For the first time, authorities have issued radio frequency identification (RFID) tag to each pilgrim so that his/her movement is monitored for safety and security purposes.

An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Monday. Police said that the encounter has started at Nowpora-Kherpora, Trubji area of Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job. According to sources, the gunfight started after a joint team of security forces got an input about the presence of terrorists in that area.

It has come to fore that Fareed Ahmad received arms and ammunition from one suspect during the month of March and he was tasked to attack police personnel in Doda.

Indian army rescued a group of Bakarwals consisting of four children and three adults who were stranded due to a snow storm for the past 2 days near Chhut Pass in Jammu & Kashmir. Inspector General of Police, Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar said one of the slain militants was identified as Jan Mohammad Lone, who was allegedly involved in the killing of a bank manager in Kulgam district recently.

In the initial exchange of fire, five police personnel received minor injuries and were immediately evacuated to hospital for the treatment of their injuries.

They have been identified as Junaid Ahmad Sheergojri of Gadoora, Pulwama, Fazil Nazir Bhat of Drabgam, Pulwama and Irfan Ahmad Malik of Arabal Nikas, Pulwama.

The protesting Kashmiri Pandit employees and others posted in the Valley carried placards with pictures of their colleague Rajni Bala, school teacher who was killed by terrorists at a school in Kulgam district on Tuesday.

On May 31, militants killed Rajni Bala, a non-local teacher in the same district.

The militant associate was identified as Mohammad Saleem Khan, a resident of Shrakwara Kreeri, he added.

TV artist Amreen Bhat was killed by terrorists on Wednesday.
