Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena on Saturday said that the crop loss caused by cyclone Jawad-induced rainfall will be assessed within a week after the impact of the cyclone ended.
These are quintals of fish strewn across the beach and rotting in rain near Chilika, under Krushnaprasad, Puri. They were netted in one bumper catch couple of days back. However, with no takers, it’s all dumped on the shores waiting to get washed away by the tides.

“Odisha has been receiving light to moderate rainfall since yesterday evening while Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Khordha districts are likely to witness heavy rainfall. Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are likely to receive maximum rainfall of 200 mm today,” informed Jena.

The MeT Centre in Bhubaneswar on Saturday said that people in the areas, which are likely to get affected by the cyclonic storm 'Jawad', should move to safer places before it comes closer to the Puri Coast on Sunday.
The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre has issued an advisory for the residents of the Twin Cities (Bhubaneswar, Cuttack) in view of the cyclone Jawad, which is fast approaching the Puri coast.
The revised datesheet for the rescheduled examinations will be uploaded later by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
