Amid rising protests against a mega drinking water project, Section-144 has been imposed. This prohibitory order has been issued in Balakati, Bharigada, Barunadiha panchayats under Rajkanika of Kendrapara district.
Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC has been clamped in three panchayats of Kendrapara district for a period of two months to expedite the works of a mega drinking water project in Kendrapara district.
Basic grants (untied) can be utilised for location-specific felt needs except for salary or other establishment expenditure. The tied grants are to be utilised for drinking water (including rainwater harvesting and recycling) and solid waste management.
Nabard will set up two mega piped drinking water supply projects. While one will be in Jajpur district which will cover Badachana and Dharmasala blocks, the other is in Puri district which will cover Brahmagiri and Krushnaprasad blocks.
