “Animal se bhi bada dhmaakaaa ab hua hai.”
The ensemble cast for this much-anticipated show includes familiar faces from 'The Kapil Sharma Show', such as Archana Puran Singh, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, and Rajiv Thakur. Netflix, sharing a teaser on Instagram, wrote, "Dil thaam ke baithiye, jis ghadi ka intezar tha, vo aagayi hai! @kapilsharma and @whosunilgover BACK TOGETHER, coming soon, only on Netflix!"
The reunion of Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover is a significant moment for fans who fondly remember their dynamic partnership on The Kapil Sharma Show. Sunil Grover, renowned for his characters Gutthi and Dr. Mashoor Gulati, parted ways with the show in 2018 after a fallout with Kapil Sharma.
Entertainment journalist Haricharan Pudippedi recently revealed that Allu Arjun has chosen not to take a standard remuneration or salary for his role in Pushpa 2. Instead, the acclaimed actor has opted for a percentage share of the film's profits upon its release.
However, there has been no official confirmation on the same from the production house or Allu Arjun’s team.
‘Pushpa: The Rise’ not only claimed the title of the most-watched film of 2021 but also earned two National Awards for Best Acting and Best Music Direction. The sequel, slated for release on August 15, 2024, is creating a lot of buzz among fans who are eager to witness the next chapter of the action drama.
In a surprising twist, sources close to the film's production have disclosed that Mythri Movie Makers, the production house behind Pushpa 2, has sealed an exclusive OTT deal with Netflix, as per an English Jagran report.
Despite a tempting offer from Amazon Prime Video, the producers reportedly astounded them with a significant price quote. Netflix, determined to secure the digital rights, outbid Amazon by a considerable margin, with the deal being three times more lucrative.
Helmed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule boasts an ensemble cast including Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, Sunil, Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu, among others. Aside from its release in Hindi and southern languages, the film will be dubbed in additional languages to reach a broader audience.
In a recent interview with The Washington Post, Kashyap shared that the incident took a personal toll on him.
Speaking passionately about ‘Maximum City’, Kashyap stated, "It was my best work. I've never done such honest, important work."
However, he noted that Netflix's departure from the project lacked specific reasoning. He speculated that the content he had written might have been deemed sensitive, or he had become a sensitive figure for the streaming platform.
He admitted to falling into a prolonged state of depression and seeking solace in alcohol as he considers it his best work. During this time, he revealed that he suffered two heart attacks, attributing the emotional investment in "Maximum City" as the cause.
Notably, after the ‘Tandav’ controversy, many upcoming web shows and films planned for release on various streaming platforms faced setbacks including Kashyap's ‘Maximum City’ for Netflix.
Reflecting on streaming platforms in general, Kashyap expressed disappointment, seeing this space as a missed opportunity for a revolution.
He remarked, "Streaming was finally the space I was waiting for. The disappointment is it was supposed to be a revolution, but it was not. Like social media, it was supposed to empower people, but it became a tool."
On the work front, Kashyap's latest film, ‘Kennedy,’ premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival which stars Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat in lead roles.
According to market research firm Antenna, Netflix commanded 2.6 million gross additions in July, which is overall elevated compared to normal.
However, this is still less than the spike in subscribers Netflix witnessed in June, but comes as yet another sign that Netflix’s paid-sharing rollout is actually working.
The company saw a dip of over 25 per cent from its record-breaking June.
Moreover, the report said that nearly 23 per cent of Netflix sign-ups went to its ad-supported plan, up 4 points compared to June 2023, and the largest share of sign-ups since that plan's launch in November.
The company launched paid sharing in more than 100 countries in May, representing more than 80 per cent of its revenue base.
Meanwhile, Netflix said that it added 5.9 million subscribers globally in the second quarter (Q2), with the US and Canada making up 1.17 million new members in the April-June period.
"Revenue in each region is now higher than pre-launch, with sign-ups already exceeding cancellations. Paid net additions were 5.9 million in Q2," Netflix said in a statement, adding that its password-sharing crackdown is working.
The revenue was $8.2 billion (3 per cent increase year-on-year) and operating profit was $1.8 billion in the second quarter.
For Q3, the company forecasts revenue of $8.5 billion, up 7 per cent year over year.
The US streaming service announced the plan following a meeting between South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos after Yoon arrived in Washington for a state visit.
"We were able to make this decision because of our great confidence in the Korean content industry, and we'll continue to make great stories," Sarandos said following the meeting at Blair House.
"I have no doubt that our investment will strengthen our long-term partnership with Korea and Korea's creative ecosystem," he said, reports Yonhap news agency.
Sarandos said the sum is twice the amount Netflix has invested in South Korea since it started there in 2016.
Citing Korean hits, such as "Squid Game," "The Glory", and "Physical 100", he also said stories produced by Korean creators are "now at the heart of the global cultural zeitgeist".
Yoon welcomed the investment, saying he expects it to be a "large opportunity" for the South Korean content business, creators and Netflix.
South Korea's Culture Ministry said in a release that the investment is the largest ever to be made in the country's content industry and will help create 68,000 jobs.
The ministry also said it will help strengthen the capabilities of domestic production companies and increase their chances of advancing to the global market.
A presidential official later told reporters in Washington the investment decision was three months in the making.
The presidential office proposed the investment first, and Netflix carried out internal deliberations before ultimately deciding on $2.5 billion, the official said.
Yoon and Sarandos "exchanged letters in the process, and the President and the first lady had some level of interaction with Netflix's top management in advance", the official said.
Asked how first lady Kim Keon Hee was involved, the official said he first reported developments to the President and also reported to the first lady, who had "quite a large interest in the content industry".
Kim was present during the Blair House event earlier in the day.
These platforms support various regional languages, enabling people to watch movies in their preferred language. However, not everyone can comprehend a particular language, and that's where subtitles come into play.

Step 2: Click on the profile picture icon available in the top-right corner of the screen.
Step 3: Now here you have to click on the "Account" option from the drop-down menu.
Step 4: Under "Profile & Parental Controls," select the profile for which you want to customize the subtitles.
Step 5: Click on the "Change subtitle appearance" button to access the subtitle appearance menu.
Step 6: Here, you can change the font, text size, color, and background color, and even add a drop shadow effect to the subtitles.
Step 7: Once you've made the changes, click on the "Save" button to save your preferences.
Now, you can watch any video on Netflix, and the subtitles will be displayed according to your settings.
However, if you're watching Netflix on your TV, you'll need to follow these additional steps:
Step 1: While watching a video, click on the "Settings" icon on the bottom right corner of the screen.
Step 2: Select "Get Help" from the options.

Looking ahead to 2023, Netflix is debuting a diverse array of Korean TV series, films and unscripted shows.
After a global success with 'Squid Game', Netflix will launch a total of 34 Korean titles on its platform, including returning with the series 'Sweet Home', 'D.P.', and 'The Glory', a press release stated.
Survival has become a recurring theme across some of the top series, whether it's battling monsters during the dark days of 1945 in 'Gyeongseong Creature', struggling to breathe in the dystopian future of sci-fi series Black Knight, or fighting to protect Joseon during Japanese colonial rule in action drama 'Song of the Bandits'.
Other new series this year run the gamut of romance (A Time Called You, Behind Your Touch (WT), Crash Course in Romance, Destined With You, Doona!, King the Land, Love to Hate You, See You In My 19th Life), social commentary and intrigue (Bloodhounds, Celebrity, Mask Girl), drama (Daily Dose of Sunshine, Queenmaker, The Good Bad Mother), and apocalyptic (Goodbye Earth).
Don Kang, VP of Content (Korea), said: "The global popularity of K-content has continued apace over 2022, with Netflix bringing a wider variety of stories and genres to fans around the world. Over the last year, Korean series and films have regularly featured in our Global Top 10 list in more than 90 countries, and three of Netflix's most-watched shows ever are from Korea."
"This year, we're pushing the envelope even further with the stories we tell and how we tell them. With this lineup of Korean titles, Netflix will continue to be the ultimate destination for compelling, diverse and must-watch Korean storytelling."
This year, Netflix is expanding its film offering with six Korean movies, kicking off with sci-fi thriller 'JUNG-E' on January 20, followed by 'Kill Boksoon', which depicts a professional killer with conflicting maternal instincts, and 'Believer 2', a sequel to a crime action thriller revolving around drug gangs.
Other films explore the topics of revenge (Ballerina), teacher-student rivalry (The Match), and hacking (Unlocked).
Meanwhile, those who love living vicariously will be spoilt for choice with a dazzling lineup of reality shows, spanning endurance (Physical:100, Siren: Survive the Island), zombie survival (Zombieverse) coming of age (Nineteen to Twenty), and mind games (The Devil's Plan).
There are also two new documentaries coming out. Yellow Door: Looking for Director Bong's Unreleased Short Film (working title) traces the quest for Oscar-winning director Bong Joon Ho's debut film while true-crime documentary In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal explores the self-proclaimed 'messiahs' in modern Korean history.
"We are very excited over the variety of the titles that we're sharing with our members," said Kang. "There's truly a series, a film or an unscripted show for everyone, and we look forward to our Korean shows connecting to fans both overseas and at home."

With these web series, welcome 2023.
According to the researchers at Netflix Inc., they detected password sharing is a significant issue in reduced membership despite increased viewership. As per the data collected by the firm, over 100 million Netflix subscribers currently access the site using credentials they borrow, frequently from friends or relatives.
The business was unsure of how to solve it without offending customers; however, the COVID lockdown in 2020 resulted in a surge of new users, and the initiative to carefully monitor sharing fizzled. At the beginning of 2022, co-founder Reed Hastings told senior executives at a company gathering outside of Los Angeles that the pandemic boom had overshadowed the risk of sharing login details and had delayed it for too long.
Beginning in 2023, Netflix has acknowledged that it will cease this cooperation and start charging those who share accounts by distributing passwords for the OTT platform. The company anticipates starting the change's rollout in the U.S. early in the year; however, Netflix hasn't specified a launch date or price for its password-sharing plan.
According to the UK's Intellectual Property Office (IPO), the practice of password sharing may result in criminal proceedings for streaming accounts, which may constitute "secondary copyright infringement."
The primary objective of Netflix is to encourage consumers to limit their own self-sharing without pressuring them to do so. In an effort to attract new customers searching for a deal on more expensive ad-free plans, a $6.99 monthly ad-supported tier was introduced in November.

From the elite of New Delhi being totally unaware of the plight of such people to the tribal people becoming criminals as they do not have any resources, the story interestingly exposes the overlooked practices that have been affecting the minorities of the city.
As the murders start happening, the investigation comes into play and it is the way Chaturvedi’s team handles the probe that adds more drama and interest to the story of Delhi Crime Season 2. Apart from the relentless pursuit of the criminals, the way Vartika and her teammates try to give a little bit of themselves to the family and those around them despite being drained out of energy shows the conflict such police officers face who are repeatedly on daily basis forced to keep a lid on their emotions so that they can be fair when it comes to treating a culprit or a criminal.
