Those interpreting the Karnataka results as an early indicator of the defeat of the BJP in the coming Lok Sabha elections would do well to remember what happened the last time.

In the 224-member Karnataka Assembly, 113 is the magic figure which the political parties need to reach in order to stake claim to form the government.

According to the ABP/C-Voter Exit Poll, in the Greater Bangalore region, the BJP is likely to win 17 out of the 32 seats, while the Congress is projected to win 13 seats with JD(S) coming a distant with just two seats.

The voting, which began at 7 a.m., will continue till 6 p.m.
