Covid Update August 12: Daily Positivity Crosses 5%, Cases & Deaths Still High In India And Odisha
Of the total 945 new cases, 110 cases have been detected within the age group of 0-18 years. While 392 are local contact cases, 553 are detected from quarantine.
The Union Health Ministry said that as per the recommendation, it has been decided all beneficiaries from 18-59 years will be administered the booster after completion of 6 months or 26 weeks from the date of administration of 2nd dose.
As per the State Information and Public Relations Department, 11 out of total new cases are in the age group of 0-18 years. While 44 were quarantine cases, the remaining 29 are local contacts.
The toll mounted to 9,101 with three fatalities in Kandhamal district. These are confirmed as Covid deaths after an audit. Fifty-three other coronavirus patients have died due to comorbidities so far, according to data.
The other countries with over 10 million cases are France (23,191,580), the UK (19,256,835), Russia (16,619,507), Germany (15,723,907), Turkey (14,326,217), Italy (12,990,223) and Spain (11,100,428), the CSSE figures showed.
The daily infections are lowest since December 27, when the state had logged 123 cases. It had registered 168 cases and eight deaths on Tuesday.
There are 3,079 active COVID-19 cases as 585 patients recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 12,72,428, it said.
The active cases comprise 0.28 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has further improved to 98.52 per cent, the health ministry said.
The second worst hit country in terms of cases is India (42,894,345 infections and 513,226 deaths), followed by Brazil (28,679,671 infections and 648,496 deaths).
The daily positivity rate was recorded as 1.28 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded as 1.48 per cent, according to the ministry.
There are 7,099 active COVID-19 cases, including 1,303 in Khordha, which is in the yellow zone. As many as 50,536 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, a bulletin stated.
The active cases declined to 37,762, including 10,467 in Khurda, which is in the red zone along with Sundargarh and Cuttack, where current infections are over 2,500 each.
