Mass rail blockades on Tuesday by the Kudumi community in various railway stations severely disrupted train services in Baripada of Mayurbhanj district. Demanding tribal status to their community, hundreds of people from the community sat on railway tracks and joined the protest.

The community has been excluded from scheduled tribe list in 1950 and listed under other backward caste (OBC) category.
