As the Cyclone Tauktae whirls towards the Gujarat coast, Maharashtra is preparing to grapple its impact on the coastal Konkan and some interiors which are likely to be affected with heavy rains and gusty winds, officials said here on Saturday.

As many as five NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) teams from Odisha have left for Gujarat to join the post-cyclone rescue and relief operation as the cyclone ‘Tauktae’ which is strengthening its base further over Arabian Sea is very likely to hit Gujarat coast in the form of very severe cyclonic storm on Tuesday.

The IMD has already put Mumbai and Thane under a Yellow Alert, signifying isolated heavy rains accompanies by strong winds, while an Orange Alert and Red Alert has been issued for several districts of Gujarat and Kerala.
