Raaj Kamal Films International, which produced the film, took to Twitter to make the announcement. It said: "'Pathala Pathala Video' hits 10 M Views."

Vikram, which has been showered by praises from people in various segments, continues to hog the spotlight. The movie hasn't just impressed Indian trade circles, but has left even International markets awestruck.
Written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the Kamal Haasan-Vijay Sethupathi-Fahadh Faasil-Suriya starrer had its worldwide theatrical release on June 3, 2022.
Vikram has broken several box office records and has officially become the number one top grosser in Tamil Nadu. This is a fact that has been confirmed by the producers, distributors and exhibitors.
The movie is to have its worldwide OTT premiere on Disney plus Hotstar. The film will be available in Tamil, Telugu & Hindi from July 8.
On the other hand, Vikram has already reached the 50 crores collection mark which is a big thing considering Kamal has been out of the mainstream cinema for such a long time.
Prabhas Pens Note for Prashanth Neel
Prashanth Neel and Prabhas have teamed up for Salaar which also stars Shruti Haasan. Interestingly there were rumours a few days ago that the KGF director is not happy with the weight of the Baahubali star and has asked him to lose weight and till then he has kept the shooting for Salaar on hold. Yesterday on Prashanth’s birthday, Prabhas penned a beautiful note indicating that all is well between the director and the actor.

Adivi Sesh’s Major based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan has received a very good response with fans and critics appreciating both Adivi and Saiee Manjrekar’s performances in the movie. Tollywood superstar Allu Arjun also showered praise on Adivi Sesh and Major movie calling the flick heart touching and the work of Adivi as the Major excellent.
Pooja Hegde Starts Training for Jana Gana Mana
Pooja Hegde has signed a high-action thriller with Vijay Deverakonda in which she will be doing some stunning action scenes. The actress created a buzz by kicking off the shoot of Jana Gana Mana with her training for the high combat for which special masters from Thailand have been hired. Until now, Pooja has mostly done simple, romantic roles. But this movie might prove to be a game-changer for Indian beauty.
It is not without reason that he is hailed as the 'Ulaganayagan' (or world leader) by those in Tamil cinema.
The master craftsman, who has fine-tuned his acting skills to the point of perfection, has earned the admiration and affection of scores of not just fans, but also actors and professionals from across all film industries.
From the time he began his acting career as a young adult in 'Kalathur Kannamma' (1960) till 'Vikram', the first look of which was released on November 6, Kamal Haasan as an artiste has continued to impress consistently.
What's more, he seems to be getting better and better, outdoing himself each time he becomes a part of a project.
Kamal's expertise in acting needs no introduction, nor any explanation. The level of skill that the actor possesses was best explained by director Shankar in an interview several years ago.
Shankar said: "Kamal sir observes everything while we narrate a story to him. When we read out a scene to him, he knows what the director expects of him. We don't need a trolley, or a jimmy jib, or any extra addition for a Kamal Haasan shot. You can take the camera and zoom in on his face. Irrespective of the length of the shot, he will be able to hold your attention. You can keep a close-up, or have a lengthy shot. All you need to do is just watch and admire!"
To most people, the significance of this statement would go unnoticed. Close-ups are kept only when a director is supremely confident of the actor's skills as there is very little room for error on the artiste's part when such a shot is placed. Add to this the fact that the shot is a lengthy one and you have an idea of the level of consistency an actor has to be able to deliver.
Kamal Haasan is as fascinating a thinker as he is an actor. The passionate actor is a voracious reader whose extensive knowledge on a number of topics, including history, leaves you dumbfounded. Kamal doesn't stop with just reading. He goes on to think about what he has read, accumulating and building on the information that he has acquired.
During the course of an interview, this writer had once posed a question on his unfinished historical drama, 'Marudhanayagam', a story that the actor has been dying to tell the world.
Marudhanayagam's story was not known to many, even in Tamil Nadu, until Kamal Haasan began making a movie on his life. It was Kamal who pointed out that Marudhanayagam's revolt against the East India Company began almost a 100 years before the Rebellion of 1857, which is also hailed as the First Indian War of Independence.
The actor went on to explain that what the British had to spend to get rid of Marudhanayagam was more than the amount that the US had to expend to vanquish Saddam Hussein. The Indian warrior from southern Tamil Nadu is said to have infuriated the British so much, that after hanging him, they had his body dismembered and his body parts displayed on the principal gateways of the city of Madurai before sending it across to other places as a warning.
During the course of the interview, this writer pointed out to the actor that there were three different versions of the warrior's life. One, by the English, one by the French, and one by the Indians, almost half-certain the actor wouldn't have heard of the other versions. Kamal nonchalantly replied that he had gone through all the versions and had picked the one of the English, whom the warrior had fought.
It was then that this writer realised what a voracious reader he was and how he had managed to associate other events to what he had already read and point out what really had to be highlighted.
When you are as gifted as someone such as Kamal Haasan, settling on his life's mission can be a problem for him. But then, the actor also has the ability to prioritise.
Several years ago, when he was first asked what he would want people to remember him as, Kamal said, "I want people to remember me as a good artiste."
Several years later, the same question was posed to him during an interview by a different media outlet. The actor recalled his earlier reply and then said he had evolved. He said, "What I want to be first remembered as is as a good human being. And then, maybe as a good human being, who could also act."
In a tweet on Sunday, Stalin said, "I express my sweet birthday wishes to my dear friend, 'Kalaignani' Kamal Haasan, one of the finest actors of Indian cinema and the President of the Makkal Needhi Maiam. I wish him good health and urge him to continue his good services."

Responding to the chief minister's tweet in Tamil, Kamal said, "To my dear friend M.K. Stalin, who has emerged as a fine example among chief ministers, your wholehearted birthday wishes have added more colour to my birthday."
Stalin's Kerala counterpart, Pinarayi Vijayan, also extended his birthday greetings to Kamal Haasan.
Taking to Twitter, Vijayan wrote, "Hearty birthday wishes dear @ikamalhaasan. You have always stood by Kerala in our every need. We are proud of your precious contributions to our cinema and culture. I wish you more happiness and success in your life and career."
The actor was swift to respond. He tweeted back: "Kerala was my first shelter which fostered me into lead roles in cinema. Apart from that I admire Malayalees and you sir @vijayanpinarayi for being their valorous and benevolent leader. Thank you."

It wasn't just the Kerala Chief Minister who greeted the Tamil actor. Malayalam superstar Mammootty also extended his birthday greetings, wishing Kamal Hassan "a great year ahead".
Six-time National Award-winning lyricist Vairamuthu too took to Twitter to post his birthday greetings to Kamal Haasan. "Just like what Kalaignar Karunanidhi said about MGR, I too can say about Kamal Haasan: 'He has been my 40-year friend'," the lyricist tweeted.
He likened the gifted actor to a burning flame that looks to move up, even when a matchstick is held down and asked what could victories or defeats do to such a person.
Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu too was among the scores of others who wished Kamal Haasan a happy birthday. He tweeted, "To the epitome of excellence. Wishing you a very happy birthday @ikamalhaasan sir!"
The unit of Kamal Haasan's 'Vikram' wished him a happy birthday by releasing the first look of the film on Saturday evening.
Haasan is seeking "cheap publicity" which cannot be accepted. The state government will take legal action against the actor if he continues levelling "baseless charges against the government", Jayakumar told reporters here.
Jayakumar said there are forums where Haasan can voice his complaint.
The actor in his latest tweet said: "It is a crime if the government is involved in looting. It is also a crime if it is not proved after detection.
"Criminals should not rule the country. The people and the government elected by them should act. The people should be the umpire. Let us all wake up and arise."
Haasan did not make any reference to the recent Income Tax (IT) raids on the residences of late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, jailed AIADMK leader V.K. Sasikala's kin and business associates.
The IT officials had said Rs 1,430 crore of tax evasion was found apart from diamonds, gold jewellery and cash during the massive raids at Sasikala's kin and their business associates' premises.
Sasikala and two of her relatives have been jailed in a disproportionate assets case.
A.R. Murugadoss directed "Sarkar", a political thriller, hit the screens on Tuesday. Ever since its release, many AIADMK ministers and party cadres expressed their displeasure over certain scenes in the film.
Several party cadres on Wednesday protested outside various theatres in Tamil Nadu and indulged in damaging the banners of the film and cut-outs of Vijay.
They also demanded certain scenes to be removed from the film.
Rajinikanth lashed out against these acts. He took to Twitter and wrote in Tamil: "To protest for the removal of certain scenes from the movie and stop it from being screened after the Censor Board has certified it is against the law. I strong condemn this act."
On Thursday, actor-politician Kamal Haasan had also strongly objected the actions of AIADMK government regarding the issue.
"It isn't new for this government to act and pressurize against a film like Sarkar, which has completed its censor formalities properly. A government that can't face criticism can go off the tangent. Commercialised politicians will soon be vanished and the good people would win," Haasan tweeted.
If the grapevine is anything to go by, "Sarkar" team has agreed to mute scenes that have been termed controversial.
However, the makers of the film Sun Picture are yet to officially announce if they are muting scenes.
Despite opening to mixed reviews and getting embroiled in controversies, "Sarkar" managed to gross over Rs 100 crore in just two days at the box-office.
In the film, Vijay plays an NRI who returns to India to vote, only to realise his vote has been cast illegally. He then digs deep into the matter, stirring up a political turmoil.
The release date of the movie, directed, produced and written by Kamal, was announced via a statement on Monday.
Kamal, who is now active in the political arena, is also acting as the protagonist of the film.
The Hindi version of this bilingual will be presented by Rohit Shetty and Reliance Entertainment. The Tamil version and the Telugu dubbed version is produced by Raajkamal Films International for Aascar Films Pvt Ltd.
Its trailer is to be launched later on Monday. Aamir Khan will digitally launch the Hindi trailer, while Shruti Haasan will do it for the Tamil Version and NTR Jr for the Telugu dubbed version.
It also opposed the operation of copper smelter plant of the Vedanta group in Tuticorin.
The protest organised by the South Indian Film Artistes Association, popularly known as Nadigar Sangam, saw the participation of members of Tamil Film Producers Council and Film Employees Federation of South India.
Leading actors, movie and music directors and other technicians participated in the protest. Among those present were music directors Illayaraja, Shankar-Ganesh, actors Surya, Vijay, Vishal, Prashanth and others.
According to Nadigar Sangam President Nasser, the silent protest is held to convey one message -- the constitution of the CMB and the CWRC.
He said allowing participants to speak might divert the issue instead of showing the solidarity with the farmers.
Earlier, speaking to reporters outside his residence, Rajinikanth said the central government will earn the wrath of Tamil Nadu people if the CMB and CWRC were not set up.
He also said the players of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) should wear black badges while playing the Indian Premier League (IPL) match here so that the issue was known throughout the nation.
He said the spectators too should wear black badges.
On the Sterlite copper smelter plant of Vedanta group, Rajinikanth said the five elements -- air, water, earth, fire and ether/sky or space -- should not be polluted even if it earns crores of revenue.
Sharing the Google data analytics of the party's digital presence, the spokesperson said the data pertains to 48 hours after the party's website was launched.
Kamal Haasan formally launched MNM on February 21 at Madurai. The website was launched on the same day at 7.27 p.m., according to the spokesperson.
However, it is not known how many of the member registrations are by people who are voters registered in Tamil Nadu.
According to MNM, the party's website attracted traffic from countries like India, the US, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, the UK, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Canada.
In his message broadcast through video at the public meeting where Kamal launched his party "Makkal Neethi Maiyam" (People Justice Centre), Vijayan expressed the hope that his entry into politics would enrich the political life in Tamil Nadu.
Starting his greetings with a few remarks in Tamil, the Kerala Chief Minister said he felt honoured to convey his greetings to Kamal, who was launching a political party to serve the people. "He is dear to me and the people of Kerala also," he said.
Recalling that Kamal started his film career in Kerala, Vijayan said Kamal had acted as a bridge between Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
He said Tamil Nadu was known for the social and political reformist movements, which have had an effect in Kerala politics too.
"I am sure his entry into political life will enrich the political life of Tamil Nadu and hope he will uphold ideals of secularism, democracy and pluralism in his politics," Vijayan said.
Scheduled to unveil his party's name and flag at a public rally later in the day in Madurai, Kamal met the former President's elder brother and other family members at the residence here.
"Greatness can come from simple beginnings," he said.
"Actually it will come only from simplicity. Glad to start my journey from a great man's simple abode," the actor added in a tweet.
However, his second halt at the government school in Mandapam where Kalam studied got cancelled as the district administration did not give permission. A leader of a Hindu outfit said they had opposed Kamal's visit to the school as he was trying to gain political mileage and nothing more.
Later speaking to the fishing community in Rameswaram, Kamal said that it is one of the most important industries in Tamil Nadu. He would be back to listen to the suggestions made by the fisherfolks.
Several flags in white with Tamil Nadu map in black, sporting the tag line "Naalai Namadhe" meaning "Tomorrow is Ours" were seen flying in Rameswaram. Bharatiya Janata Party's Tamil Nadu unit leader Tamilisai Soundararajan told reporters that Kamal appeared to have "started a political party to compete against someone".
She said while anyone can float a political party, Tamil Nadu is not in a situation where only Kamal can save it. On the other hand, Dalit party leader Thol. Thirumavalan told reporters that Kamal and Rajinikanth are agents of the BJP to affect DMK in Tamil Nadu.
Kamal arrived here to a rousing welcome on the eve of the launch of his political party on Wednesday even as DMK Working President M K Stalin appeared to take a dig at film personalities taking a plunge into politics saying paper flowers which do not have fragrance will bloom during a season but they will wither very soon.
"The party flag will be hoisted in the evening in Madurai when the idea behind the flag will be detailed," Kamal told reporters on arrival in Madurai.
Earlier in the day on Tuesday, actor Seeman, who strongly opposes Rajinikanth on the basis of his non-Tamil origin, met Kamal at his home in Chennai.
He told reporters that Kamal had expressed a wish to meet him but he felt that he should come to his residence because he was elder to him. Seeman also recalled that he also hailed from Ramanathapuram district.
Kamal called on DMK president M Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence to seek his blessings. Stalin was also present then.
The actor-turned-politician, who is set to announce his party and its guiding principles this month, believes Hindu extremism is a threat and he cannot just keep complaining about it.
"Except for the two films which are coming out, there will be no more films for me," declared Haasan in an interview to private news channel India Today at Harvard University in Boston.
On being asked whether he would stick to politics even if he loses the election, he said, "I will have to do something for an honest living. But I don't think I am going to lose."
As for his confidence, the superstar said, "I may not have been a political entity but we have been in social service for 37 years. In these 37 years, we have collected about 10 lakh loyal workers.
"They are with me for the past 37 years. At my instruction, they have engaged more and more younger people in our welfare movement over the years including about 250 lawyers. All would become volunteers."
The 63-year-old actor, who is forming a new political party, added, "I am earnest. I am not here to improve my bank account. I could have led a happy, retired, popular life. My decision to come into politics is as I do not want to die merely as an actor. I will die in the service of people and that I have promised myself."
Haasan said the colour of his politics is "black" and he is concerned about saffron colour. He said black in his politics reflects a Dravidian tone and the dark skin.
"It's culturally not a bad colour for us Tamils."
However, he surely does not plan to align with saffron colour (BJP).
"Ideologically, I believe in certain kind of India. It's nothing new. We have always been practising. It worked well for me. I am not a guy who hates change but not this kind of drastic change -- monolithic and monoculture."
Claiming himself to be a fan of both Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, the actor said, "This country in all its diversity is what makes India for me."
Asked how alarming Hindu extremism was and the ways to tackle it, Haasan said, "It is not yet looming large but it will if you allow it to go on in this direction, which we should not. We have a reputation to keep. We need to keep talking to them, dialogue is the only way."
Haasan went on to clarify that he is not a Hindu hater. "I cannot be hating Hindus or be the virodhi (opponent) of Hindus as I have many in the family. I am just saying this kind of extremism is bad for our lot."
On whether there would be any alliance with another superstar of Tamil cinema Rajinikanth, who has also announced his entry into politics, Haasan said if Rajinikanth's colour of politics is saffron then there would be no alliance.
"I am to announce my party and then the guiding principles. He (Rajinikanth) has to do that and then we can juxtapose," Haasan said adding his party's guiding principles would be released on February 21.
Haasan was at Harvard University to collect ideas for his project to adopt eight villages in different districts of Tamil Nadu and turn them into model villages.
"We will embark on a tour to Rameswaram, Madurai and Sivaganga and other places and will adopt a village. We want to give them the basic requirements -- health, education, power, clean water and it's not impossible. The villages we have selected are truly neglected villages," he said.
Haasan revealed that his decision to get into politics was made about 10-12 years ago but was not sure of going about it. Now that he has, he said, "I can't keep complaining and get angry. You have to (get into politics). Unless you do that you cannot bring the reforms I am envisioning for Tamil Nadu."
Though the filmstar-turned-politician strongly believes the voters, disenchanted from AIADMK, would favour him over the DMK, he said, "I do not dream of being that (Chief Minister). I dream of things that I can do for the people."
He made the announcement in a statement issued late on Tuesday night, saying his purpose in life is to "challenge the status quo that has been plaguing the politics of Tamil Nadu for some time now".
"I intend to embark on a journey across the state from February 21, 2018 to truly understand as to what the needs of my people are?, what is afflicting them?, what their aspirations are?
"Further, this momentous journey of meeting people across Tamil Nadu is neither an act of rebellion nor is it a gathering for glamour. Simply put, this is a journey of discovery and learning and an opportunity for me to truly understand my people," said Haasan, 63.
This, he said, is being planned and executed in phases and over a period of time.
"I believe it will be truly appropriate if my political journey commences from the place of my birth and hometown Ramanathapuram. Following this, I intend on meeting and spending time with the people from the districts of Madurai, Dindigul and Sivagangai.
"In addition, at the commencement of the journey, I intend to announce the name of my political party along with the guiding principles we intend to live by," Haasan added.
With his political foray, Haasan intends to "question mediocrity and raise the bar on governance and welfare for the people of Tamil Nadu".
"The journey is intended towards that goal. I begin this journey with your support. Join hands with me to empower our country and state," said the acclaimed actor, who feels the love he has for people of the state needs to be "manifested in action and deed".
At a function to mark the 39th anniversary of his fan/welfare club, he said his political plunge by starting a political party is confirmed.
Haasan said the political party launch will happen in a calm manner and the launch of mobile app is the first step on November 7.
He said his fans would contribute funds for the political party and the mobile app will facilitate keeping proper accounts of funds collected.
According to him, there is no shame in stretching out one's hands for the welfare of the people and if only the rich pay their taxes properly, the country would be on the right path.
Kamal said November 7 is a day not to cut a cake and celebrate but a day to cut canals, obliquely referring to the flooding of several localities in the city due to recent rains.
The actor added natural disasters does not differentiate between rich and poor and all should be ready to take preventive measures then acting after the loss of dear ones.
According to him, suppression has become part of politics and it is not important how many people are threatening you, but what is important is what you are going to do.
The actor said he is ready to take a beating but he is not a "mridangam" (a percussion instrument) to get hit again and again.
Referring to the statement made by Haasan on Thursday in a column in a weekly magazine, Mahasabha leader Pt. Ashok Sharma said these people accused the followers of Hinduism of Hindu terror only to "push their own biased communal agenda".
"There is no other way to handle people like Kamal Haasan but to either hang them or shoot them dead," he said.
Angered by the uncharitable remarks of Kamal Haasan, Sharma -- the national Vice President of the Hindu group -- said that people who used such language or were so biased against the Hindu religion and its faithfuls had no right to live.
Members of the Mahasabha have also announced to boycott all films of the 62-year-old actor and all actors from his family, including his daughter Shruti Haasan, who acts in Hindi films. The outfit has also exhorted others to follow the suit and boycott films of such artistes.
But as their "cunningness" started to fail, they began to resort to violence, he said to a Tamil magazine.
"Extremism has spread into their camp as well," the actor said. "This extremism is not a victory or progress to those who call themselves Hindus."
He moaned that these days festivals had been commercialized.
According to him, the older generation upper caste people who get jittery on seeing equality in society were now trying to impose Sanathana Dharma on the youth by coating it with honey.
This was being done through festivals, culture and art, he said.
Haasan said those opposed to the film must "counter criticism with a logical response".
"‘Mersal' was certified. Don't re-censor it. Counter criticism with logical response. Don't silence critics. India will shine when it speaks," Haasan tweeted on Friday.
Vijay has been panned for his dialogues in the film that takes a dig at GST and digital India. The actor, who had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during electioneering ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, had even lauded demonetisation last year.
Earlier, BJP's National Secretary H. Raja on Twitter raked up Vijay's Christian origins.
"Joseph Vijay's hatred for Modi is 'Mersal'," Raja posted on Friday.
Referring to the actor's dialogue in the movie, Raja tweeted that in the last 20 years, 17,500 churches, 9,700 mosques and 370 temples were built. Out of these what should be avoided to build hospitals, Raja posted.
Raja even said "Mersal" shows Vijay's ignorance in economic matters as the Goods and Services Tax (GST) is not a new tax and the tax on liquor is over 58 per cent.
Besides him, Tamil Nadu BJP President Tamilisai Soundararajan demanded removal of the dialogues relating to GST, digital payments and temples from the movie as they spread a wrong message.
She also wondered whether Vijay had asked his fans to distribute milk to poor children instead of pouring it on his cutouts erected outside the theatres.
Meanwhile, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the BJP's demand for removal of dialogues critical of the GST in Tamil movie "Mersal", asking him not to "demon-etise Tamil pride" by such interference.
In a tweet that was seemingly directed at Rajinikanth, Kamal said, "First they ignore you then they laugh at you then they fight you and then you win- Gandhi ji His words impart strength we need now."
He was apparently reacting to Rajini's remarks at the Sivaji Ganesan memorial unveiling event on Sunday that name and fame alone would not suffice for political success.
"There is something more needed to be successful in politics, and only the public knows what it is. Certainly I don't know that. I think Kamal Haasan knows it. He would have told me if i asked him two months ago . Now if i ask him, he will say come with me than I may tell you," Rajini had said in a lighter vein.
Both the stars are widely tipped to take a plunge into politics but they have not as yet disclosed their plans.
Kamal had been hinting about his political entry at every platform, but he chose to remain silent on Sunday and did not react to Rajini's remarks.
Rajinikanth also cited late actor Sivaji Ganesan and said he could not succeed in politics despite being immensely popular.
Referring to the loss suffered by the late actor after forming a political party, Rajini said "Sivaji (Ganesan) has left a lesson not just in cinema but also in politics."
"He started his own political party, fought and lost (elections) from his own constituency. This was not an insult to him, but the people of that constituency", Rajini said.
After the luncheon meeting at the actor's Eldams Road residence, Kejriwal, with Kamal Haasan by his side, told the media that it was important that when India was battling corruption and communalism, all like-minded people should talk to each other and work in tandem.
"I am really happy to learn that a large number of people of the country are against communalism and corruption but rarely people have the courage to speak their mind," the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader said.
"Kamal Haasan is a man of integrity and courage. He has the courage to stick his neck out and talk about communalism and corruption.
"A lot of people feel strongly against these things but don't come out and express," Kejriwal said. "Rather than from speaking from outside, he should enter politics and fight these forces."
The Chief Minister said they had a good discussion on these issues and the political situation in Tamil Nadu. "We will continue to discuss with each other," he said, without revealing their plans.
On his part, Kamal Haasan said it was an honour to learn that Kejriwal wanted to meet him. His residence was always politically active during his father's time though he himself had kept away from it, he said.
"You can very well guess what we would have discussed," said the actor, who has of late been making political statements. He added that whoever was fighting corruption and communalism were his relatives. "That way this relationship will continue."
He added: "The reason why we got together and the purpose is singular... Kejriwal has a national profile of fighting corruption and communalism. And whoever is fighting these forces are my relatives.
"I have a little reputation similar to that. It is no wonder that we decided to have a dialogue on the existing situation. It is a learning experience for me and a learning curve for me.
"I am on an educational tourism and asking anybody who is fighting corruption and communalism to give me advise on how to go about in my endeavour," he added.
The actor and the activist-turned-politician wound up the media interaction without taking any questions.
Kejriwal was received by Kamal Haasan's daughter Akshara at the airport and taken to his house.
Earlier, Kamal Haasan met Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and declared that "saffron is not my colour".
In recent times, the actor has been attacking the various factions in the AIADMK and lamenting about corruption in the state.
"Rajini and I have been discussing professional matters. If he joins politics, it won't be difficult for us to discuss politics. I will join him provided he enters politics. We have been rivals on the professional front, but we always consult over key issues," Haasan said on Friday, while addressing questions on video by a leading Tamil daily.
Asked if he has decided a date to launch his party, he said: "It should be decided without any hurry."
Haasan added that the day he plans to announce his party, it may "coincide with a revolution".
Over the last few months, Haasan has been very vocal about the current state of politics in Tamil Nadu.
Haasan has been dropping hints about taking the political plunge.
Earlier this month, Haasan had held talks with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and had told reporters that they had also discussed the state of politics in Tamil Nadu.
He also clarified that his colour is definitely not saffron when asked about his plans for any political affiliation.
Kamal Hassan tweeted: "No work no pay only for government employees? How about horse trading politicians languishing in resorts?"
The Tamil Nadu government has said the pay of its striking teachers and other employees would be cut for the days they don't work. The employees are on strike in support of various demands.
"The honourable court warns teachers on strike. I beseech the court to issue similar warnings to those MLAs who desist from attending work," Kamal Haasan said.
Interestingly, the Tamil Nadu government recently more than doubled the salaries of MLAs to Rs 105,000 per month.
Kamal Haasan has said he would float his own political party.
According to reports, the actor plans to contest in the local body elections in Tamil Nadu.
"Silencing a voice with a gun is the worst way to win a debate. Condolence to all those who are grieving Gauri's demise," Kamal, who last week hinted at forming a political party but made it clear he won't ally with the "saffron" -- the Hindu Right, tweeted.
Lankesh was gunned down at her Bengaluru home on Tuesday night by unidentified assailants.
Her killing led to wide spread protests and condemnation. Even Bollywood celebrities like Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar and Shekhar Kapur vehemently criticised the attack.
However, some on Twitter, apparently right-wing supporters, said the Kannada journalist "deserved" what she got.
Lankesh was on Wednesday given a state funeral by the Karnataka government.
"Recorded last song in 'Vishwaroopam 2'. Hindi Lyrics by Prasoon Joshi. Tamizh lyrics by me. Tune is infectious to say the least. Telugu to record soon," Haasan tweeted.
Earlier this year, Haasan said he is personally getting involved to pave way for the release of the much delayed "Vishwaroopam 2".
"For all looking forward to 'Vishwaroopam 2', I'm personally getting involved to clear the path. Bigger obstacles are out of the way. What's left is tech and legal," he said in an earlier tweet.
In the film, Kamal plays a RAW agent, and it also features Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar and Andrea Jeremiah in pivotal roles.
The film, which has music by Ghibran, was simultaneously shot in Tamil and Hindi. It has been dubbed in Telugu.
"A lavish house set on a budget of over Rs. 1 crore is being constructed at EVP theme park. The team is busy preparing the participants' list of 15 members, including two cricketers. The first season of the show will be aired from June 18 on Vijay TV," a source from the unit told IANS.
On taking up the role of the show's host, Haasan said in a statement: "When 'Bigg Boss' approached me to play the host, I funnily quipped, who better than me, right? All my life, I have been under a constant watch and have been judged on whatever I have done, public or private."
"But now, the roles are reversed, as I would stand with the audiences and watch these celebrities in the house survive this ordeal," he added.
Haasan, according to the source, will shoot for few episodes and then recommence work on his multi-lingual comedy film "Sabash Naidu".
Rajinikanth said his contemporary Kamal Haasan possibly knew what that something was, but might not want not share the secret with him.
The two stars were among a host of dignitaries at the inauguration of a memorial constructed by the Tamil Nadu government for the iconic actor Sivaji Ganesan.
To press his case, Rajinikanth cited the instance of the late thespian, saying that he could not succeed in politics despite being immensely popular.
"Sivaji (Ganesan) has left a lesson not just in cinema but also in politics. He started his own political party, fought and lost (elections) from his own constituency. This was not an insult to him, but the people of that constituency," he said at the function, attended by Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and Haasan, among others.
"So, the message is, to succeed in politics, it's not enough to just have fame and clout (earned in cinema). There is something beyond that... I don't know what it is," he said, adding that Kamal Haasan possibly knew what this was.
"But even if he knows it, he won't share it with me," he said, as the gathering laughed.
Tamil Nadu has had a rich history of cinema marrying politics. Ganesan's contemporary, M G Ramachandran, not only floated the AIADMK after walking out of the M Karunanidhi-led DMK, but also went on to become the state chief minister.
Of late, both Haasan and Rajinikanth have been indicating that they may join politics, with Hasasan taking repeated potshots at the ruling AIADMK over issues such as corruption and the spread of dengue.
AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had met Haasan here recently but while their meeting triggered speculation about a political alignment, the two did not make any announcements.
At the event today, Rajinikanth said Haasan might have shared with him the secret to success in politics "if I had asked for it two months ago".
"He might have shared it. When I say you (Haasan) are senior to me in cinema, and are like an elder brother and ask him to share that with me, he says come with me I will tell," he said.
Haasan had recently reportedly said he had held talks with Rajinikanth amid rumours that the two would join hands politically.
Heaping praise on Ganesan, Rajinikanth said the memorial, and an earlier statue put up in his honour by Karunanidhi when he was chief minister, were not installed only because he was an actor.
Such honours were in recognition of the fact that Ganesan brought to life freedom fighters and kings with his onscreen performance and took them to the masses, he said.
Rajinikanth recalled that Ganesan had vibuthi (sacred ash) on his forehead "at a time when atheism was at its peak".
"He touched great heights only due to his performances," he said.
The actor of mega hits such as Kabaali thanked late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for the memorial and Karunanidhi for the earlier installation.
Rajinikanth also said Panneerselvam was "fortunate" to have been able to inaugurate the memorial.
"Panneerselvam is very fortunate, it has been proved many times," he said in an obvious reference to the leader being made chief minister thrice-- twice when Jayalalithaa was convicted in different court cases, and later after her death in December 2016.
Haasan, who is at loggerheads with the ruling AIADMK, said Ganesan was an actor who had "transcended" all kinds of boundaries -- political, regional and national.
"If I had not been in cinema, I would have been a fan and even if I was not allowed entry here, I would have been waiting (outside). None could have stopped me," he said.
Any government has to respect "this great artiste and they will respect him... No need to compel or plead with anyone...It will happen by itself," he said in an apparent reference to the controversy surrounding today's function.
Earlier, many sections including Ganesan's actor son Prabhu, opposition DMK and fans of the late star had demanded that top leaders of the government including Chief Minister K Palaniswami inaugurate the building though originally Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar and his cabinet colleague Kadambur Raju (Information Minister) were supposed to have led the event.
Palaniswami had later clarified that he could not attend the function because of prior commitments, even as he expressed his respect and admiration for Ganesan.
He, however, deputed Panneerselvam to inaugurate the building, constructed at an estimated Rs 2.80 crore.
Haasan thanked the "film world, government and politics for allowing" him to felicitate Ganesan today.
The 84-year-old Dadasaheb Phalke award winner, who carved out a niche for himself on the national stage with memorable films like 'Arangetram', 'Aval Oru Thodarkadhai', Rajini and Haasan-starrer 'Apoorva Raagangal', 'Avargal', 'Ek Duje Ke Liye' and 'Aaina', died of heart attack following a brief illness.
Popularly known as KB, Kailasam Balachander broke away from the staple Tamil films of that time in the early '70s by championing bold themes and the cause of women and downtrodden in his films and was a trend-setter.
He often courted controversies, the early one of which was portrayal of a Brahmin girl as a prostitute that shook the community to which he belonged.
Hailed as "Iyakunar Sigaram" (peak among directors), Balachander stood out for experimenting with new faces like Saritha, Sujatha, Mohan, Prakash Raj, comedian Vivek and character artiste Nazar. A tough taskmaster, he brought out the best from his actors.
Balachander, who was hospitalised following age related ailments on December 3, breathed his last at 7.02 pm today, hospital authorities said.
"He suffered a heart attack by 6.45 pm and he succumbed to it. His infection too had intensified. Though the fever was under control there was little that we could do given his age," a hospital spokesperson said.
The yet-untitled remake will be produced by Gemini Film Circuit, which had earlier remade Rajkumar Hirani's "Munnabhai M.B.B.S." and "3 Idiots" as "Vasool Raja M.B.B.S." and "Nanban", respectively.
"Gemini Film Circuit has acquired the film's remake rights and Kamal Haasan is expected to play the lead. Gemini had already remade two of Hirani's films and they were really impressed with 'PK' too," a source close to the production house told IANS.
Haasan is yet to take a call on the director for the project, while the rest of the cast will be finalised soon.
"Kamal sir will choose the director of his choice. He might even direct it," said the source.
"PK", which was produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, and starred Aamir Khan, turned out to be biggest grossing Indian film.
Meanwhile, Haasan is currently the release of his Tamil films "Uttama Villain" and "Papanasam".
Apart, from Hassan, the film also reportedly stars Malayalam superstar Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupati in pivotal roles.
AnbAriv are well known for their action sequences in films such as Iru Mugan, Master, Singam 3, Kaithi, Nota, Kabali and K.G.F: Chapter 1.
The action choreographer duo had also won the National Film Award for Best Stunt Choreographer in 2019 for K.G.F: Chapter 1. With them onboard, 'Vikram' will definitely have some mind-blowing action sequences.
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj welcomed the action masters on board and revealed the news on his Twitter handle. “Welcome onboard @anbariv Masters @ikamalhaasan @RKFI#Vikram,” wrote Kanagaraj.

Kamal will be promoting his upcoming film "Vishwaroop 2" -- the Hindi version of which will be presented by Rohit Shetty and Anil Ambani-led Reliance Entertainment -- in the Salman-hosted show, read a statement.
There's a common thread between the two actors -- "Bigg Boss". The Hindi version of the show is hosted by Salman, while the Tamil version is led by Kamal.
In 2013, during the release of "Vishwaroop", when the controversy of banning the film was all over India, Salman had taken a stand and had strongly appealed his fans to watch it. Salman had also attended the film's special screening by Kamal.

Now once again, the "Dabangg" star is going all out to support Kamal's film.
The trailer of "Vishwaroop 2" was released in June.
Written, directed and produced by Kamal, it also stars Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Shekhar Kapur, Rahul Bose, Jaideep Ahlawat and Waheeda Rehman.
"Vishwaroop 2" is scheduled to release on August 10. It is a bilingual shot in Tamil and Hindi, and also dubbed in Telugu.
At the Rotaract Annual District Conference held here, Kamal Haasan said Gram Sabha is there for decades and only after he started holding such meetings in villages in Tamil Nadu that others started copying that.
The founder of MNM party was obliquely referring to DMK President M.K. Stalin and others holding Gram Sabha meetings.
"Are you not ashamed of copying from a small boy?" he said.
At another point, Kamal Haasan said he cannot be wearing a torn shirt, and even if his shirt gets torn in the Assembly, he would wear another shirt.
Kamal Haasan was obliquely referring to Stalin, who came out of the Tamil Nadu Assembly in torn shirt on 17.2.2018 when the AIADMK government led by Chief Minister K. Palaniswami sought vote of confidence.
Similarly, Kamal Haasan, when questioned about his bold decision to contest the Lok Sabha elections, said: "After oiling one's body and slapping of thighs, one should not back out from the wrestling field saying he would come the next day."
If that happens then one would become a laughing stock, Kamal Haasan added.
On Sunday, actor Rajinikanth announced his decision not to contest in the Lok Sabha polls. He also said he would not support any party.
Campaigning for his party Makkal Needhi Maiam's candidate for the May 19 Assembly by-election in Aravakuruchi in Karur district on Sunday, Haasan has said: "The first terrorist of an independent India was a Hindu -- Nathuram Godse."
It was Godse who shot dead Mahatma Gandhi on 30.1.1948 in New Delhi.
"I am here to question that killing," Haasan said.
Reacting to this, BJP leader Soundararajan in a tweet said recalling Gandhi's assassination now and calling it Hindu terrorism was condemnable.
"Standing amidst minorities in TN by-election campaign, he is lighting a dangerous fire to gain votes by minority appeasement. Kamal didn't opine on recent Sri Lanka bomb blast, why?" Soundararajan tweeted.
"He (Kamal) threatened to leave India when his film ("Vishwaroopam") screening was prevented by religious groups! But now he calls himself true Indian! True political acting started now having lost the chances in screenplay," he said.
Speaking to reporters in Thoothukudi, Bhalaji said Haasan's tongue should be cut for saying that as terrorism does not have any religion.
Bhalaji said Haasan made the remark to gain the votes of minorities in Aravakuruchi Assembly constituency where a bye-election is to be held on May 19.
The Minister said Haasan spews venom and wondered why he was doing that. Haasan's party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) should be banned and the Election Commission should take action, Bhalaji added.
Campaigning for his party candidate on Sunday, Haasan has said: "The first terrorist of independent India was a Hindu -- Nathuram Godse." Godse shot dead Mahatma Gandhi on January 30, 1948 in New Delhi. "I am here to question that killing," Haasan said.
BJP leader Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay mentioned the petition which sought debarring of candidates and de-registration of parties abusing religion for political mileage during polls before a bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice A.J. Bhambhani.
The court allowed the plea to be listed for hearing.
Upadhyay, in the petition, alleged that Haasan's statement was intended to outrage religious feelings of Hindus.
"Haasan has violated the Model Code of Conduct in addition to section 123(3) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. He is deliberately promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony and brotherhood, which is an offence under section 153A of the IPC.
"It is a deliberate and malicious act, intended to outrage religious feelings of millions of Hindus, which is an offence under section 295A IPC," he said in his petition.
Haasan had made the remark at a rally for his MNM party candidate in Aravakurichi Assembly constituency which will go for a by-poll on May 19.
Terming the comment a corrupt practice, the Bharatiya Janata Party leader's petition said: "It is necessary to state that the statement was made deliberately in the presence of a Muslim majority crowd for electoral gain, which is clearly a corrupt practice.."
In his plea, Upadhyay said the poll body is yet to take action against Haasan, therefore, he has moved the court, seeking direction to the EC to order an investigation into the misuse of religion, race, caste, community and language by candidates and political office-bearers for electoral gain.
The comment by Thakur, an accused in the Malegaon blast case, provided fodder to the Opposition Congress to target the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
"Nathuram Godse was a 'deshbhakt', is a 'deshbhakt' and will remain a 'deshbhakt'. People calling him a terrorist should instead look within. Such people will be given a befitting reply in these elections," Pragya told reporters in Bhopal.
She was commenting on the recent remarks of actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) President Kamal Haasan who called Godse the first Hindu terrorist of Independent India. "The first terrorist post-Independence was Nathuram Godse, a Hindu. It started from there. He killed Mahatma Gandhi," Haasan had said.
Unhappy over Thakur's controversial comment, the BJP immediately condemned it.
"We completely disagree with the statement she has made with regard to Mahatma Gandhi and we strongly condemn it. The BJP will ask her why she made such a statement. It would be proper for her to tender a public apology for this objectionable statement," BJP spokesperson G.V.L. Narsimha Rao told reporters at the party headquarters in Delhi.
BJP media cell in-charge for Madhya Pradesh Lokendra Parashar said: "The BJP does not agree with her statement. The party will find out about the circumstances in which she made this statement. One who killed Mahatma Gandhi can't be a patriot."
Slamming the BJP for Thakur's comment, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala called it an "insult to the country" and said "India's soul is under attack from the successors of Nathuram Godse, the BJP ruling dispensation."
He said the "BJP leaders are describing the murderer of the Father of the Nation as a true nationalist. This is an insult to the country and an attack on Gandhi's ideology."
Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, who is pitted against Thakur in Bhopal, termed her comment as "sedition" and demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah.
It is not the first controversy that Thakur has been embroiled in. She had earlier said that Maharashtra ATS officer Hemant Karkare, who had interrogated her in the Malegaon case and was later killed during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, had died due to her "curse."
Thakur had also said that she was happy for her role in the demolition of the Babri Masjid. Her comments had earned her a 72-hour-long ban on campaigning ahead of polling for the Bhopal Lok Sabha seat on May 12.
The Makkal Needhi Maiam chief also said that he was not afraid of being arrested but warned any such action would escalate tensions.
The MNM founder said the remarks made during the Aravakurichi Assembly segment bypoll campaign meet on Sunday were not made for the first time, even as he asserted that "every religion has its own terrorist" and "this shows that all religions have their extremists."
The actor-politician, who had filed an anticipatory bail after an FIR was registered in Aravakurichi in Karur district for his remarks, said he had made similar comments in Chennai during the Lok Sabha election campaign but it was being taken note of now by those people "whose confidence is dipping".
"Let me tell you terrorists abound all religions...every religion has its own terrorists and we cannot claim that we are sanctimonious and we have not done that. History shows you that all religions have their extremists," he told reporters here, adding his focus in Sunday's campaign speech was on maintaining harmony.
Asked if he had filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Madras High Court fearing arrest, Haasan replied in the negative.
"I don't fear arrest but I have got campaigning to do. Let them arrest.. but if they arrest me tensions will escalate. This is not my request but an advice," he said.
With regard to police denying permission for him to undertake campaigning in Sulur Assembly constituency in Coimbatore, the MNM chief asked if there was problem then why can't the bypoll be postponed.
Campaigning for his party Makkal Needhi Maiam's (MNM) candidate in the bye-election for the Aravakuruchi Assembly constituency, the actor speaking about the killer of Mahatma Gandhi, said: "The first extremist of independent India was a Hindu -- Nathuram Godse. It all started from there."
Haasan made the comment in a locality were Muslims lived in large numbers.
His comment created a huge row nationwide and police complaints were filed in Aravakuruchi against Haasan for trying to create enimity between communities.
"The Prime minister seeks a harmonious India. His statements in Parliament confirms it. Should not the state and it's law follow it in letter and spirit? 49 of my peers have been accused, of sedition, contradicting the PM's aspirations," Kamal Haasan tweeted.
He was referring to an FIR registered against 49 people, including filmmaker Mani Ratnam, actress Revathi and historian Ramachandra Guha, at a Bihar police station for writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on lynching incidents in the country.
Earlier DMK President M.K. Stalin also wondered, "How can it become a sedition when asked to uphold secularism and tolerance?"
The DMK chief said branding people like Guha, Revathi and Mani Ratnam as traitors was not acceptable. Condemning the FIR, Stalin said it created doubt and fear in the people's mind whether one was living in a democratic country.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik presented the doctorate degree (honoris causa) to Haasan at a special function here.
"Haasan is a legend who has served the nation throughout his life through art, cinema and humanitarian works. He has made many new experiments in cinema. His silent movie 'Pushpak' has been hailed as an all time great in the world of cinema," said the Chief Minister.
"I am informed that he has turned his fan club into an organisation for humanitarian activities. This speaks volumes about his commitment for human values. I wish him success in all his endeavours," said Patnaik.
Accepting the honour, Haasan called upon the students to take full advantage of the skill development opportunities and contribute significantly for the growth of the nation.
"Odisha is a model state and we are trying to seek knowledge from here so that we would make Tamil Nadu like Odisha. We are taking the experience from every state, which are the forerunners in some ideas or the other," Haasan said.
Kajal was interacting with the media when she visited internationally acclaimed artists Subramanian Gopalsamy and Gnanadickam Ponnusamy's art exhibition named "Divine Intervention" in Mumbai.
According to media reports, Kajal plays an 85-year-old woman in director Shankar's "Indian 2". "It's a very exciting role but I can't tell you too much about it. They (makers of the film) will kill me!" she laughed, adding: "I will resume shooting in February. It's going to be very different. I have never done something like this role. This is not a stereotypical answer but a genuine one," she said.
Apart from 'Indian 2', talking about her upcoming projects, Kajal said: "I am looking for different content. I am working on a very exciting and different sort of films. I definitely want to up the game as does everyone else in the new decade, and in the forthcoming year."
She added: "I am working in different sorts of mediums. I am doing an OTT show. I am doing a film with young people and I am doing a film with senior, established and experienced people, so it's an array of different roles for me. It's extremely gruelling but I am excited."
Kajal Aggarwal has worked primarily in several Tamil and Telugu films. She has also appeared in Hindi films like "Singham", "Special 26" and "Do Lafzon Ki Kahani".
In Bollywood, her next release is Sanjay Gupta's action crime film "Mumbai Saga" along with John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar, Gulshan Grover, Rohit Roy, Sharman Joshi, Pankaj Tripathi, Samir Soni and Amole Gupte.

In a statement, Shankar said whatever help is rendered to the families who lost their loved ones (Krishna, Madhu and Chandran) cannot compensate the loss of their lives.
"Nevertheless, a sum of Rs 1 crore will be given to the affected families by me which may be of small help to them," he said.
Shankar said more than relief of escaping himself by a whisker, the pain of losing three people is tormenting him.
He said he is trying to recover from the shock of the accident and he is not able to digest the accident despite several safety measures taken.
Three technicians -- Madhu, Chandran and Krishna -- were killed and 12 others injured after the crane fell on them while constructing the sets at the EVP Film City near here on February 19 night. Movie hero Kamal Haasan, female lead Kajal Aggarwal, as well as Shankar himself, had a providential escape that night.

"I think that the price of what you are willing to sacrifice is a personal choice that comes with every profession," Shruti said.
The actress, who is the daughter of veteran stars Kamal Haasan and Sarika, shares it is mostly the personal life one sacrifices.
"Mostly it is time and relationships that you sacrifice. Whether you work in a bank or you work in the movies," she added.
Shruti has completed 11 years as an actor. She says she is always looking to improve herself. The actress recently starred in the digitally-released film, "Yaara", which also featured Vidyut Jammwal, Kenny Basumatry, Vijay Varma and Amit Sadh.

Kamal as an artist is known to push the envelope but more often than not the audience wasn’t ready for new concepts that are alien to the masses. ‘Anbe Sivam’ where he introduced the concept of atheism and promoted ‘humanism’ tanked at the box office but finds its relevance with the viewers now. His ambitious project ‘Hey Ram’ that was a commentary on religious extremism gained critical appraise but couldn’t make profits even though the film also has Shah Rukh Khan in one of the pivotal roles.
Not forgetting one of his finest performances in ‘Aalavandhan’ where he has a dual role, one of it is a schizophrenic who suffered from child abuse and the other a psychopath serial killer. Tagged as ‘one of the most psychotic, gruesome, psychology thriller ever made in India at that time’, the film is still is an example for master creative execution but was way too ahead for its audience. All these films are now cherished and appreciated, years after their release.

Haasan never gave up on the audience even after his efforts to serve new cinema to the viewers proved futile. He started acting when he was four and he turns 66 today. As an audience, we can only truly celebrate an artiste like him when we acknowledge the breath of fresh air he brings into the ‘tried and tested’ Indian film industry while he is at it.

Addressing media persons at Coimbatore, Kamal, who is contesting from the Coimbatore South seat in the April 6 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, said that he would complete all his movie assignments and contracts and is contemplating to walking off the silver screen if politics demands it.
“I am ready to quit the film world and show business for politics if it demands so. However late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and popular actor MGR had continued to act in movies even after becoming an MLA to communicate his ideas to the people of Tamil Nadu and to serve the people,” he noted.
Kamal also told media persons that he had received several threats during the election campaign but did not further elaborate.
He said that several political leaders had called upon him to quit politics and continue with cinema.
“Let us see who will quit politics… and as I said earlier, I will continue with politics.”
Kamal also said that his party has provided proper details to Election Commission officials on the details of the money spent during the campaign.
The Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) president made the announcement here on Friday, releasing the second list of his party's candidates.
Remembering his late father Sreenivasan, Haasan expressed confidence that the people of his constituency would enable him to voice his views in the assembly by voting for him.
"My father's dream was I should become an IAS officer and then enter politics. Though I could not realise his dream (of becoming an IAS officer), my party comprises many (former) IAS officers. That is a proud moment for us," he told reporters
Haasan was not injured in the incident though his vehicle's windscreen was damaged.
MNM leader and retired IPS officer A G Mourya tweeted that his party chief's car windscreen was damaged and the man who "attempted to attack" Haasan was handed over to the police.
Mourya said the party would not be scared by such elements.
His tweet was retweeted by the official Twitter handle of Makkal Needhi Maiam.
Local television channels aired visuals of a young man, said to be the assailant, being taken away by police personnel for allegedly attacking Haasan's car.
Police officials could not be reached immediately for a comment.
The youth, reportedly drunk, was allegedly assaulted by some MNM cadres and members of the public. He was later taken to a hospital by the police.
