As per IMD, the southwest monsoon is likely to further withdraw from remaining parts of Gujarat, some parts of Maharashtra and some parts of east India during subsequent two days.
The weather agency has also predicted isolated heavy rainfall over south Peninsular India during the next five days.
“A cyclonic circulation lies over Comorin area and neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels. Another cyclonic circulation lies over central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels,” said IMD.
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Kerala and Mahe are likely to experience light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorm/lightning during October 13-17.
Light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is likely over South Interior Karnataka during October 13-15 and October 17, Coastal Andhra Pradesh on October 13 and 14 and Coastal Karnataka on October 17, 2022.
Light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls is very likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands during October 15-17. Widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorm/lightning is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam and Meghalaya on October 13, 2022.
The weather is likely to remain dry over most parts of Northwest India from October 13 onwards.

According to IMD, the depression is about 950 km south-southeast off Paradip and it is very likely to intensify into a deep depression in next 12 hours, and into a cyclonic storm in the subsequent 12 hours.
It is very likely to move west-northwestward initially and then north-northwestward towards Odisha – west Bengal coasts, said regional meteorological centre, Bhubaneswar.
Under its influence, one or two places in Odisha may witness moderate rain on November 8 while heavy rainfall is likely to occur in some coastal districts of Odisha on November 9 and 10, predicted the regional meteorological centre.
The weather department further forecast that the sea condition will be rough during that period. However, it did not give any details about its impact on Odisha if the depression turns into cyclone.

According the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar, the districts of Gajapati, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Bolangir, Koraput and Rayagada of South Odisha witnessed light to moderate rain today while dry weather prevailed over the rest districts.
“A trough at 0.9 km above mean sea level runs from North Kerala to South Chhattisgarh. The temperature will remain above normal in the next three days. The temperature in interior Odisha will increase by one or two degree,” informed meteorologist Umasankar Das.
The IMD in its special bulletin also issued ‘Yellow Warning’ for various districts where moderate rain, thunderstorm and lightning are likely to occur till April 1.
Light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nawrangpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Balasore, Cuttack, Khurda & Nayagarh on March 30, the IMD bulletin said.
Similarly, parts of coastal Odisha and the districts of Kandhamal, Nabangpur, Koraput, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Bolangir, Kalahandi & Nuapada district are likely to experience light to moderate rain on March 31.
Moreover, light to moderate rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Boudh, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj&Ganjam on April 1.

Meanwhile, in view of a steady rise in temperature across Odisha, the State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) has asked collectors of all districts to begin preparedness and response plan for possible heat wave condition during the Coronavirus Lockdown period in the State.

“I am sure that despite your preoccupation to resolutely contain COVID-19, the sudden rise in maximum temperature across the state has caused a matter of concern for all of us,” PK Jena, OSDMA Managing Director said in a letter to the collectors.

He said a perusal of the maximum day time temperature in recent days reveal that day time maximum temperatures in interior and coastal areas indicate a very steady rise which may continue and move IMD to declare heat wave.
“Aware of your preoccupation in this grave situation and closure of many line departments, still I request you to immediately hold regular virtual review meetings at district, sub-divisional and block levels to put in place the Standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the heat action plan 2020 for all line departments,” Jena added.

Officials of the Regional Met Centre in Bhubaneswar informed that the cyclonic circulation is likely to move west-northwestward and become more marked over north-west BoB today.

Keeping this in mind, the State government has reportedly asked the district Collectors to remain alert and be prepared for any exigencies or deal with any flood-like situation and landslide in the hilly areas.
As per the forecast, very heavy rainfall is likely in Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Dhenkanal where the Met centre has issued a red warning. The Met centre also issued a red warning for some areas of Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Deogarh districts for today and tomorrow and has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall and extremely heavy rainfall.
Similarly, an orange warning has been issued for Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Sonepur and Bolangir districts where there is a likelihood of moderate to heavy rainfall.
Moreover, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast till September 22, Met sources said.

Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over central BoB and its neighbourhood, a LOPAR is very likely to develop during the next 12 hours.
As per the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and a few places over rest of the districts.
A yellow warning has been issued for Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara districts, where heavy showers are very likely.
In the next 24-48 hours, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over Ganjam and Puri where an orange warning has been issued. Similarly, some parts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore districts will witness heavy rainfall during the period.
Meanwhile, in view of the weather conditions in south Odisha, Gajapati Collector has advised block officials to remain alert and be ready to deal with any water logging and landslide in vulnerable areas. A 12-member ODRAF team has also been deployed in the district, to deal with any exigency particularly water-logging in low-lying areas and landslides in hilly regions.
Due to likely formation of low-pressure area over the Central BoB, squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is likely over west-central Bay of Bengal till October 22. Keeping this in mind, fishermen have been asked not to venture into the deep sea areas of the west-central Bay of Bengal till October 22.
