People in large numbers thronged various river ghats in Bhubaneswar to worship the Sun God (Surya) during the Chhath puja. The Chhath puja is celebrated for four days, after Diwali. Devotees worship the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya for the well-being and good health of their children, while many women observe a dawn-to-dusk fast as part of the tradition.

The Chhath festival began on November 8 with the 'Nahai Khai' ritual and concluded today on November 11 with devotees performing 'Usha Arghya'.
