In an official order issued by BeMC Commissioner J Sonal on July 18, residents of BeMC area and those visiting the city have been advised to wear face masks appropriately while in public places.
Speaking to media, Panigrahi said, "Odisha has a stock of only 2.21 lakh Covishield jabs. Except Bhubaneswar, all the districts were supplied with Covishield for the vaccination drive. So we need more Covishield vaccine for the booster dose."
It also directed the grievance redressal committee to decide the application of the claimant within four weeks.
According to a report, hundreds of people thronged at the centre from as early as 5 am today morning to get booster dose.
In the same period, 56 fatalities took the nationwide death toll to 5,25,660.
As per the data shared by the Odisha government’s I &PR department, 1065 new Covid-19 cases were reported from different parts of the state in the past 24 hours.
On July 5, the State had registered 334 fresh daily Covid cases. Today, it recorded 1,043 new cases, registering a significant jump.
Covid-19 related issues such as service and supply chain disruptions, resource diversion to response efforts, and containment measures that limited immunisation service access and availability also played a major role.

In the same period, the country reported 38 more Covid deaths taking the nationwide toll to 5,25,557.
According to sources, samples of 234 students were collected of which 44 found infected with the virus.
So far, less than 1 per cent of the target population of 77 crore in the 18-59 age group have been administered the precaution dose.
While more than 3,000 people are reported to have tested positive, only 31 have been admitted to hospitals. 25 among them are in the ICU after their condition worsened.
As per the data shared by the I&PR department, the active Covid-19 case tally in the State now stands over 3,200. The infections are rising in Khordha, Cuttack, Rourkela and Puri.
The death toll climbed to 5,25,454 with 26 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.
