There seems to be no respite from cold wave conditions in Odisha as minimum temperature dropped to below 10 degrees at several places on Sunday.

As per IMD’s latest weather bulletin, Similiguda in Koraput district recorded the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 2 degree Celsius on Saturday night.

In its latest weather bulletin, the IMD said, “Northwesterly/northerly dry and cold wind at lower levels penetrating over Odisha and under its influence isolated cold wave is very likely over some parts of Odisha during next two days.”

Cold wave is sweeping across Odisha. Normal life has been affected due to considerable drop in the minimum or night temperature in different parts of the state.

As per latest forecast, the minimum temperature is likely to register a fall by 3 to 4 degree Celsius during next 24 hours.

As per IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar, dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Angul and Sundargarh.

As per IMD, a fresh cold wave spell is likely to commence over isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh-Delhi during January 1 to January 4, 2023.

As per IMD, there will be a gradual rise in the minimum temperature by 2 to 3 degree C over plains of Northwest India during the next two days and fall by 2 to 3 degrees thereafter.

As per the latest IMD bulletin, severe cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail in some parts over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi on December 27 and over West Uttar Pradesh on December 27 and December 28, 2022.

The IMD has issued a ‘yellow warning’ for dense fog in several parts of the State in the next 48 hours.

Due to the blanket of fog, morning traffic was affected with the visibility dropping to below 100 metres. Four and two-wheelers were seen moving along the city roads with fog lights on. 

As per the available data, seven places in Odisha recorded minimum temperature below 10 degrees in the past 24 hours.

 A low pressure area now lies over the central parts of South Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean.

As per IMD, dense fog alert has been issued for the states- Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi and Uttar Pradesh during the next 4-5 days.
