The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday informed that the low pressure area is likely to move slowly north-westwards across north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts.

As per the IMD’s latest forecast, extremely heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the next two days and decrease thereafter.

Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region during the next 24 hours. As per the IMD, the system is likely to concentrate into a Depression over the same region around July 26, 2023.

As per IMD, a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal off south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh around July 24.

As per the prediction of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), first western Odisha districts will experience heavy rainfall activities and subsequently, the amount of rainfall will increase in coastal districts till July 26 and 27.

A low pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal under its influence during the next 48 hours

A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over Northwest Bay of Bengal within 48 hours, said IMD.

According to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department, Kirmira in Jharshuguda district received the highest amount of rainfall.

It is pertinent to mention here that several parts of Odisha witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall activities on Saturday. Even the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar reported acute waterlogging conditions yesterday.

An 'orange warning' for heavy rainfall has been issued for seven districts of the state today. The alert has been issued for the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur and Koraput. 

Earlier, normal life across Cuttack and Bhubaneswar was affected following incessant rains that continued to lash since early morning today. As per IMD, several parts of Odisha experienced rainfall activities today.

As per IMD, a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the Northwest Bay of Bengal around July 16, 2023. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region during the subsequent two to three days, said IMD.

The IMD has also predicted that heavy to very heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand and heavy rainfall over Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh is likely to continue during the next five days.
