Even as Odisha is witnessing a consistent fall in daily COVID-19 cases, the State health department on Thursday directed district and municipal administrations not to slacken the efforts implemented for management of the pandemic.
As the second wave of SARS-CoV-2 infections sweeps Odisha, as many as 816 prisoners have been tested positive for Covid-19 in the State during the month of May 2021, a statement released by the State Prison Headquarters has revealed.
Odisha touched a new height in daily cases of fatalities due to Covid-19 since the onset of pandemic with 35 more patients succumbing to the deadly virus in last 24 hours even as the single-day spike once again crossed 11,000 mark during the period.
The daily spike in Covid-19 cases saw a marginal dip in Odisha as the State reported a total of 10939 virus infections in the last 24 hours. The addition of the new positives takes the cumulative Covid tally to 714380. With 11614 recoveries reported late on Monday, the total number of recovered cases has risen to 601224. The active Coronavirus cases meanwhile have surged to 110554.
