House of Sibani Builder’s Ratikant Kanungo was sealed by the officials after orders from Khurda collector and with the help of Police.
According to sources, Ratikant had taken loan from the Gramya Bank by mortgaging his houses at Bhimtangi and Chintamaniswar.
However, Ratikant failed to repay his loan following which sealing orders were given by the Khurda collector.
Earlier, Ratikant was arrested by the CBI for taking loans from Gramya Bank in exchange of fake gold.
As per reports, the miscreants entered the bank premises by breaking the asbestos sheets. But while trying to break the lock of the strong room, the security alarm of the bank went off following which the miscreants immediately fled the spot.
After hearing the sound of siren, a team of cops from the Town Police Station, located near the bank, reached the spot. Later, the bank authorities also reached the spot.
"The miscreants entered from the back side, no cash has been stolen from the bank," said Branch Manager Prafulla Behera.
Meanwhile, police along with scientific team and dog squad has launched an investigation into the incident.
The robbers entered the bank by breaking open the locks of main door between 2 AM to 3 AM. Later, when they tried to enter the strong room of the bank, the siren installed inside went off and the miscreants fled the spot, said some locals.
Sources said, around Rs 13 lakh was stored inside the strong room of the bank yesterday.
They also damaged the CCTV cameras installed on the bank premises in a bid to destroy the evidences before fleeing the spot.
Meanwhile, a team of police officials have reached the bank and started an investigation in connection with the matter.
