According to the Crime Branch, "To clearly establish that the accused has sound mental health, the Crime Branch decided to approach the Behavioural Analysis Unit of the FBI which has the best experts and equipment for such criminal investigation. 

The officials of the Department of Telecommunication and Telecom Service Providers (TSP)-BSNL, Airtel, Jio and Voda-Idea (VIL) attended the meeting today held in Bhubaneswar.

In the latest instance, the Crime Branch STF has seized a leopard hide from Khajuripada area of Phulbani in Kandhamal district on Sunday evening and arrested two persons in connection with the case.

Acting on a tip-off, the investigating agency of the Odisha Police visited Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Punjab and during the investigation, it reportedly found the involvement of some UP board officials in the mega fake certificate case.

Crime Branch DSP, Debabrata Chakra said, “Our investigation is going on at a good pace. We have almost collected all evidence. We are waiting for directions for the arrests.”

Acting on the tip-off, a team of STF carried out raids near Champali River embankment under Naktideula police limits in the district and arrested a wildlife criminal while he was striking a deal to sell a leopard skin.

As per official sources, a dedicated team of the Crime Branch is likely to visit Bolangir today to inquire into the case which has triggered a political slugfest in the State. Moreover, the team will also carry out investigation in other parts of the country, if needed.

As per reports, the accused is the developer of the website - www.grks.org of “Gramin Rojgar Kalyan Sansthan” which was used to float fake advertisements for jobs.

The minister said the probe agency has filed chargesheet in 88 cases and arrested 261 persons between 2013 and 2022. 

On the other hand, senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra today stated that till now it is not known why the Odisha Health Minister Naba Das was murdered and there is suspicion over Crime Branch.

A State government-constituted medical board comprising four experts from the SCB Medical College and Hospital had submitted its report about Gopal’s mental health on February 5. 

The Opposition BJP and Congress have smelled something fishy in the probe and suspected political or personal or business rivalries might be the reason behind the assassination of the minister.

As per reports, an eight-member CB team arrived at their residence to question and ascertain the events leading up to the suicide of their son Soumya.

While staging a demonstration on the Odisha Assembly premises on the first day of the budget session, Mishra claimed that the health minister’s killing was ‘government-sponsored’ and suspected the involvement of 5T Secretary VK Pandian and Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das in the crime.

Mishra further alleged that those, who are involved in the Naba Das murder, are doing conspiracy against him. "As several high profile people are involved in the murder, we are demanding a CBI probe," he said.
