The accused has been identified as Kailash Majhi of Gunupur under Narla police limits.
The STF which works to tackle organised crimes further said the special drives against wildlife criminals and poachers have been launched since 2020.
The seized leopard skin will be sent to Wild Life Institute of India in Deharadun for a chemical examination.
Acting on a tip-off, a special team of the department headed by DFO Khyama Sarangi conducted a raid and caught Prahallad red-handed while he was making a deal to sell the skin on Wednesday.
During the last one year, a special drive against the wildlife criminals/poachers has been launched in which the STF has seized as many as 18 leopard skin, 9 elephant tusks, 2 deer skin, 5 live pangolin scales and arrested 36 wildlife criminals.
The STF is the specialized wing of the Odisha police formed to curb organized crime in the state.
