The Aditya-L1 spacecraft -- the first space-based Indian observatory to study the Sun -- is at India’s rocket port in Sriharikota and is getting ready for the launch.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission, led by scientists at ISRO, made history on Wednesday after India became the first nation in the world to land near the South Pole of the moon. India also became the fourth nation to make a soft landing on the moon after the erstwhile USSR, the US, and China.

The entire set of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) officials at the Mission Operations Complex at ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Bengaluru led by ISRO Chairman S. Somanath who were glued to their monitors got up and clapped when the moon lander safely and softly landed on the lunar soil in a text-book style.

With this historic feat, India became the first nation to make a successful landing on the moon's South Poll. 

As per media reports, some private sector companies have worked with ISRO for the Chandrayaan-3 mission.

With this, India became the fourth nation in the world to achieve the feat. However, India is the first country to land on the lunar South Pole.

The lander landed near the South Pole of the moon after travelling about 3.84 lakh km for over 40 days.

The Chandrayaan-3 was put into orbit on July 14 in a copybook style by India's heavy lift rocket LVM3.

“Welcome, buddy!” said the Chandrayaan-2 Orbiter to the lander that was carried by the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft this year.

During the launch of Chandrayaan-3 on July 14, the spacecraft’s propulsion module was loaded with 1696.4 kg of fuel. After five earth-bound manoeuvres and five lunar-bound manoeuvres, the propulsion module got separated from the lander module on August 17.

The Lander Module comprising the lander Vikram and rover Pragyan is now ready to be lowered to an orbit that takes it closer to the moon's surface. The soft landing on the lunar south pole is scheduled at 5.47 pm next Wednesday.

Union Public Service Commission, UPSC has invited applications for 30 Specialist Grade III & other posts. The last date to file the application form is August 31. Applicants can apply online through the official site of UPSC at upsc.gov.in.

Moving India’s Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft closer to the moon on Wednesday, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said the lander module is slated for separation from the propulsion module on Thursday.

The satellite, realised at U R Rao Satellite Centre here, has arrived at the ISRO's spaceport in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh, the Bengaluru-headquartered national space agency said in an update on the mission.

As part of India’s proposed human space mission, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said that it had successfully conducted a series of Drogue Parachute Deployment Tests.
