The Dengue is back in headlines once again after few days of lull. But this time, the fear of the mosquito-borne viral disease has become a cause of concern for residents in far-off places and rural pockets like Malkangiri where the public still struggles to access proper healthcare.

A top health official of the Odisha government on Monday asserted that there is no shortage of beds for treatment of dengue patients.
According to the ICMR study, the mean age of the suspected cases for dengue was 30.3 years (95% CI 29.5–31.1). Also, the study found that males were more commonly affected than females. Studies show in Odisha, the most common age group affected by dengue infection is 11– 20 years, says ICMR
Khordha district has reported as many as 113 dengue cases since January. Out of the total cases, a whopping 103 were detected only this month.
Amid the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, cases of dengue have emerged as fresh concerns for the administrative authorities in the state capital city of Bhubaneswar. As many as twelve cases of the vector-borne disease have been reported from Sailashree Vihar and Kalpana areas in the last 10 days, director of Public Health Niranjan Mishra was quoted as saying to the PTI.
