Giving credit to the dedicated and tireless efforts of all the healthcare and frontline workers, the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday said 4,22,436 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.
An average daily recovery of more than 3,55,944 cases has been recorded in the last 14 days.
With the fresh recoveries, India's cumulative recoveries reached 2,15,96,512 on Tuesday and the National Recovery Rate has grown further to touch 85.60 per cent.
Ten states/UTs account for 75.77 per cent of the new recoveries with Kerala (99,651) on top followed by Maharashtra (48,211), Karnataka (34,635), Rajasthan (29,459), Uttar Pradesh (23,045), Tamil Nadu (20,486), West Bengal (19,101), Andhra Pradesh (17,334), Haryana (14,279) and Chandigarh (13,865).
The figure was reported at a time when India registered a total of 2,63,533 new cases in the last 24 hours. The daily new Covid cases being registered in India are now less than 3 lakhs consecutively for the second day.
India's total active caseload decreased to 33,53,765 on Tuesday. It now comprises 13.29 per cent of the country's total positive cases. There was a net decline of 1,63,232 cases in the active caseload in the last 24 hours.
Eight states cumulatively account for 69.01 per cent of India's total active cases comprising Karnataka (6,03,660), Maharashtra (4,48,000), Kerala (3,62,675), Tamil Nadu (2,31,596), Andhra Pradesh (2,11,554), Rajasthan (1,76,363), Uttar Pradesh (1,49,032), West Bengal (1,31,560).
Meanwhile, the cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country reached nearly 18.44 crore on Tuesday under Phase-3 of the nationwide vaccination drive.
A total of 18,44,53,149 vaccine doses have been administered through 26,87,638 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 a.m. on Tuesday. These include 96,59,441 Healthcare Workers (HCWs) who have taken the first dose and 66,52,389 HCWs who have taken the second dose. A total of 1,45,00,303 Frontline Workers (FLWs) have got the first dose and 82,17,075 FLWs received the second dose of vaccine.
A total of 59,39,290 beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group have received the first dose. People aged between 45 and 60 years who have been inoculated with the first dose are 5,76,64,616 while the second dose beneficiaries of the age group are 92,43,104. A total of 5,46,64,577 first dose beneficiaries and 1,79,12,354 second dose beneficiaries are more than 60 years old.
Maharashtra, Delhi and Tamil Nadu constitute more than 60 per cent of the total Covid-19 cases in the country.
Maharashtra has 1,69,883 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu (86,224) and Delhi (85,161) cases totalling 3,41,268 cases out of 5,66,840.
A total of 3,34,822 people have recovered and discharged from hospitals. The recovery rate is 59.06 per cent among the COVID-19 patients.
According to the Health Ministry data, 418 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the COVID-19 death toll to 16,893.
With a spike of 5,257 cases, Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state in the country. The state has a total of 1,69,883 cases, including 7,610 deaths.
Tamil Nadu is at the second spot with 86,224 confirmed cases, of which, 1,141 people have died, 47,749 have recovered and 37,334 are active.
Delhi with a total of 85,161 cases, including 2,680 deaths and 56,235 recoveries.
States with more than 10,000 cases include Gujarat with 31,938 cases and 1,827 deaths, Uttar Pradesh (22,828), Rajasthan (17,660), Madhya Pradesh (13,370), West Bengal (17,907), Haryana (14,210), Karnataka (14,295), Andhra Pradesh (13,891) and Telangana (15,394) cases.
India now has 1,036 diagnostic labs dedicated to COVID-19. This includes 749 in the government sector and 287 private labs. More than 1,50,000 samples are being tested every day. The number of samples tested in the last 24 hours has increased to 2,10,292.
Meanwhile, the global death toll due to COVID-19 crossed 5-lakh mark, as the total number of cases crossed the 10-million mark, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
Currently, the total number of cases increased to 10,199,798, while the fatalities increased to 502,947, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.

With a spike of 4,878 cases, Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state in the country. The state has a total of 1,74,761 cases, including 7,855 deaths.
Tamil Nadu is on the second spot with 90,167 confirmed cases, of which, 1,201 people have died, 50,074 have recovered and 38,892 are active.
Delhi with a total of 87,360 cases, including 2,742 deaths and 58,348 recoveries.
States with more than 10,000 cases include Gujarat with 32,557 cases and 1,846 deaths, Uttar Pradesh (23,492), Rajasthan (18,014), Madhya Pradesh (13,593), West Bengal (18,559), Haryana (14,548), Karnataka (15,242), Andhra Pradesh (14,595) and Telangana (16,339) cases.
The number of diagnostic labs is continuously increasing. India now has 1,049 diagnostic labs dedicated to COVID-19. These include 761 labs in the government sector and 288 private labs.
The overall number of global COVID-19 cases has increased to over 10.4 million, while the deaths have soared to more than 509,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
As of Wednesday morning, the total number of cases globally increased to 10,434,835, while the fatalities stood at to 509,779, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.

Alarmingly, the country added one lakh cases in merely four days. On Tuesday, the tally had surpassed the grim mark of seven lakh cases.
According to the data, out of a total of 8,20,916 cases, 5,15,385 patients have recovered while 2,83,407 remain active in the country. With more Covid-19 patients recovering, the gap between the number of recovered cases and active cases has increased by two lakh.
The rate of recovery of the Covid-19 patients has touched 62.42 per cent. Fatality rate has declined to 2.72 per cent. India, however, remains the third worst-affected country after the US and Brazil.
During the last 24 hours, 2,82,511 samples were tested, as the testing lab network continues to expand. As on date, more than 1,169 labs have enabled people to undergo coronavirus tests.
Maharashtra tops the chart and remains the worst hit state, with cases reaching up to 2,38,461 and 9,893 casualties so far, of which 226 occurred in the last 24 hours. Tamil Nadu remained the second worst hit with a total of 1,30,261 cases, including 1,829 deaths.
With 2,089 new coronavirus cases and 42 deaths in the last 24 hours, the national capital recorded a total tally of 1,09,140 and 3,300 deaths.
States with more than 10,000 cases include Gujarat with 40,069 cases and 2,022 deaths, Uttar Pradesh (33,700), Rajasthan (23,174), Madhya Pradesh (16,657), West Bengal (27,109), Haryana (19,934), Karnataka (33,418), Andhra Pradesh (25,422), Telangana (32,224), Assam (14,600) and Bihar (14,575) cases.
On the global front, the overall number of global COVID-19 cases has surged to over 12.4 million, while the deaths have increased to more than 559,000, according to Johns Hopkins University.
