After a two-year hiatus, Lord Lingaraj’s annual sojourn to Mausi Maa Temple (Rameswar Temple) was held with public participation. Odisha’s capital city Bhubaneswar celebrated Ashokastami on Saturday, as Rukuna Rath, the chariot of Lord Lingaraj, rolled on Mausi Maa temple road.
As per the schedule, the 'Pahandi' rituals and 'Ratharudha' will be carried out between 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm while the Chariot pulling ceremony will start from 3:30 pm onwards today.
It is pertinent to mention here that the chariot construction work for the festival was earlier scheduled to complete by April 8. However, the works hit a roadblock due to the delay in the arrival of timbers and, moreover, due to its poor quality.
The said land, measuring 228 decimals and located just around 200 metres from the Biju Patnaik International Airport in the State capital, has emerged as a bone of contention between the administration and the family of Prabhakaran.
