Sources said that one Deputy Superintendent Of Police has also sustained critical injuries in the encounter. The DSP has been admitted to Bhima Bhoi hospital in Bolangir.
A criminal from Rajasthan, who was an accused in the murder of cricketer Suresh Raina's relatives in Punjab in 2020, was killed in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Police in Shahpur village of Muzaffarnagar district on Saturday, police said.
As the criminal started firing at the police team, the senior officers also retaliated. In the process, the criminal sustained a bullet injury on his leg and has been admitted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Vijay Kumar, a.k.a Usman Chaudhary, was seriously injured and taken to a hospital where he later died.
