Acting on a tip-off, police attempted to arrest Krishna yesterday. Finding police on the spot, Krishna opened firing at the cops first and the police also retaliated. Krishna has suffered a bullet injury on his left leg.
"After giving him a preliminary treatment, we sent him to Burla for further treatment. His condition is stable now," said a doctor at Bolangir hospital.
As per reports, several criminal cases are pending against Krishna including a robbery of Rs 19 lakh at Andhra Bank in Deogaon and loot of Rs 3 lakh from the Manager of Saintala liquor shop.
A few days back, another dreaded criminal Babul Mahanand was arrested following an encounter with Titlagarh Police. Babul had sustained a bullet injury on his leg and was admitted to VSS Medical College & Hospital in Burla for treatment.
Acting on a tip off, a team of Sadar Police and special squad intercepted Mehtab and one of his accomplices near the Kendrapara-Gandakhia road but the criminals open fired at the cops. Police personnel retaliated and a bullet hit the right knee of Mehtab.
However, the accomplice of Mehtab manged to give police a slip. Later, police seized one 9mm pistol, Rs 2000 cash and a mobile phone from Mehtab's possession.
As per reports, around 40 cases are reportedly pending against Mehtab at different police stations in Kendrapara, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Jagasinghpur districts.
