In the first phase, at least 107 rebels who put their arms before the district police have been enrolled into the IGNOU’s Bachelor's Preparatory Programme (BPP) meant for educating adults deprived of 10+2 qualification.
“After qualifying the BPP, they can directly get enrolled in the degree programme offered by the varsity for further studies,” informed a senior official.The district police have borne all the expenses incurred under the course, reports said.
"After I surrendered, the SP got me enrolled into a programme offered by IGNOU. I will study hard and hope to return to the mainstream soon," said Sukadeb, a surrendered Maoist who is preparing for the exams.
"The surrendered Moists and tribals from interior pockets were encouraged to enroll for the course and qualify the exam. In future too, we shall continue offering similar trainings to Maoists who wish to return to the mainstream,” Malkangiri SP Jagmohan Meena said.
Through OPENMAT entrance test, admission to the varsity's management programmes is done. OPENMAT is held twice a year.
Note: A student has to fill up an application form to apply for the test.
In a release, N P Singh, the Registrar of Student Evaluation Division of IGNOU said the deadline has been extended to August 21 and the students need to send the form by Registered/Speed Post so as to reach the IGNOU HQ on or before the last date.

Meanwhile, no other document is required to be submitted along with the form.
The programmes IGNOU is offering for this session are: MBA, PG Diploma in Human Resource Management, PG Diploma in Financial Management, PG Diploma in Operations Management, PG Diploma in Marketing Management and PG Diploma in Financial Markets Practice.
The OPENMAT will be held on September 24.

The result is available on www.ignou.ac.in and can be accessed through the Student's Zone tab on the home page.
Students can view their result only using their unique 9-digit Enrolment number, either by logging into their individual student's profile or through the results link on the website.

Meanwhile, the Board has cancelled the results of the students who were booked for adopting unfair means during conduct of the examination.

IGNOU had conducted Term End Examinations from June 1, 2017 to June 21, 2017.
Candidates can download the Hall Tickets from August 14, 2017 onwards.
Meanwhile, Admission Counselling and Open House for prospective students of MBA, B.Ed. and B.Sc. (N) will be on August 8, 2017 from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm at Student Service Centre, IGNOU headquarters, New Delhi.

Besides, IGNOU has recently extended the last date for admission to the July 2017 session to masters and bachelor’s degree, including diploma, PG diploma programmes and semester-based programmes, to August 18.
Earlier, the last date for filing admission forms for was July 31.

He said the Central government has created communication networks including broadband facilities to 10 lakh villages across India where learners in remote areas can also access to digital learning.
Kumar reviewed educational programmes to be undertaken in the northeastern states through the distance learning varsity's newly-set-up North East Council of IGNOU Regional Centres (NECIRC).
"The advantage is that, this broadband connectivity will be a passage for us, and all digital materials will run on this broadband connectivity where our learners located in remote areas will also get access," he told journalists here.
The Vice Chancellor said IGNOU had signed an MoU with the National e-governance division of the Ninistry of Information Technology to provide the entire e-governance materials prepared under the Digital India initiative and nation-wide internet network free of cost.

Asked about the challenges of poor internet connectivity in implementing digital learning in the Northeast due to poor internet connectivity, Kumar said: "We have revived our Gyan Darshan and additional facility of Swayam Prabha initiative of the HRD ministry to access the remotest part of the region."
Out of the total 11,28,754 certificates issued, 1,413 graduation certificates have been issued by the university under vertical mobility scheme, said Manjulika Srivastava, Director of IGNOU's Defence Unit.
The IGNOU has the mandate to train defence personnel under project 'Gyandeep' for soldiers of the Indian Army and 'Akashdeep' for airmen of the IAF which would help them land in a promising job post retirement.

"IGNOU recognises the achievements of defence personnel in their service, equate such work to IGNOU standards, transfers the credit and suggests them to take up courses based on that for a lateral entry," Srivastava said.
The scheme became operational in 2009 when the IGNOU signed MoUs with the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy for 'Gyandeep', 'Akashdeep' and 'Sagardeep' respectively.
However, Sagardeep was not so successful as there were not many applicants, said a varsity official.
Students can apply for programmes in various disciplines of science, social science, humanities and management.

"Performing and visual arts, inter and trans-disciplinary studies, translation, engineering and technology, extension and development studies, foreign languages, journalism and new media studies and vocational education and training are some of the other disciplines available for interested students," it said.
The second edition of 'Gyanvritti', which comes under Dainik Jagran's 'Hindi Hai Hum' initiative, is launched to promote the usage of Hindi language in fundamental research and original writing, read a statement from the organisation.
"Under this program, we envisage to promote academically sound research on topics such as Social Science, Economics, Diplomacy, History and Political Science.
"Gyanvritti is given to a researcher for at least six months and for a maximum period of nine months on a selected subject," it said, adding that the minimum age of applying for the fellowship, as of 1st January 2019, should not be less than 25.
According to the newspaper daily, to avail benefits of the fellowship program applicants have to send a synopsis in thousand words on the concerned subjects, based on which the jury will select the subject matter and researcher.
The jury for the fellowship include professor S N Chaudhary from Barkatullah University, Dr Darvesh Gopal, professor of Political Science, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and editorial team of the Dainik Jagran.
The last date for application has been extended to July 31.
The extended deadline for the submission of forms is now August 14, 2019. The programmes for which the date has been extended are- Master and Bachelor Degree Programmes, PG Diploma and Diploma Programmes, Certificate Programmes, and Appreciation/Awareness Level Programmes.

"With the approval of the Competent Authority, it is to inform you that the last date of submission of Online and Offline Admission Forms for all programmes for July, 2019 session has been further extended up to 14th August, 2019," read the notice of IGNOU.
Indira Gandhi National Open University is a distance learning national university which ensures quality higher education opportunities with an aim to encourage, coordinate and set standards for distance and open education in India.
Regional officer of IGNOU, Manoj Kumar Dash said the university will train 6,032 ASHA workers in the State with two certificate courses. "They will be offered the Certificate in Food Nutrition and Certificate in Guidance courses. The ASHA workers will have to opt for one course," said Dash.
Also, the IGNOU will provide different courses to inmates of 14 jails of the State this year. "The varsity will impart different courses to inmates of 10 new jails. A coordination committee has been formed in this regard. Last year we provided education to inmates of four jails," added Dash.
In another decision, the varsity said transgenders will have to pay course fee from this year to get admission at IGNOU. Earlier, they were exempted from any fee to get education at the university.
IGNOW has also announced the date for the entrance exam for the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme - November 9, 2019.
Meanwhile, applications can be submitted till October 10, 2019. Candidates can visit the website, https://ignounursing.samarth.edu.in/, and complete the online application process.
Candidates will have to pay an examination fee of Rs 1000 via credit Card, debit Card or through net banking.
NOTE: There is no age bar for admissions to the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme.

Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with 2-year minimum experience in the profession is required for 'In-service Nurses- registered nurses and registered midwives (RNRM) having 10+2 with three years. (For male nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM programme should have a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 months, duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery).
