"Thus, around 42.45 per cent patients have recovered so far," a senior health ministry official said.
Of the 170 deaths reported since Tuesday morning, 97 were in Maharashtra, 27 in Gujarat, 12 in Delhi, nine in Tamil Nadu, five each in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, three in Rajasthan and one each in Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Telangana and Uttarakhand.
Of the total 4,337 fatalities, Maharashtra tops the tally with 1,792 deaths followed by Gujarat with 915 deaths, Madhya Pradesh with 305, Delhi with 288, West Bengal with 283, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh with 170 each, Tamil Nadu with 127 and Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with 57 deaths each.
The death toll reached 44 in Karnataka and 40 in Punjab. Jammu and Kashmir has reported 24 fatalities due to the disease, Haryana 17 deaths while Bihar has registered 13 and Odisha has seven deaths.
Kerala has reported six deaths, Himachal Pradesh five while Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh and Assam have recorded four deaths each so far.
Meghalaya has reported one COVID-19 fatality so far, the ministry data said.
According to the ministry's website, more than 70 per cent of the deaths are due to comorbidities.
According to the health ministry data updated in the morning, the highest number of confirmed cases in the country are from Maharashtra at 54,758 followed by Tamil Nadu at 17,728, Gujarat at 14,821, Delhi at 14,465, Rajasthan at 7,536, Madhya Pradesh at 7,024 and Uttar Pradesh at 6,548.
The number of COVID-19 cases has gone up to 4,009 in West Bengal, 3,171 in Andhra Pradesh and 2,983 in Bihar.
It has risen to 2,283 in Karnataka, 2,106 in Punjab, 1,991 in Telangana, 1,759 in Jammu and Kashmir and 1,517 in Odisha.
Haryana has reported 1,305 coronavirus infection cases so far, while Kerala has 963 cases.
A total of 616 people have been infected with the virus in Assam and 426 in Jharkhand. Uttarakhand has 401 cases, Chhattisgarh 361, Chandigarh 266, Himachal Pradesh 247, Tripura 207 and Goa has registered 67 cases so far.
Ladakh has reported 53 COVID-19 cases. Puducherry has 46 instances of infection, Manipur 39, while Andaman and Nicobar Islands has registered 33 coronavirus cases.
Meghalaya has registered 15 cases. Nagaland has reported four instances of infection, Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Arunachal Pradesh have reported two cases each, while Mizoram and Sikkim have reported a case each till now.
"A total of 4,013 cases are being reassigned to states," the ministry said on its website, adding its "figures are being reconciled with the ICMR".
State-wise distribution is subject to further verification and reconciliation, it said.

While China was the first country to report disease last December and recorded over 84,000 total cases so far, India that reported its first case in January end now has 1,65,799 cases that is more than Turkey's (1,60,979).
The only good news for India is that it has shown a 42.88 per cent recovery with 71,105 of the patients who contacted the disease being cured and sent back home. In the past 24 hours, 175 deaths were also reported.
Delhi and Tamil Nadu showed jump of around 1,000 cases as Maharashtra continued to contribute a lion's share, it was still the worst hit state that reported 59,546 cases so far. Tamil Nadu now has 19,372 and Delhi 16,281 cases.
Gujarat reported 15,562 cases, Rajasthan 8,067, Madhya Pradesh 7,453 and Uttar Pradesh 7,170.
Kerala which had almost flatten the curve, is witnessing a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases, there are now 1,088.
The number of cases have spiked in the North East, with Assam having 856 cases.
Other States and UTs have also reported steady increase and West Bengal now has 4,536 cases, Telangana (2,256), Punjab (2,158), Jammu and Kashmir (2,036), Bihar (3,296) and Andhra Pradesh(3,251).

The active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) climbed to 97,581 and as many as 95,526 people have recovered and one patient has migrated, according to the data.

Around 48.07 per cent patients have recovered so far, a ministry official said.
Out of the 204 more deaths since Monday morning, 76 were in Maharashtra, 50 in Delhi, 25 in Gujarat and 11 in Tamil Nadu.
Eight people each died of COVID-19 in West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh, followed by six in Telangana, and four each in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
There were three more fatalities each in Bihar and Jammu and Kashmir, two in Andhra Pradesh, and one each in Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala and Uttarakhand.
Maharashtra tops the list with 2,362 out of the total 5,598 deaths, followed by 1,063 in Gujarat, 523 in Delhi, 358 in Madhya Pradesh and 335 in West Bengal.
There have been 217 coronavirus deaths so far in Uttar Pradesh, while 198 succumbed to the infection in Rajasthan, 184 in Tamil Nadu, 88 in Telangana and 64 in Andhra Pradesh.
The toll due to the pandemic reached 52 in Karnataka and 45 in Punjab, while 31 people died in Jammu and Kashmir and 24 in Bihar.
Twenty-one people died from the pathogen in Haryana, followed by 10 in Kerala and seven in Odisha.
There have been six COVID-19 fatalities in Uttarakhand, while five people each died in Himachal Pradesh and Jharkhand.
Chandigarh and Assam registered four deaths each so far, while there has been a fatality each in Meghalaya and Chhattisgarh, according to the ministry data.
More than 70 per cent of the deaths are due to comorbidities, it said.

The worst-hit state continues to be Maharashtra with a total of 77,793 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu with 27,256, Delhi with 25,004 cases and Gujarat with 18,584.
The national capital after Maharashtra (41,402) reported the most number of active cases at 14,456. In Tamil Nadu there are 12,134 active cases while in Gujarat 4,762.
States with over 5,000 cases so far are Rajasthan (9,862) Madhya Pradesh (8,762), Uttar Pradesh (9,237) and West Bengal (6,876).

India is the fifth worst-hit nation by the COVID-19 pandemic after the US, Brazil, Russia and the UK, according to data issued by the Johns Hopkins University.
The active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) climbed to 1,33,632 and as many as 1,35, 206 people have recovered and one patient has migrated, according to the data. It may be noted here that for the first time, the number of recovery cases have surpassed the number of active cases in the country.

A total of 325 people died during the same time taking the toll to 9,520 so far since the first case was reported on January 30, the Health Ministry data said.
For the seventh consecutive day, the number of recoveries (1,69,797) remained higher than the active ones (1,53,106).
Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state in the country with total cases crossing the one lakh mark -- 1,07,958 cases, including 3,950 deaths. Maharashtra witnessed a spike of 3,390 cases in last 24 hours with 120 fatalities.
It is followed by Tamil Nadu with 44,661 cases and the national capital with 41,182 Covid-19 cases.
Delhi witnessed a growth of 2,224 cases in last 24 hours with 56 deaths taking the total number of fatalities in the national capital to 1,327.
States with more than 10,000 cases include Gujarat with 23,544 cases and 1,477 deaths, Uttar Pradesh (13,615), Rajasthan (12,694), Madhya Pradesh (10,802) and West Bengal (11,087).
The overall number of global COVID-19 cases was nearing 7.9 million, while the death toll has surged to over 4,32,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
As of Monday morning, the total number of cases stood at 78,93,700, while the fatalities stood at 4,32,922, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.
With 20,93,508 cases and 1,15,732 deaths, the US continues with the world's highest number of COVID-19 infections and fatalities, according to the CSSE.

For the eight consecutive days, the number of recoveries (180,012) remained higher than the active ones (153,178). The recovery rate of India has also crossed the 50 per cent mark.
Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state in the country with total cases crossing the one lakh mark -- 1,10,744 cases, including 4,128 deaths. Maharashtra witnessed a spike of 2,786 cases in the last 24 hours with 178 fatalities.

As of Tuesday morning, the total number of cases stood at 8,015,053, while the fatalities increased to 436,322, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.
With 2,113,372 cases and 116,135 deaths, the US continues with the world's highest number of infections and fatalities, according to the CSSE.
In terms of cases, Brazil comes in second place with 888,271 infections.
This was followed by Russia (536,484), India (332,424), the UK (298,315), Spain (244,109), Italy (237,290), Peru (232,992), France (194,305), Iran (189,876), Germany (187,682), Turkey (179,831), Chile (179,436), Mexico (150,264), Pakistan (144,478), Saudi Arabia (132,048) and Canada (100,763), the CSSE figures showed.
With 43,959 COVID-19 deaths, Brazil accounts for the second-highest number of fatalities in the world.
The other countries with over 10,000 deaths are the UK (41,821), Italy (34,371), France (29,439), Spain (27,136) and Mexico (17,580).

This is a steady rise of spike in cases for last eight days when India crossed over 10,000 cases each day.
With 336 deaths in the last 24 hours, a total of 12,573 people have succumbed to the deadly disease since the first case was reported on January 30, the Health Ministry data said.
Of the 336 new deaths reported till Friday morning, 100 were in Maharashtra, 65 in Delhi, 49 in Tamil Nadu, 31 in Gujarat, 30 in Uttar Pradesh, 12 each in Karnataka and West Bengal, 10 in Rajasthan, six in Jammu and Kashmir, five in Punjab, four each in Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, three in Telangana, two in Andhra Pradesh and one each in Assam, Jharkhand and Kerala.
For the 10th consecutive day, the number of recoveries (204,710) remained higher than the active ones (163,248). More than half of the patients who contracted the disease have recovered so far.
Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state in the country with total cases crossing the one lakh mark -- 1,20,504 cases, including 5,751 deaths. Maharashtra alone reported 3,752 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours with 100 fatalities due to pandemic.
Tamil Nadu and Delhi both witnessed spike of more than 2,000 cases. Tamil Nadu, which is second most affected state witnessed a spike of 2,141 cases taking the total tally to 52,334 cases.
The national capital recorded 49,979 total corona cases. Delhi witnessed a record growth of 2,877 cases in the last 24 hours and a total of 1,969 deaths.
States with more than 10,000 cases include Gujarat with 25,601 cases and 1,591 deaths, Uttar Pradesh (15,181), Rajasthan (13,857), Madhya Pradesh (11,426) and West Bengal (12,735).

US Covid-19 cases top 2.4 million
The number of Covid-19 cases in the US topped 2.4 million on Thursday, reaching 2,404,781, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
Meanwhile, the national death toll reached 122,370, according to the tally, Xinhua reported.
New York remains the hardest-hit state with 390,415 cases and 31,276 fatalities. Other states with over 100,000 cases include California, New Jersey, Illinois, Texas, Florida, and Massachusetts, the tally showed.
UK Covid-19 death toll rises to 43,230
Another 149 Covid-19 patients have died in Britain, bringing the total coronavirus-related death toll in the country to 43,230, the British Department of Health and Social Care said on Thursday.
The figures include deaths in all settings, including hospitals, care homes and the wider community.
As of Thursday morning, 307,980 people have tested positive for the disease in Britain, a daily increase of 1,118, according to the department, Xinhua reported.
As of Thursday morning, there have been 8,710,292 tests of the novel coronavirus in the country, with 167,023 tests on Wednesday, said the department.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Tuesday that the current 2-metre social distancing rule will be loosened from July 4 to "1 metre plus" in England so as to further ease the coronavirus lockdown.
Johnson also announced that from July 4, pubs, restaurants and hairdressers, among others, will be able to reopen, providing they adhere to Covid-19 prevention guidelines.
However, some experts have warned that the chances of catching Covid-19 are going up in Britain.
Israel reports 356 new COVID-19 cases, 22,400 in total
The number of coronavirus cases in Israel has risen to 22,400 after 356 new ones were added, the Ministry of Health said.
The death toll from the virus rose from 308 to 309, while the number of patients in serious condition increased from 46 to 47, out of 186 patients currently hospitalised, Xinhua reported citing the ministry.
The number of recoveries reached 16,007, with 67 new ones, while the number of active cases increased to 6,084, the highest since May 3.
Earlier on Thursday, a special ministerial committee decided to impose restrictions on the coastal cities of Bat Yam and Ashdod given their high morbidity rates, according to a joint statement by the prime minister's office and the health ministry.
This decision includes the closure of schools, ban on gatherings of more than 10, and increased enforcement of the general restrictions
Chinese mainland reports 13 new confirmed Covid-19 cases
Chinese health authority said on Friday it received reports of 13 newly confirmed Covid-19 cases in the Chinese mainland on Thursday, including 11 domestically transmitted and two imported ones.
All the 11 domestically transmitted cases were reported in Beijing, the National Health Commission said in its daily report, Xinhua reported.
No deaths related to the disease were reported on Thursday, according to the commission.
