Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin slammed five fours to maintain India's comfortable hold on day one. At stumps, Jadeja was batting on 45 and Ashwin on 10.
Charith Asalanka was the lone ranger for Sri Lanka while Dushmantha Chameera took a six and two fours off Iyer to showcase his batting skills. Asalanka reached his fifty off 43 balls with a flick through mid-wicket and that was the lone bright spot for Sri Lanka in the series opener.
India made six changes to their side and apart from the five debutants also brought in pacer Navdeep Saini. The team management rested the second ODI's player of the match, Deepak Chahar.
India beat Sri Lanka by 3 wickets in the 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka, to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Chasing 276, the visitors were 7 down for 193, and it looked as if the match was beyond their reach. Then came Deepak Chahar who played a blinder to take his team home. He was adjudged the Player of the Match for his all round performance.
