The missing student has been identified as Hrudesh Panda, a student of a private college located in Patia area of the capital city.
According to the family members’ allegation, the college’s chairman had scolded him and beat him up in the college campus on Friday night and asked him to leave the institution.
After coming out from the college, he had called his father from someone’s mobile phone and narrated what had happened to him.
He has since gone missing.
In this regard, the missing student’s father has lodged a complaint at Chandrasekharpur police station against the college chairman.
Acting on the complaint, a team from the police station on Saturday visited the college and launched an investigation into the allegations.
Meanwhile, the mystery behind the missing of the student has deepened further as the college chairman has also gone incommunicado.
According to reports, Godavarish was missing since September 17 and his body was recovered from near Ghantasila hillock in Khurda district.
A packet suspected to be some poisonous substance has been recovered from near the body.
Though the exact cause of death is still unclear, police have started a probe into the incident.
According to reports, the girl, residing in the college hostel, is suspected to have been playing the online game for long. She rubbed the green chilli several times to cross the 42nd level of the game.
After getting information, the college authorities seized the mobile phone and informed her parents about the incident. Sources said the girl had also attempted to commit suicide at her home a few days back though no complaint was filed with the police.
Besides, some other students of the college are also suspected to be playing the online suicide game. However, the college authorities are yet to comment on the matter.
Earlier on September 5, an engineering student was rescued from the Blue Whale trap by the police here and later handed over to her parents after counselling.

The 2nd year student of a college in Gushkara was scolded by the teacher for failing to answer a question during philosophy class, following which he started to cry.
The student said he had received an SMS on August 6 informing him that he won a lottery and and to get the money he would have to send all the details about him and his family.
After he sent the details, he received a link of a game with an instruction that the money would be sent to his bank account after he completes all the stages of the game.
As part of the game, the student said, he was asked to slash his hand and send a selfie, run before a car, etc and he had completed 12 stages.
But after he refused to hang himself upside down from a tree and take a selfie, the instructor threatened him to kill his family members and he was depressed since then, the student said in the class.
The philosophy teacher took him to the teacher-in- charge who called the police.
Police said they took the student for counselling and to a hospital before handing him over to his parents.
The police also took the student's mobile to investigate the case.
