The crocodile was caught by people of MV-78 village with the help of a net, Kalimela forest Range Officer Ramachandra Madkami said.
The crocodile had been spotted in the village pond a few months ago, triggering panic among local residents who managed to catch it today.
After rescuing the crocodile, the villagers informed the forest officials and handed over the reptile to them. The crocodile was later released into the Balimela reservoir in Chitrakonda area around 100 km away, Madkami said.
The reptile was suspected to have sneaked in from the nearby Sitaguda dam, forest officials said while the villagers said the reptile may have been swept into the pond by flood waters two years ago.

Both BJD and BJP are now vying with each other to take credit for the permission accorded to the institute by the Supreme Court’s Oversight Mandate Committee for admissions to this academic session.
It seems that the war of words between the two parties has now intensified after Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made an unscheduled visit to take stock of the infrastructure and ongoing construction work at Baripada Medical College yesterday.

The SC panel had earlier accorded conditional permission for intake of 100 MBBS students from this academic session after Odisha Government had sought intervention against the delay done by Medical Council of India (MCI).
Earlier, uncertainty loomed large over the admissions owing to non-issuance of Letter of Permission (LoP).
“If Odisha Government is happy playing politics on the issue, it is welcome. But they should fulfil all criteria and keep documents ready as a medical college cannot open through ‘short cuts’,” said Pradhan.
Odisha had earlier sought LoP for two medical colleges—Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College, Baripada and Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, Koraput in June 2016.
The MCI team had subsequently taken stock of infrastructure, construction works and other facilities at both the upcoming medical colleges in December last year. Though the MCI team visited Koraput, the scheduled visit for inspection of infrastructure at Baripada Medical was not taken up.
Odisha Health Minister Pratap Jena, on the other hand, alleged that Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is ‘jealous’ as the state government got the permission after concerted efforts from the Supreme Court’s panel.
“Union Minister’s move to draw comparison between Baripada Medical College and Private College is not justified,” said Jena.
Patnaik during his suprise visit to Baripada took stock of the progress of the construction work and held discussion with senior officials of the Medical College.

“Baripada Medical College is a dream come true for the people of Mayurbhanj. I am satisfied with how the construction work is going on and will review the progress every two weeks,” said Patnaik.
Patnaik further said that the Medical College will become functional this educational year.
Earlier, uncertainty had loomed large over the admissions owing to the tug of war between Odisha Government and Medical Council of India (MCI) over non-issuance of Letter of Permission (LoP).
The Supreme Court’s Mandate Oversight Committee on May 14 gave its green signal for intake of students at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College in Baripada after Odisha Government had sought the former’s intervention.
The conditional approval was subsequently granted for admission of 100 MBBS undergraduate seats for the 2017-18 academic session
The process for admission of 100 MBBS undergraduate seats for the 2017-18 academic sessions can now be expedited, said Health Minister Pratap Jena.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also welcomed the decision to grant permission for admissions in Baripada Medical College.
"Welcome the grant of Permission by Supreme Court's Oversight Committee to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital, Baripada ," Patnaik said through a tweet.
"The college though ready was not being inspected by MCI. Happy that now we can bring advanced health care to the people of Mayurbhanj", he further mentioned.
Earlier, uncertainty had loomed large over the admissions owing to the tug of war between Odisha Government and Medical Council of India (MCI) over non-issuance of Letter of Permission (LoP).

In a letter to Secretary, Supreme Court Mandate Oversight committee, Shesh Kumar, Odisha Health Secretary P.K. Meherda had sought intervention of the panel for appropriate measures against the injustice done by MCI.
Odisha had earlier sought LoP for two medical colleges—Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College, Baripada and Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, Koraput in June 2016.
MCI team had subsequently taken stock of infrastructure, construction works and other facilities at both the upcoming medical colleges in December last year. Though MCI team visited Koraput, the scheduled visit for inspection of infrastructure at Baripada Medical was not taken up.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during his meeting with Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, had urged for letter of permission (LOP) for the two medical colleges at Baripada and Koraput for starting the first batch of admission from 2017-18 session.
Another reminder in this regard was also sent by the State Government on April 27 for MCI inspection and LoP.
Senior officials had also taken up the matter with Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda at a high level meeting held at New Delhi on May 11 in presence of Union Minister Dharemendra Pradhan.
Meanwhile, Health minister Pratap Jena expressed pleasure over the permission of apex court panel. "We thank the Supreme Court oversight committee for giving permission to start admission in the 2017-18 academic session", Jena said.
As per official sources, the MCI team is likely to visit Baripada medical college by May end.
The development came after Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda discussed the issue with Odisha Health Secretary and other officials in presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday.
Pradhan, however, on Thursday blamed Odisha Government for inordinate delay in the process to start academics at Baripada Medical College.

It is easy enough to ridicule 'Satyameva Jayate'. God knows, it renders itself vulnerable to severe slamming. It wears its jingoistic patriotism on the sleeve and every other visible part of its canvas, growing more and more shrill with every frame and dialogue.
Yup, these kinds of tactless films get easily trolled, or stoned as we earlier used to refer to the savage lynching of crude cinema.
But hang on. "Satyameva Jayate"(SJ) is not designed for those who dug their grey cells into Newton and came out feeling like alumni on a space odyssey. This is a film for the masses, the commoners who everyday have to face discrimination and corruption on the streets where a lot of people don't just work but also live sleep and defecate.
Road rage for them is not about a dent in their gleaming cars. It's about survival.
For all its sins of loutish characterization and aural extravagance the film throws a very opportune question at us: why do we tolerate corruption in our system on such a hideously aggravated scale? Is corruption part of our DNA? The corruption in the police force, which this film, takes on headlong, is specially worrisome. If a society doesn't have law enforcers who do their jobs honestly, the law-breaks are bound to be on a rampage.
Early on in this lengthy anti-corruption diatribe swathed in a flag-fluttering fury, a street hawker's wife comes under a rich man's wheel. He moans, wails and pleads for justice while the cop on duty cackles and taunts, "You are trash and trash needs to be treated like this.
Too crass for your tastes? Well, let me tell you I've seen a cop react exactly this way to a destitute man's lamentation on the street. Truth can often be much cruder than fiction. The film takes that path without apology, as a disgruntled raging vigilante Veer(John Abraham, clenched and implosive) takes on himself the responsibility of eliminating all corrupt cops from the Maharashtra police.
I am not sure if Bihar, UP and other states are on Veer's mopping map in planned sequels. But for now he goes about the business of finishing off decadent cops with the zeal and guile of a clumsy assassin who has taken a crash-course in mass killing.
The ritualistic slayings are gruesome and in many ways, apt. That's the disturbing part of a film whose steep volume of violence ought to offend. But doesn't. The killings pile on and so does the outrageous level of grisly blood-flow. But you really can't blame the film for its excessive brutality when it is all around us. But yes, the bad acting by many of the actors, some reputed names, could have been avoided.
My favourite high-drama moment in the film is when a young Muslim boy is being tortured by a sadistic cop to confess to a crime he hasn't committed. The sequence is designed as a pseudo-religious symphony rendered shrill with religious zeal. Later there is a sequence in a Moharrum procession where John, fashionably bloodied, finishes off a lecherous cop.
The sequences of cop-killing are designed in bright voluptuous crimson colours. You can't miss the film's zeal or the persuasive powers of the two principal performances. John Abraham and Manoj Bajpai as the two adversaries play off against each other effectively. They know this is the time to drop all subtleties and they get to that task with full-on enthusiasm.
"Apple will earn its 2 trillion dollar market cap through its services business, an Augmented Reality headset, and an Apple Car, according to famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who now works for TF International Securities," MacRumors reported late on Tuesday.
The analyst, who was earlier with Taiwan-based KGI Securities, has reportedly sent a new note for investors, outlining products that he expects to be released by Apple in future.
"Apple will launch an Apple Car some time between 2023 and 2025, with the car set to be positioned as 'the next star product'. Kuo foresees the Apple Car revolutionising the automobile market much as the iPhone did back in 2007," the report added.
However, Kuo did not provide details of the possible car or when exactly it might be unveiled.
The Cupertino-based company has largely remained silent on its plans about the Apple Car.
Notably, it has more self-driving car permits in the US state of California than any other technology company.
Many industry watchers have called the Apple Car the worst-kept secret of the Silicon Valley.
The research team, led by U. Benjamin Kaupp, from the US-based Marine Biological Laboratory, identified the molecule which allows sodium ions to flow into the sperm cell and, in exchange, transports protons out of the cell.
Previous studies had discovered that eggs from marine invertebrates release a chemical factor that attracts sperm, a process which is called chemotaxis.
The sperm swims up a chemical gradient to reach the egg, assisted by a pulsatile rise in calcium ion (Ca2+) concentration in the sperm tail that controls its beating.
However, a prerequisite for these Ca2+ ions from the sperm's environment to enter the tail is that the sperm cell's pH becomes more alkaline.
The molecule that brings about this change in pH has remained elusive.
In the new study, published in the journal Nature Communications, Kaupp found that the the so-called sodium and proton exchangers is a chimaera that shares structural features with ion channels called pacemaker channels, which control our heartbeat and electrical activity in the brain.
This sodium and proton exchange in the sperm cell, like in the pacemaker channels, is activated by a stretch of positively charged amino acids called the voltage sensor. When the sperm captures chemoattractant molecules, the voltage becomes more negative, because potassium channels open and potassium ions leave the cell.
The voltage-sensor registers this voltage change and the exchanger begins exporting protons from the cell. The cell's interior becomes more alkaline. When this mechanism is disabled, the Ca2+ pulses in the sperm tail are suppressed, and sperms are lost on their voyage to the egg, the researchers said.
The researchers found that the odds of having a child on the autistic spectrum for those who underwent fertility treatments were 1.5 times higher than those who opted out of it, in the case of progesterone hormone therapy.
Progesterone is an embryonic steroid hormone needed for brain development. There is a hypothesis that it activates a genetic mechanism for the development of autism, Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday.
For the study, the researchers, from the University of Haifa in Israel, included 108,548 boys -- as boys have a higher risk of developing autism than girls.
The researchers also found that progesterone delivery before pregnancy may affect critical stages in fetal brain development.
In recent years, efforts have been made to identify the environmental factors that influence the development of autism. One of the directions that has not been thoroughly tested is the effect of fertility treatments, the report said.
Today there is a scientific and medical controversy. Some studies have found that there is no connection between fertility treatments and autism, especially IVF (In vitro fertilization) treatments. Other studies have linked to individual hormones and autism, the report added.
Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, is a condition related to brain development that impacts how a person perceives and socializes with others, causing problems in social interaction and communication.

Third seed Sindhu, who was a three-time World Championships medallist before this edition, fell 19-21, 10-21 against the Spanish seventh seed, who became the first women's singles player to win three world titles. It was Carolina's third title in the last four editions.
Sindhu, who had lost to Nozomi Okuhara in last edition's final, had a nice opportunity to defeat Carolina who had conquered the Hyderabadi in the 2016 Rio Games final.
Coming into the final here, even though they have won six matches each against each other, Sindhu has won three out of four games she faced Carolina since the Rio loss.
And at Nanjing, Sindhu again gave ample signs of adjusting to the quick and fast shuttle play from Carolina, only later to face a harsh reality of once again being tamed by the Spaniard.
In the first game, Sindhu was involved in long rallies from the beginning and employed few smart short smashes to lead 5-3 which later became 8-5 after Carolina hit one to the net and a couple went wide and long.
Trailing 8-11, Carolina looked desperate to hit back at Sindhu and this resulted in the Spaniard being over-reactive. She went for power, instead of precision and a couple of shots went long over the line. Sindhu was leading 14-9 when Carolina felt the urgency to arrest the slide.
The 25-year-old upped the ante and equalised at the 15-point mark. They exchanged a point each till the 18-point mark as Carolina launched a couple of body smashes to which Sindhu replied with sharp cross-court game. However Carolina managed to take the first game 21-19.
In the second game, Carolina didn't relent and managed to sustain the momentum gained from the first game. Quick in her movement, Carolina put up a super dominant game to race away to an 11-2 lead at the mid-game interval.
In the past couple of rounds, Sindhu had managed to turn it around after the mid-game break. But against Carolina, she couldn't repeat the act as a 17-4 lead for the European powerhouse meant her win was only a formality.
Sindhu then was already waging a lost battle even though she pocketed 10 points in total in the second game before surrendering the contest.
The loss extended India's drought of a world title in the game.
Meanwhile, the men's singles title went to Japanese sixth seed Kento Momota, who defeated home favourite and third seed Shi Yuqi 21-11, 21-13 in 49 minutes.
In the mixed doubles final, Chinese top seeds Zheng and Huang Yaqiong fought off compatriot second seeds Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongping with a 21-17, 21-19 victory in 49 minutes.
The all-Japanese women's doubles final witnessed a huge upset, with the 11th seeds Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara overcoming second seeds Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota with a 19-21, 21-19, 22-20 in a gruelling clash which lasted an hour and 35 minutes.
PCOS is a condition caused by high testosterone which results in delayed onset of puberty, irregular menstrual cycles, and excess bodily hair.
Previous studies had shown that autistic children have elevated levels of "sex steroid" hormones including testosterone which "masculinise" the baby's body and brain.
Debating on the increase level of hormones, the team found that one possible source may be the mother.
If the mother had higher levels of testosterone than usual, as is the case in women with PCOS, then some of the hormone might cross the placenta during pregnancy, exposing her unborn baby to more of this hormone, and changing the baby's brain development, the findings showed.
"This is an important piece of new evidence for the theory that autism is not only caused by genes but also by prenatal sex steroid hormones such as testosterone," said Adriana Cherskov from the University of Cambridge in Britain.
"This new research is helping us understand the effects of testosterone on the developing foetal brain, and on the child's later behaviour and mind," added Simon Baron-Cohen from the varsity.
However, these hormonal effects are not necessarily independent of genetic factors, as a mother or her baby may have higher levels of the hormone for genetic reasons, and testosterone can affect how genes function, the researchers noted.
For the study, published in the journal Translational Psychiatry, the team analysed data from 8,588 women with PCOS and their first-born children, compared to a group of 41,127 women without PCOS.
The results showed that women with PCOS had a 2.3 per cent increased chance of having an autistic child.
The expansion of the plant on a 35-acre land adjacent to the current facility will double Samsung's production capacity of both mobile phones and consumer electronics, further consolidating the firm's leadership in these segments.
"Samsung was earlier finding it difficult to get approval for the expansion. With Yogi Adityanath becoming Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, the investment proposal was fast-tracked and approved by the state government under its 'Mega Policy'," Prasad told reporters here.
A groundbreaking ceremony and traditional puja was held at the new site in the presence of the IT Minister, State Minister for Infrastructure and Industrial Development Satish Mahana, NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant, and other senior officials.
J.K. Shin, Samsung Electronics CEO, and H.C. Hong, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, were present at the event.
"The new investment of Rs 4,915 crore is a testament to our continuing commitment to 'Make in India' and to Uttar Pradesh which has been our partner right from the day Samsung's journey began in the country," Hong said.
"On the back of the 'Digital India' movement led by millions of young Indians, we are witnessing a rise in adoption of electronic devices, smart appliances and mobile phones. A bigger manufacturing plant will help us cater to the growing demand for Samsung products across the country," he added.
Samsung's Noida plant was one of the first electronics manufacturing facilities set up in the country in the early 1990s.
The plant started with the manufacture of televisions in 1997. The current mobile phone manufacturing unit was added in 2005.
"We wish to make India a global production hub with support from the government," Hong noted.
According to Prasad, when the BJP came to power, the earlier government had invested Rs 11,000 crore towards electronics industry.
"Now, the investment stands at Rs 1.53 lakh crore with 40 mobile manufacturers and 33 mobile component manufacturers investing in the country in the last three years," Prasad told reporters.
Samsung has two manufacturing plants -- in Noida and in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu -- five R&D centres, and one design centre in Noida, employing over 70,000 people and expanding its network to over 1.5 lakh retail outlets.
Hong said that every product, including the recently launched Galaxy S8 and S8+ premium smartphones, being sold in the country are 'Made in India'.
According to Prasad, the South Korean giant will manufacture 12 crore mobile phones this year.
Samsung currently has 10 per cent of its overall production in India and aims to take it to 50 per cent over the next three years.
The mega Samsung investment came after its arch rival Apple recently announced the commencement of initial production of its popular iPhone SE model at its Bengaluru facility.
Apple has begun assembling iPhone SE models with Wistron Corporation, its Taiwanese manufacturing partner.
According to a report in the BBC on Sunday, IS' news outlet Amaq, on the messaging app Telegram, said "a security unit of Islamic State fighters carried out the London attacks yesterday".
An IS group propaganda outlet exhorted would-be jihadists to carry out vehicle and knife attacks on civilians just hours before three terrorists went on a rampage in central London, Xinhua reported.
According to media reports, the message sent out on an encrypted messaging app, urging attackers to "gain benefit from Ramadan" and "kill the civilians of the Crusaders. Run over them by vehicles".
British police said 12 people have been arrested so far after the attack, which left seven people dead and 48 injured. Among the wounded, 21 people are in critical condition.
According to the officials, the incursion occurred in the waters off Uotsuri Island, public broadcaster NHK reported.
The ships stayed in the waters for over an hour before leaving.
The ships had been navigating in the contiguous zone just outside the territorial waters since April 30.
The officials have warned the ships to stay away from Japanese waters. This is the 12th incursion by Chinese patrol ships this year. The previous one was on April 24.
Japan's Foreign Ministry lodged a protest with the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo over the latest incursion.
The ministry made a similar protest to the Chinese government through the Japanese Embassy in Beijing.
The airline said it intends to run a full schedule at Gatwick today and to operate a full long-haul schedule and a "high proportion" of its short-haul programme at Heathrow.
BA passengers have been told to check the status of their flights before travelling to the airports where scenes of chaos unfolded over the weekend.
The airline claimed it was making "good progress" in recovering from the worldwide IT glitch.
"We operated a full schedule at Gatwick on Sunday. At Heathrow, we operated virtually all our scheduled long-haul flights, though the knock-on effects of Saturday's disruption resulted in a reduced short-haul programme," Sky news quoted a BA spokeswoman said:
"We apologise again to customers for the frustration and inconvenience they are experiencing and thank them for their continued patience."
Thousands of passengers had their travel plans disrupted as a result of the problem, with one workers union blaming the outsourcing of IT jobs to India for the chaos, a claim denied by the airline.
The company said there was no evidence the failure was the result of a cyber attack.
Experts predict the knock-on effect could continue for several days and BA is facing huge compensation costs, with reports suggesting the bill could top 100 million pound.
Passengers faced hours-long lines to check in, reclaim lost luggage or rebook flights at Terminal 5, BA's hub at Heathrow.
Alex Cruz, the airline's chairman and CEO, issued a video message on Twitter to reassure passengers about their lost luggage and apologise.
Alex Cruz, BA chairman and CEO, apologised to customers in a video message on Twitter and said, "I know this has been a horrible time for customers. Some of you have missed holidays, some of you have been stranded on aircraft, some of you have been separated from your bags. Many of you have been stuck in long queues whilst you waited for information.
"On behalf of everyone at BA I want to apologise for the fact that you had to go through these very trying experiences."
BA operates hundreds of flights from Heathrow and Gatwick on a typical day and both are major hubs for worldwide travel.
