As per the latest forecast, moderate thunderstorm and lightning with rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Koraput, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundergarh and Kalahandi between 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM today.
Similarly, warning has also been issued for thunderstorm accompanied with gusty wind reaching a speed of 30 to 40 kmph for one or two places in the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Rayagada between 6: 30 PM and 8: 30 PM today.
As per the latest forecast, the alert has been issued till 7:30 PM today.
Thunderstorm with lightning and rain will occur in Sukinda-Danagadi-Rasulpur-Jajpur-Dharmasala-Badchana-Korei-Dasrathpur-Bari-Binjharpur of Jajpur district and Kankadahad-Bhuban-Gandia of Dhenkanal district by 5.30 PM today.
The office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has also issued dangerous thunderstorm and lightning alert for Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Ganjam districts in Odisha.
Officials stated that thunderstorm with lightning and rain will occur in Koraput-Baipariguda-Kundra-Jeypore-Upper kola-Lamptaput-Semiliguda-Narayanpatna-Bandugaon of Koraput district and Mathili-Khairaput-Malkangiri of Malkangiri district by 5.30 PM today
As per the data available from the Earth Networks, dangerous thunderstorm and lightning alert has been issued for Jashipur, Karanjia and Shamakhunta blocks of Mayurbhanj district within 4.17 PM today.
Dangerous Thunderstorm and Lightning Alert was also predicted at Ghatgaon, Harichandanpur blocks of Keonjhar district; Sukinda and Danagadi blocks of Jajpur district; Bhuban and Kankadahad blocks of Dhenkanal district within 4.20 PM today.
People of Buguda, Bellaguntha and Jagannathprasad blocks of Ganjam district have also been warned of dangerous thunderstorm and lightning alert till 4.18 PM today.
Earlier, dangerous Thunderstorm and Lightning Alert was issued for Jashipur, Karanjia and Shamakhunta blocks of Mayurbhanj district till 4.17 PM today. The alert was also issued in Ghatagaon, Harichandanpur, Anandapur and Ghasipura blocks of Keonjhar district.
As per the latest forecast, moderate thunderstorm and lightning with light to moderate rainfall and gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Nuapada, Bargarh, Ganjam, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Boudh, Angul, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Gajapati and Mayurbhanj districts between 4PM and 7PM today.
Prior to that, a moderate thunderstorm with lightning and rainfall warning was issued for Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Boudh, Keonjhar, Angul, Kandhamal, Nayagarh and Mayurbhanj districts till 5:30 PM today.
The Met officials further advised the people in these districts to remain alert as gusty winds reaching a speed of 30 to 40 kmph will also prevail during the thunderstorm.
Dangerous thunderstorm and lightning alert has been issued for Athamallik and Angul blocks of Angul district, Gania block of Nayagarh district, Harbhanga block of Boudh district within 3.51 PM today and Palalahada block of Angul district, Telkoi, Harichandanpur and Banspal blocks of Keonjhar district within 4.14 PM today.
According to official sources, the alert has been issued for Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nuapada, Sonepur, Bargarh, Boudh, Nayagarh, Angul, Jharsuguda and Dhenkanal.
People in these districts have been advised to stay indoors during these hours.
The latest weather bulletin further mentioned that moderate thunderstorm, lightning and light to moderate rainfall with gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are likely to continue over some parts of these districts.
Earlier, the IMD issued alert for Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati and Ganjam districts between 10:15AM and 12:15 PM today.

Dangerous thunderstorm and lightning alert has been issued for Khaira and Oupada block of Balasore district till 5.27 PM and for Bansapal, Keonjhar, Patna, Jhumpura and Champua blocks of Keonjhar district; Sukruli, Jashipur, Remuna and Kusumi blocks of Mayurbhanj district within 5.22 PM today.
Initially, the Met department forecast light to moderate thunderstorm and lightning at a few places over the districts of Mayurbhanj and Balasore between 3:15 PM and 6:15 PM today.

Earlier this morning, similar alert was issued for 24 districts- Sundergarh, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Bargarh, Balasore, Puri, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Boudh and Keonjhar between 5 AM and 8 AM.
Though the Met department had earlier predicted that heat wave conditions will prevail in the State for another 2-3 days, many areas including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and other coastal areas of Odisha witnessed heavy rainfall last night.
Meanwhile in Gujarat, the IMD has predicted that Cyclone Vayu is very likely to move nearly north-northwestwards along Saurashtra coast affecting Amreli, Gir Somnath, Diu, Junagarh, Porbandar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka and Kutch district with wind speed 155-165 kmph gusting to 180 kmph likely from today afternoon.
As per the latest bulletin issued by the IMD, moderate thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by rainfall is likely to occur at most of the places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak and Jajpur till 11.30AM today.
People in these districts have been cautioned to stay alert during the thunderstorm activity.
On Tuesday, the Met predicted thunderstorm and lightning with moderate spells of rainfall at one or two places over Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Koraput districts between 4:30 PM and 7:30 PM.
Several parts of Odisha have been experiencing intense spells of rainfall triggered by low pressure formed over Bay of Bengal since June 30.
