In its latest weather bulletin, the IMD predicted that light to moderate rainfall in isolated to some places very likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal & Sikkim and Northeast India on January 17 and January 18, 2024.
The people living in panchayats are going to have weather-related information as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has developed a mobile app titled ‘Panchayat Mausam Seva’.
As per the IMD, there will be no change in the minimum temperature (Night temperature) at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next 4-5 days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday informed that light rainfall or snowfall at isolated places is very likely over Jammu Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on January 12 and 13 and over Himachal Pradesh today.
Dense fog enveloped places like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Rourkela, Angul, and Phulbani while the minimum visibility in Bhubaneswar was recorded at 100 metres. Due to foggy conditions, vehicular movement in most parts of the state was disrupted.
As a result, several districts are likely to experience cold conditions for some more days.
IMD informed that light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra on January 9 and 10 and over Gujarat on January 9 .
Light to moderate rainfall is also likely over south Peninsular India with isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the next 3-4 days, said IMD.
The minimum temperature is likely to be above normal by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next five days.
The IMD weather predictions made for January till March stated that the rainfall during the period will be a little more than normal, particularly in the northern parts of the country.

IMD informed that a cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Uttar Pradesh in lower tropospheric levels. The weather agency has predicted that cold day to severe cold conditions are likely to prevail in several parts of the country in coming days.
Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted there would be no large change in the minimum temperature (Night temperature) over the districts of Odisha during the next five days.
As per the IMD, light to moderate rainfall is also likely at isolated places over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep during the next 5 days.
The Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded minimum temperature of 15.1 and 16 degree Celsius on Saturday, respectively.
