Speaking to media, Dash said, “We have already been through three phases of Covid-19 pandemic and there are talks about the fourth wave. To keep the students aware about the pandemic and make them mentally prepared for the future, topics on Covid-19 will be included in class 10 syllabus. ”
“Similarly, the climate change has emerged as a global threat. To make students aware, topics on climatic change will be included in the class 10 syllabus,” Dash added.
"Due to the pandemic situation, 75 per cent syllabus was taught in the previous years. But, from the current academic session, 100 per cent syllabus of class 10 students will be covered and the Matric examination will be conducted accordingly," said the Minister.
Earlier on Saturday, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha notified the scheme of assessment, syllabus breakup for 2022-23 academic session which was approved by the School and Mass Education Department in June 2022.
As per the official notification, the academic session for 2022-23 will be from May 2022 to April 2023, and it will be divided into two terms.
The first term will be from May to October 2022 and the second one will be from November 2022 to April 2023.
As per Board of Secondary Education, 100% syllabus will be followed in class 9 and 10 for both Madhyama, HSC courses and for State Open School Certificate courses during academic session 2022-23.
BSE president Ramasis Hazra said that the Summative Assessment 2 has been made mandatory for the students. “We have zeroed in on three types of processes to evaluate the papers and the highest mark from the three will be awarded to the examinee,” he said.
The exams for the BSE Summative -2 will be conducted in a single sitting on each exams day and will begin at 8 am and end at 10am. However, the examinations for the State Open School Certificate Examinations will be conducted in two sitting for three days from the total days of the exams. The second sitting will be from 11am till 1pm.
All the papers will bear a time limit of two hours to answer except for Mathematics, which will be of 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Similarly, for Madhyama students, there will be double sittings for only two days and single sittings for the rest of the exam days.
There will be four different sets of question papers in each subject for class 10 students. Each paper, except the vocational trades and Third Language Visual Arts (TLV), will carry a maximum of 80 marks from which subjective questions will be of 30 marks and, objective questions, 50 marks.
While the objective type questions will be answered through OMR sheets, a question cum answer booklet will be provided to the examinees to answer the three subjective questions carrying 10 marks each.
far as the vocational trades are concerned, there is no provision of OMR sheets for objective type questions. Apart from the subjective questions of 30 marks, the examinees of vocational trades will have to appear for practical exams bearing 50 marks each, which will be conducted in their own schools under the supervision of the OSEPA. The practical exams will begin from April 2 and end on April 13.
The question papers will be different for regular and ex-regular students.
Madhyama
Four subjects; Sanskrit grammar and Philosophy, Sanskrit Literature, Applied Sanskrit and Odia will carry a maximum of 80 marks out of which 50 marks will be of objective type which will be answered through OMR sheets and 30 marks will be of subjective type to be answered on question cum answer booklets.
Time limit for these four subjects will be two hours.
Other subjects like Mathematics, Science, Social Science and English will carry a maximum of 60 marks from which 30 marks will be of multiple choice, and for other 30 marks, the examinees will have to answer subjective questions.
time limit for the above subjects will be 90 minutes except for Mathematics, which will be conducted for 105 minutes.
There will be a single set question paper for Madhyama exams.
Odisha State Open School Certificate Examination (OSOSC)
Barring Home Science and Painting, all other subjects under OSOSC will be conducted for two hours each. Time limit for Mathematics paper has been set at two hours and 15 minutes.
In Home Science, the theory paper will carry 65 mark and the practical paper, 15 marks.
Similarly in Painting, the theory will carry 20 a maximum of marks
And 60 marks for practical.
The Odia paper for fresh and back year students will be different in the OSOSC.
Apart from that, the Summative -2 examinations for the class-9 students will begin from April 13.
Ramashis Hazra, president of Board of Secondary Education (BSE) said that the Board has made adequate arrangements for the conduct of the OSSTET exam and more than 72000 students will write the test.
"The OSSTET exam will be conducted in 338 centres and 40 nodal centres have been set up for the same. The exam will be held in 2 sittings - 1st sitting from 9 am to 11:30 am and 2nd sitting from 1 pm to 3:30 pm," informed board president Hazra.
A total of 72,280 candidates will appear for the exam. As many as 68, 742 candidates are scheduled to appear in the paper 1 (first sitting) and 3538 candidates in paper II (second sitting), the BSE official said.
All districts of Odisha have exam centres. Apart from the squads formed by the DEOs and the Board, eight special squads have been formed for the exam, added Hazra.
He had earlier said that the candidates would be checked with thermal scanner and provision for hand sanitiser, isolation room for emergencies and other measures made available at every examination centre.
School and Mass Education Minister Samir Dash on Tuesday informed that the district administrations are well prepared to conduct the examination in their respective districts. “The exam will begin tomorrow and preparations are already in place for its’ smooth conduct,” Das said.
“At present, there are fears and apprehensions about the emerging Covid-19 third wave. We pray to Lord Jagannath and hope the third wave should not visit us. Even if it happens, the importance and benefits of holding summative examinations could be realised then only,” Dash added.
About the advantages of this new format, the Minister said it will help boost self confidence among the students. After the exams, when the students get their results they will be able to find out where they went wrong. This will help them rectify their mistakes and accordingly, they can prepare themselves for the second part of the examination (summative assessment II), he said.
It is worth mentioning here that in the backdrop of the increasing Covid-19 cases last year, the government had to cancel the matric examinations and marks were evaluated through special criteria. Besides this, there was also delay in publishing the results. Again, offline examinations had to be conducted for unsatisfied students.
To do away with a similar situation, students will appear two summative examinations in a year from this year onwards.
Unlike colleges, there is no provision for a special fund for schools. Therefore, it becomes difficult for schools to set up CCTV cameras on premises whereas colleges have special funds which they can utilise, the minister said.
“The board will consider whether it has enough funds for 3,000 examination centres. If there is any fund crunch, sensitive centres will be chosen for installation of CCTV cameras,” said Jahan Ara Begum, president of the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.
Earlier, the State government had stated that CCTV cameras will be installed at all matric and Plus-II examination centres to check malpractice.
Meanwhile, educationists opined that the State government can send a proposal to the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyaan (RMSA) for CCTV installation at exam centres.
“The government can submit a proposal to the RMSA to set up spacious examination hall and install CCTV cameras. There is no need for the board to spend money as RMSA fund can be utilised for the same,” said academician Satyakam Mishra.
A total of 26, 643 candidates appeared the test conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) in 100 centres across the State.
According to reports, the students were asked to report at the examination centre at 8.30 am that kicked off at 9 am will continue till 11.30.
The candidates will be spared an extra 15 minutes time for Mathematics paper, informed BSE officials. Meanwhile, adequate security arrangements have been made to prevent malpractice and ensure smooth conduct of the exams, officials added.
The offline and online form fill-up for the Class X supplementary examination were held between March 25 and May 31 this year.
It may be noted that a total of 6, 08,031 students had appeared the annual matriculation examination conducted by the board at 2,818 centres across the state between February 23 and March 8. The results were announced on May 7.
Mass Education secretary, Pradipta Mohapatra on Friday informed that from 2019 onwards, CBSE format will be followed for matric exams conducted by the BSE in Odisha.
“We have received a lot of complaints relating to problems in the 50-mark exam through OMR sheets. So, the OMR-model will be changed from the next year,” said Mohapatra.
According to sources, under the new exam pattern, there will be no OMR-based examination and students will be given five questions carrying 10 marks each.
A team headed by the board director and comprising six to seven persons including director of Higher Education department, Mass Education department secretary and 1-2 District Education Officers has been constituted to look into the issue.
The team will submit its report on the proposed change in the matric exam model within one month following which the new pattern will be introduced, Mohapatra said.
Students expecting additional marks in their objective and subjective papers can apply for recheck till May 10, 2018, official sources said.
“The scanned copies of OMR sheet were made available on the official website www.bseodisha.ac.in from 2 pm today. The students who had appeared for the annual HSC exams, State Open School Certificate (SOSC) exams and Madhyama examination-2018, can get the copy of the OMR sheet till next seven days,” Jahan Ara said.
“Those students who are expecting additional marks, in their objective and subjective papers, can apply for rechecking till May 10, through online mode only by visiting our official website. Similarly, Madhyama students can apply for a recheck or additional checking of their answer sheets from May 10 till May 25,” she added
On the other hand, declaring the dates of the supplementary exam for the students who have failed in the regular exam this year, Jahan Ara said that the examinations will be conducted from June 22. “The form fill up process for the supplementary exams will begin on May 25, 2018 and continue till May 31, 2018,” she said.
The Board President further requested the Heads of all the schools to collect the certificate of students from their respective district headquarters.
“The original pass certificates, migration certificates, marks memorandum, and other certificates of students, passed or failed, will be submitted to their respective District Headquarters from where they can collect it before June 22, ” she clarified.
Earlier in the day, School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra at the board office in Cuttack informed that this year the overall pass percentage has been 76.23 percent.
As many as 1,715 students have scored A1 grade, 15,689 scored A2, 39,252 scored B1 and 68,009 scored B2. A total of 1,24,665 students have scored above 60 percent.
Like last year, this year too, the girls have outshone boys. A total of 2,22,043 girl students cleared the examination as compared to 2,16,305 boys.
While 429 schools have achieved 100% result this year, 36 schools reported nil results, said Patra. In total 5,67,294 candidates from 8,855 schools had filled up the forms of which 5,54,339 appeared the exam, he added.
The minister also informed that a total of 1,247 cases of malpractice were detected this year.
As per reports, Balasore has recorded the highest pass rate of 88.15 per cent while Malkangiri recorded the lowest at 59.32 per cent.
BSE president, Jahanara Begum informed today that the board will announce the Matriculation results at 9 AM on May 7 at its central office in Cuttack in presence of School and Mass Education Minister, Badri Narayan Patra and Principal Secretary, PK Mohapatra.
“Results of the Madhyama Sanskrit 2018 examination and the State Open School Certificate Examination 2018 will also be announced on the same day,” stated Begum.
The results will be hosted on the board’s two websites - www.bseodisha.ac.in and www.bseodisha.nic.in - at 12 PM.
In places where there is no internet facility, students can get their results through SMS as well by sending message 'OR10<space>roll number' to 5676750, said sources.
The board has made arrangements to upload OMR answer sheets on 'www.bseodisha.ac.in' at 2 PM on May 7, stated Examination Controller, Nihar Ranjan Mohanty in a presser.
Besides, the board will set up a control room which will operate from the date of announcement of the results for seven days. Students and parents can call up the control room numbers - 0671-2412059 and 0671-2412060 - during office hours from 10 AM to 5 PM for any queries pertaining to the results, Mohanty added.
This year the Matriculation examination was surrounded by controversies with claims that questions papers of all the subjects got circulated on social media after the annual examination began on February 23.
However, the School and Mass Education Minister had refuted the allegations and termed it as an intentional attempt to disrupt the examination.
The process for evaluation of answer scripts began on March 20.
The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) authorities informed that once verification of evaluated answer sheets and uploading of marks to the server are complete, the results will be announced.
“The evaluation process for the year is almost complete. There are certain verifications regarding posting of marks which will be carried out following which the process will actually conclude,” said president of BSE, Jahanara Begum
The matric examinations began on February 23 and continued till March 8. Around 6, 08, 000 students appeared for the examination this year.
As many as 14,770 teachers were engaged in 60 centres across the State for evaluation of answer scripts.
The Board's president Jahan Ara Begum informed that 13,280 teachers will be engaged for the evaluation process at 57 centres across the State.
"The process will be completed within 12 days," she added.
More than six lakh students appeared for the annual Matriculation examination this year. The examination began on February 23 and will continue till March 8.
On the other hand, the Matric examination continues to get marred by allegations of question paper leak with papers of MIL, English, Mathematics and Science subjects getting circulated on WhatsApp during the exam hours.
The Crime Branch has already started a probe into the alleged question paper leak.
It has been alleged that the papers have been circulated on the social media platform from one of the exam centres in Odapada block of Kendrapara district.
As per sources, the exam began at 9.30 am today while around 9.54 am the papers had already gone viral on WhatsApp.
Meanwhile, when the District Education Officer (DEO) was contacted, he said he received the information at around 11.40 am by the time the examination was already over.
Despite the Tehsildar and Magistrate being present along with so many staff deployed in the exam centre, how the papers surfaced on WhatsApp is a serious question. It has also been alleged that a few question papers were again sent inside the hall with answers marked in the paper itself.
However, School and Mass Education Minister Badri Nayan Patra ruled out question paper leak and said, "Reports of matric question paper viral on social media are false. Question paper went out of the centre only after the examination was over and it came to the notice of district education officer at 11:45 am."
Prior to this, the question paper of MIL-Odia and English surfaced on social media when the exams were underway. Meanwhile, the disturbing trend of question papers going viral soon after the commencement of exam has certainly raised serious doubts over the ‘internal vigil’ by the authorities responsible for the conduct of the matriculation examination in the State.
Surprisingly, the photographs of first language (MIL) subject were doing rounds on WhatsApp while the examination was underway.
The incident came to light after pictures of the question paper started circulating on WhatsApp in Aul area of Kendrapara district this morning which later went viral across the State.
However, School and Mass Education Minister Badri Nayan Patra after conducting a preliminary inquiry ruled out question paper leak and advised students to appear the examination confidently.
"It is not question leak rather it is a mischief to disturb the examination process and create panic in the minds of the students," said Patra.
Senior BSE officials on the other hand claimed that adequate measures were undertaken to restrict the entry of mobile phones in examination centres.
BSE President Jahan Ara Begum stated that only the centre superintendents are allowed to take mobile phones to the examination centres.
"Clear instructions were issued to center superintendents regarding entry of mobile phones. If any violation is detected stern action will be taken against center superintendents," said Begum.
As many as 6, 08,031 students appeared for the matriculation examination which is being conducted at 2,818 centres across the State.
A total of 95 lecturers from across the State were included in the squads to check malpractice. But only 46 lecturers turned up for the training programme, informed sources.
"The 49 absentee lecturers have been asked to report at the BSE office. If they do not comply with the directive, action will be taken against them," said BSE president, Dr Jahan Ara Begum.
The Sundergarh district administration has made all possible security arrangements for smooth conduct of the HSC examination in Maoist-affected areas. Question papers have been kept under tight security at five nodal centres in Bonai.
As many as six lakh students across the State will appear for the exam.
The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) officials are also on their toes while the District Education Officers are providing trainings to block education officials and centre superintendents on how to conduct the examination in a transparent manner.
On the other hand, anxious students are consulting teachers to get their doubts on various subjects clarified ahead of the HSC exam starting from February 23.
"During classes all the subjects are being revised and doubts are being cleared by teachers. I hope to secure good marks in the HSC exam," said Raj Kumar Moharana, a student.
"After pre-board exam, crash courses have started at the school. I am hopeful to secure above 92% marks in the exam," said another student A. Jyotirmaye Patra.
S. Mohan Rao, chairman, Nilakantheswar Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir, Berhampur, said, "After pre-board exam, arrangements have been made for students to practice in OMR-based pattern and special classes are being organised to clear doubts and motivate students."
On the other hand, armed forces have also been deployed at all nodal centres to keep a 24-hour vigil. Sources said, the question papers as well as other confidential materials have been kept at such nodal centres.
The question papers will be despatched to concerned centres a day before the examination.
A three-tier squad system has been put in place by district education officials to check incidents of malpractices during the examination.
The question papers and other confidential documents have been kept at the Lamtaput police station, which has been converted into a nodal centre.
As many as 302 nodal centres have been identified for safe storage of question papers and other confidential documents, BSE officials informed.
Meanwhile, Odisha government has instructed senior BSE and district administration officials to maintain strict vigil to put a check on incidents of malpractice during the matriculation examination starting from February 23. The exam will continue till March 8.
Chief Secretary AP Padhi today reviewed the arrangements made by the BSE at a meeting held at State Secretariat.
Instructions were issued to Collectors and SPs of various districts through video conference about the measures that needs to be followed to check malpractice incidents.
Around 5,90,330 students, including 5,67,254 regular students will appear the examination in 2,818 centres across the State.
This year, the School and Mass Education Department has made certain changes in the examination pattern this year stop malpractice. Students will have to appear the exam at centres (other schools) instead of their respective schools.
BSE President Jahan Ara Begum informed that a three-tier system will be put in place for this year's matriculation examination to curb malpractices.
A total of 37 central squads under BSE have been constituted besides 58 other squads that will monitor conduct of the examination under the supervision of district education officers.
Candidates who had appeared the examination can check the results at the official website of the board, bseodisha.ac.in, by using roll number, name, and date of birth etc.
Candidates can also download OTET OMR answer sheets and the final answer keys from the board's website.
OTET was successfully organized in two sessions on 25 September 2017 at various examination centers in Odisha. The provisional answer keys of the examination was released in October.

How to download OTET 2017 result:
"The State Open School (SOS) and Sanskrit Madhyama exam will also be conducted simultaneously this year. The SOS exam will continue till March 8 while Sanskrit Madhyama will conclude a day before (March 7),” Examination Controller Nihar Ranjan Mohanty said at a press meet in BSE headquarters in Cuttack.
However, the exam time schedule will remain unchanged like previous year, he added. Question papers for SOS and HSC will be same unlike earlier times.
The students will appear for Odia on the first day of the test while exam for English will be held on February 26. Hindi/Sanskrit test will be conducted on February 28, Mathematics on March 3, Science on March 6 and Social Science on March 8.
The practical examination for vocational courses will be held on any day between February 12 and 17 prior to the theory test. The Board will appoint both internal and external examiners to conduct the test.
The process for filling up forms is in progress which will continue till November 22. Candidates can do the same by depositing the requisite fee amount till 11.45pm on November 21.
The candidates of 15 drought-hit districts have been exempted from examination fee. The exam fee has been waived for the matric students in Bolangir, Angul, Bargarh, Deogarh, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Khurda, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Sambalpur and Sonepur.
Generally, 2,900 exam centres are set up across the State every year, but this year 100 more centres may be established due to simultaneous SOS and HSC examinations, Mohanty added.
Sources said that the Board has not yet received any directive from the government on reforms in exam process it had announced recently. As per the reforms, students will no more take the exam in their respective schools from the next exam session. Instead, they will be allotted another centre within a radius of 5km of their schools.

Students studying in government and private schools affiliated to the BSE are required to fill up their forms by logging into the official website www.bseodisha.ac.in. and register their names and necessary details.
Last Date of Registration
The last date of filling up of application forms (deposit of fee) without fine is November 16. Candidates who register and deposit the fees by November 16 have to compulsorily submit the application by midnight of November 17.
Similarly, the last date of filing up application forms (deposit of fee) with fine is November 21 and candidates have to submit their form finally by midnight of November 22.

Fee Structure
Students appearing as regular will have to deposit Rs 320 for applying, students under categories of Quasi-Regular, Ex-Regular, Correspondence-Regular, Correspondence-Ex-regular will have to be deposited Rs 405. Fine for late registration and submission is Rs 50.
Candidates who fulfil the necessary conditions mentioned below shall be considered valid and will be issued admit cards.
A notification displayed on the board's website said, all students who have been enrolled by their schools during 2016 can only fill up their application forms for appearing at the Annual HSC Examination 2018. However students who have not been enrolled during 2016 can appear the examination under correspondence course category after taking admission on or before November 22 at Zonal offices of the board.

New Pattern
Earlier last week, the BSE introduced a new pattern of examination for the students. As per the new proposals, Matric students will not be allowed to appear for the exam in their respective schools and instead they will be allotted another school within five km distance of the school in which they are studying. This norm was earlier relaxed after 12 Matric students died in road accidents while travelling to their examination centres in 2012.

In 2013, the Board had changed the rules allowing students in a majority of schools to appear the examination in their own alma mater.

Meanwhile, candidates can challenge the provisional answer keys, in case they find anything wrong, from October 9 to October 15. To challenge the responses given in the answer key, a payment of Rs 500 is required per response.
The candidates can upload authentic documents in support of their challenges which will be examined and analysed by the 'Question Analysis Committee' of the Board.
Final answer keys of OTET-2017(1st) will be hoisted after detailed analysis of the challenged responses by the said committee. The result shall be processed on basis of the final answer as decided by the committee. The decision of the committee shall be final and binding on candidates.

As per the results announced today, 2,703 boys and 2,560 girls have passed the supplementary exam.
BSE president Sushant Das said students can get their results on www.bseodisha.ac.in from 10.30 am onwards.
Results of the State Institute of Open School (SIOS) examination was also declared today. Total 13,396 students had sat for the SIOS exam.
Examination Committee of BSE will hold a meeting at 9 am after which the results will be declared by 9.30 am. Students can get the details of their results on the two websites of the Board — www.bseodisha.ac.in and www.bseodisha.nic.in — from 10 am onwards.

Results of the State Institute of Open School (SIOS) examination will also be published today. While 11,547 students had appeared the supplementary exam, 13,396 students had sat for the State Open School Certificate Exam, informed Controller of Examinations, BSE, Dr Nihar Ranjan Mohanty.
Talking to OTV, Mohanty said, "It was our aim that those who clear the exams will be able to get admission into colleges in the same year. We have discussed it with higher education authorities and the pass out students will certainly be able to get admission into colleges."

Total 6,05,071 students sat for the HSC examinations, which was conducted from February 28 to March 10 this year.
According to sources, the evaluation process will start from 10 am and continue till four in the afternoon. The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) has set a target to complete the process within 10 days.

Talking to media persons, Headmistress of Bharati Bidyapitha in Ganjam district, Bijaylaxmi Behera said, "There are two units for each subject, so we have prepared 12 rooms for evaluation. One Chief Examiner, three Deputy Chief Examiners and 15 Assistant Examiners will remain in each unit and all will join today. The marks will be posted online."

For first of its kind, the name of the candidates have been printed on the OMR sheets this year. "After getting the OMR sheet,candidates should ensure that that was correct one. We have printed the name of the examinees on the sheet this year. The candidate has to darken the set code properly and invigilators have been asked for proper attestation of the sheet." said Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, Controller of Examination, BSE.
Briefing media persons after a video conferencing with the district collectors and SPs at the State Secretariat here, Mishra said this year, a total of 3,80,707 Regular and Ex-Regular students of 1504 government and private junior colleges will appear in the annual Plus Two examinations in 1106 centres in Odisha which will begin from March 6 and continue till March 28.
For smooth conduct of the examinations, a total of 202 Educational Management Hubs have been set up in 30 districts, he added.
The minister said prior to the videoconferencing today, a video conferencing with the district collectors and SPs was held on February 4 in the presence of the chief secretary, secretaries of Higher Education and School and Mass Education.
“Today, another video conferencing with the district collectors and SPs was held in the presence of the Development Commissioner, secretaries of Higher Education and School and Mass Education, Higher Education minister Pradip Panigrahi, senior officials of Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) and Board of Secondary Education (BSE). It was revealed that the district collectors have one round meeting with the Educational Management Hubs and the principals of government and private junior colleges,” the minister added.
He said it was decided that the steps taken in last year regarding conducting examinations in sensitive and vulnerable centres will be put in place this year. “Special emphasis is given on safe despatch of question and answer papers from the hubs. Besides, discussions on proper functioning of the Central and zonal squads during the examinations with the collectors and SPs were also held. The collectors and SPs were allowed to deploy additional police force at the sensitive examination centres. Besides instructions were given to them to work as per the guidelines of the state government,” Mishra added.
He said it has been decided that the Plus Two question papers would be sent to 202 examination hubs on February 25 while HSC question papers would be sent to all 295 nodal centres on February 20.
The question papers would reach the examination centres half an hour before the commencement of the examinations.
A total of 6,05,105 students will appear in the annual HSC examinations which will be concluded on March 10.

“This year, five UTPs will appear the annual High School Certificate examinations in Regular, Ex-Regular and Correspondence courses. They will appear in the Special Home in Angul for which we have made the Special Home as a sub-centre which will function under the Angul High School examination centre. The Board has appointed a deputy centre superintendent. Besides the Board has also sought special assistance from the authorities of the Special Home who have assured us to provide a vehicle to despatch question papers from Angul High School examination centre for the five UTPs.
Asked what advice he would give to the students for the examinations which is just 10 days away, Mohanty said the Board has been giving tips to the students in the print and electronic media. “My advice to the students is that they should keep their cool and never get panicked. Though they are putting on more efforts for the preparation for the examination, they should not neglect their daily chores which they should perform in time. Apart from their study, they should relax themselves by playing games and other outdoor activities,” he pointed out.
Talking about the preparation the Board has undertaken to ensure that the examinations would be incident free, Mohanty said emphasis is given on timely despatch of question papers to the examination centres and safe return of answer sheets to the nodal centres.
A total of 6,05,064 students will appear in the examinations in 2939 centres.
Talking to media persons here, Controller of Examinations, BSE, Dr Nihar Ranjan Mohanty said the Board has uploaded the admit cards of the Regular and Correspondence students on its official website www.bseodisha.nic.in today.
“The Regular Students can download their admit card by logging in their Unique Identification Number (UIN) and mentioning their date of birth which is mandatory. Before entering into the examination hall, students have to get their downloaded admit card signed by the headmaster of their school. As most of the students do not know their UIN, they have to consult their school authorities to get their UIN to download their admit card. The Correspondence students have to get their downloaded admit card signed by the zonal deputy secretary,” Mohanty pointed out.
He further said the Board will also send the hard copy of the admit card to all the schools which will provide their students by February 22.
“Out of 295 nodal centres in the state, we will set up nodal centres in 27 police stations in Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Malkangiri and Koraput districts taking note of the Maoist threat. The question papers from these nodal centres would be despatched to the examination centres and the used answer sheets would be collected from the centre and taken to the nodal centres on the same day of the examination. Apart from this, we will install CCTV cameras in all sensitive centres if necessary,” said Dr Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, Controller of Examinations, BSE, to media persons here today.
He said the Board has expedited its pre-examination work. "We have sent the intimation letter on examination centres. Besides, we have also informed the schools which would be either the nodal centres or the evaluation centres," he pointed out.
Talking about the students who will appear in the examinations through correspondence course, he said these students who had filled up their forms in the zonal office will download their admit cards which will be uploaded on the BSE website after February 7. “But they can download their admit card by logging in their Unique Identification Number (UIN) which we have already uploaded on our website,” he informed.
Asked about the steps the Board has taken to curb malpractice during the examinations, Mohanty said we will form the flying squads tentatively by February 23, five days before the commencement of the examinations.
Talking to media persons here, BSE president Sushant Das said examination will be held in one subject everyday.
“The examinations would begin at 9 AM. The timing of examinations for all subjects would will be two and half hours except Mathematics which will have an extra 15 minutes duration. However, the timing for Madhyama examinations would be held from 2 PM to 4.30 PM,” Das informed.
He further said a total of 6,05,064 students will appear in the annual HSC examinations while 3595 students will appear in the Madhayma examinations this year. The examinations will be held in 2939 centres.
It is worthwhile here to mention that the State Election Commission (SEC) prior to its announcement of the date for the Panchayat elections, had asked BSE to inform about the probable schedule for the annual HSC examinations.Also Read: Matric exam schedule published
“Usually the HSC examinations are held in the last week of February. The Board had received an order from the School and Mass Education department not to conduct HSC examinations in February. But after receiving the letter from the SEC about the schedule of the examinations, the Board later sent a letter to the Commission through School and Mass Education department for approval of the revised examination schedule,” the BSE president had told the media on October 13 last year.
Das had also said the SEC had told the School and Mass Education department and the BSE to fix a convenient schedule for the HSC examinations keeping the future of about six lakh students in mind so that the examinations and the Panchayat elections can be conducted smoothly.
Talking to OTV over telephone, Patnaik said, “Whatever has been telecast on TV channels regarding my age has saddened me. During my service career I have never violated the law.”
When asked about the talks on his Matriculation exam passing out age of 14, Patnaik stated, “In 1971, I had appeared for the HSC exam and there was no age restriction during those years. If someone was able to grasp course subjects, he/she was allowed to sit in that class. As per my knowledge, the norm of minimum 15 years age for appearance in the HSC exam was implemented in 1992.”
Negating the age fudging charges again, the Higher Education director added, “When I was employed as a lecturer, the government should have barred me during the time of appointment itself.”

He further stated, “The Higher Education department has written to the Board of Secondary Education asking to clarify how I was allowed to sit in the HSC exam. Therefore, they can tell in detail on the issue.”
Notably, the Higher Education department Additional Secretary had written to the Board of Secondary Education Secretary to probe into the age fudging allegations and submit a no-objection certification if issued to Patnaik to appear for the HSC exam at the age of 14.
Informing the media, Controller of Examinations, BSE, Nihar Ranjan Mohanty said the last date of form fill-up without fine has been extended from November 16 to 19 while the last date of form fill-up with fine has been extended from November 21 to 24.
“The Board has taken a decision to this effect for the convenience of the students,” he said.
Notably, the form fill-up had started from November 1.
Talking to newsmen the board’s exam controller Nihar Ranjan Mohanty said, “Students can fill-up forms for the HSC examination without fine till November 19. As per the earlier announcement, the last date was today.”
He further stated candidates can submit the form with fine till November 24 to be able to sit for the HSC examination.

The online form fill-up for the annual examination began from the first week of November.
The HSC examination would begin on February 8 and conclude on March 10. Besides, the annual Sanskrit Madhyama examination would be conducted simultaneously with the same schedule of the HSC examinations. About six lakh students will appear in the HSC examinations while about 4000-5000 students will appear in the annual Sanskrit Madhyama examination.
The examination will kickstart on February 28 with the first language literature paper. While, exam for second language English will be held on March 3, on March 4 has been scheduled for the third language paper Hindi or Sanskrit.
Mathematics exam will be held on March 6, Science on March 8 and Social Sciences on March 10.
The students will have to fill up their forms online between November 16 and 22.

Admit cards will be issued to the candidates from February 5, 2016 onwards.
Meanwhile, examination fees have been waived off for SC & ST students appearing for the examination.
“Exams will begin on February 28, 2017 and conclude on March 10, 2017. The students belonging to the SC ST category appearing for the regular examination will not have to pay any fees for the exams,” said BSE President Sushant Das.
Talking to media persons, BSE president Dr Dakshya Prasad Nanda said a total of 98875 candidates will appear in the Test to be conducted in two sittings in 206 centres.
He said the Board has uploaded the admit cards of the candidates on its website www.bseodisha.ac.in. “The candidates can download their admit cards from the Board website from today,” he said.
OTET is a mandatory examination which has to be taken by all B.Ed candidates who wish to teach in the government run schools as well as in the schools run by private managements in Odisha.
Informing this to the media today, president of Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Dr Dakshya Prasad Nanda said the results would be announced at the Board’s headquarters here at 11.30 AM. Besides, the students can get the details of their results on the two websites of the Board— www.bseodisha.ac.in and www.bseodisha.nic.in —from 12 pm onwards.
The Supplementary examination was held from June 2 to 8 at 45 centres in all district headquarters.
Evaluation of answer sheets had begun at five centres on June 20 and concluded on June 22. After the evaluation, the Board authorities had sent the marks online to the result processing firm along with the OMR sheets.
Nanda also informed that the results of the State Institute of Open School (SIOS) examination will also be announced simultaneously on July 8.
About 3, 200 students had applied for the examinations of which 2820 had appeared in the examinations at 17 centres in Angul, Puri, Ganjam, Mayurbhjanj, Cuttack, Kalahandi and Balangir districts held on April 11.
To help these students, the Board, for the first time, had started the SIOS programme from this year to allow Class VII dropout students and students who have failed in the High School Certificate (HSC) examinations to appear in the High School Certificate (HSC) examinations.
Under the programme, candidates will have nine chances, twice a year, for five years to clear the HSC examinations.
Candidates wanting o appear in OTET will have to fill up their forms online on www.bseodisha.ac.in. The form fill-up will start at 8 AM tomorrow and will continue till midnight on July 11.
“While filling up the form, candidates have to select only one of the two categories. If any candidate is found filling the forms for two categories, his/her form would be rejected forthwith,” BSE president Prof Dakshya Prasad Nanda told media persons here today.

Talking to OTV, BSE president Prof Dakshya Prasad Nanda said a total of 11,620 students had filled up forms online for the examination held at 45 centres in all district headquarters.
He said the Board staffs have already moved out of the headquarters office to collect the answer scripts from the examination centres for evaluation.
“We will conduct evaluation, which will be held at five centres, for three days beginning June 20. After the evaluation is over, we will send the marks online to the result processing firm. We will then collect the OMR sheets and send it to the firm. We are trying to announce the results at the earliest possible. We are trying to announce the results by first week of July. But we can tell the media about the exact date for announcement of results after the valuation is completed,” Nanda said.
Informing this to the media today, BSE president Prof Dakshya Prasad Nanda said the students who want to appear in the Supplementary examinations this year will have to fill up their forms online through www.indiaresults.com from May 13 till midnight of May 17.
“The Board has requested the headmasters of each high school to sincerely assist the students in filling up their forms online. The form fill-up would be done with direct supervision of the headmasters,” he added.
Nanda said though the Board has finalised the commencement of the supplementary examinations from June 2, it will announce the detailed programmes of the examinations through the media after some days.
He also informed that the Board will select the examination centres in the district headquarters while the procedures of the examinations will be the same as the annual HSC examinations.
Informing this to the media on Thursday, BSE president Prof Dakshya Prasad Nanda said keeping the larger interests of the students in view and to ensure our transparency in the evaluation, the Board has provided them the scanned copy of the OMR sheets online at free of cost.
“The Board has uploaded the OMR scanned copies on www.indiaresults.com at 8 AM on Wednesday, which will be available in the aforesaid website till midnight on May 11,” he added.
He said the Board has uploaded the OMR sheets of all six subjects numbering about 36 lakh on the website. The students can access their OMR sheets of any subject or all the subjects by keying in their roll number and download them.
Nanda said though uploading 36 lakh OMR sheets amounting to two terabyte data on the website is a herculean task, the Board managed to get the job done after the said website agreed to its request to accommodate the data on its server.
Talking about the number of students who have applied online for re-addition and re-checking of their papers, he said the Board will calculate the number of applications 4-5 days after May 11.
"After receiving all applications, we will send the answer scripts to the examiners for re-evaluation in the first phase. If there is any mistake in the marks awarded to the students, we will rectify them, revise their mark sheets and send them to the address of the students. We will also send the scanned copies of the revised mark sheets to the students through the e-mail ID of the students,” Nanda informed.
He further said the Board has fixed the rate for re-addition and re-checking. “Students who have applied for re-addition will have to pay Rs 100 for each paper while those who have applied for re-addition along with the photo copy of the answer scripts will have to pay Rs 200 for each paper,” he said, adding that the Board has decided to send the photo copy of these answer scripts within a month.
Talking to OTV, BSE president Prof Dakshya Prasad Nanda said the Board will upload the OMR scanned copies on www.indiaresults.com at 8 AM tomorrow. The OMR scanned copies will be available in the aforesaid website till midnight on May 11.
“Students willing to see their performance in the OMR test can get the details by keying in their roll numbers and the subjects in the said website. The Board has provided this facility to the students free of cost,” Nanda said.
Asked about the possibility of wrong evaluation of OMR sheets, he said the students will find no error in the evaluation. “In case there is an error, the students can contact the Controller of Examinations and Board head office,” he added.
For the subjective papers, the Board has informed the students to apply for re-addition and re-checking of their answer scripts online, Nanda said. “We have informed the students to apply online through www.indiaresults.com The process, which has begun from yesterday, will continue till midnight on May 11. We can tell the number of students who have applied online after May 11," he informed.
2,46,240 girl students have cleared the examination as compared to 2,43,482 boys.
The results were declared by School and Mass Education minister Debi Prasad Mishra in the presence of senior officials of the School and Mass Education department and Board of Secondary Education (BSE) here at 9 AM today.
“I extend by congratulations to the successful students and those who have not been successful they should remember that failure is a temporary phase. These students should not lose their balance, and should accept this failure as a challenge and move forward,” said Mishra to students.
The results were also published on the websites http://bseodisha.nic.in & http://www.indiaresults.com, albeit one hour later.
In the academic session just gone by, the average statewide success rate of Regular students is 85.2 % with Balasore emerging on top with a success rate of 92.9%.
While 715 schools have achieved 100% results, 21 have secured nil results.
33.97% students have passed with A1, A2, B1, B2 grades. 1,19,124 students have secured C grade, while 1,28,764 students have passed with D grade.
1572 students were booked for malpractice.
“5,97,237 students enrolled for the matric examinations and 5,387 for Madhyma examination. Out of these 5,86,503 students appeared for the HSC exam, while 4,896 students took the Madhyama examination. The pass rate in the regular category is 85.2% as compared to 82.56% last year. It is not that the pass percentage has increased, but also increased number of students have achieved A1, A2, B1, and B2 grades. We have been able to publish the results ahead of the schedule and I thank the board authorities for the same,” said Debi Prasad Mishra.
Commenting on the performance of schools, Mishra said “Those who are performing let them remain and those who don’t, perish. There are around 21 schools which have achieved nil results as compared to 15 schools last year. We will analyze them.”
Talking to OTV here, BSE president Prof Dakshya Prasad Nanda said a control room will be opened at the Board office premises for a week from tomorrow. “If there is any doubt about their results, the students and parents can seek clarification from the Board through this control room,” he said.
He said the Board has provided two landline numbers (0671-2412059/2412060) for contact.
Nanda said as per the schedule, the results will be announced at 9 AM at the Board’s headquarters here in the presence of School and Mass Education minister Debi Prasad Mishra and commissioner-cum-secretary of the concerned department, Ranjana Chopra.

Asked how the Board has managed to announce the results before schedule, Nanda attributed it to the good work done by the district administration, police administration, the teachers engaged in the valuation and last but not the least, the entire staff of the Board. “It is not a one-man show. It is team work which has made it possible for the Board to announce the results before schedule,” he pointed out.
He said adoption of new methods by the Board this has helped in the early announcement of results.
“This year, we had made arrangements to send the subjective marks of the students from the valuation centres to the result processing firms online. By adopting this new method, we have not only saved time, but also ensured that there will be error-free results,” Nanda informed.

“The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) has informed that online evaluation of HSC examination papers was concluded today and the results would be tentatively announced in the first week of May,” School and Mass Education minister Debi Prasad Mishra told media persons in Bhubaneswar today.
Talking to OTV, BSE president Prof Dakshya Prasad Nanda said the evaluation had begun on March 11 at 67 evaluation centres in which about 16,000 teachers were engaged.
He said the Board, for the first time, had made arrangements to send the papers evaluated online to the result processing firms for which data entry operators were engaged in each evaluation centre.
“Besides, the Board had engaged one chief examiner and three deputy chief examiners in each evaluation centre while steps were taken for error-free evaluation,” he added.
As many as 6,01,348 students had appeared in the examinations in 2,882 centres in the state.
The examinations had begun on February 22 and concluded on March 4.
For the first time, the list of the teachers who will examine the HSC papers will be available online. The board will not send any letters regarding appointment of examiners, added Nanda.
This year 16,000 teachers will be employed for the evaluation process. Total 58,123 teachers of 8,233 schools had registered online with the BSE, Odisha.
The School and Mass Education minister Debi Prasad Mishra said, “We have created squads at all places for smooth conduct of examinations and the district administrations have also engaged supervisors for the same. Even the BDOs and Tehsildars have also included in the teams overseeing the examinations. The administration is keeping a tab on the proceedings here at the control room and I will visit Bhadrak and Balasore districts. We have made special arrangements in Maoist-infested areas and police patrolling is done. The concerned district administration has been given the responsibility to monitor the situation. Moreover, senior police officials have also spoken to the concerned collectors and SPs in this regard.”
Commenting on the agitating teachers who are conducting the exams wearing black badges, the minister said that I want them to discharge their duties properly and help in effective management of the exams.
The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) had informed yesterday that all preparations were complete for smooth conduct of the examination.
“We have told the centre superintendents to open the OMR sheet packets much earlier and check whether the number of OMR sheets sent by the Board is equal to the number of students or less. This year, we have sent 25 additional OMR sheets to each centre. Apart from this, we have kept 300 additional sheets in each nodal centres. Despite this, if there is a shortage of OMR sheets, the concerned superintendents have been asked to immediately contact either the District Education Officer (DEO) or the Board headquarters,” informed BSE president Prof Dakshya Prasad Nanda
On the possibility of shortage of question papers, the BSE president said the Board has instructed the centre superintendents to immediately check the label on the question paper packets mentioning the total number of question papers allotted to the centre. If they feel that there is shortage of question papers, they should immediate inform the DEO, the nodal officer or the Board headquarters.
“I hope there would be no shortage of question papers as the Board has kept additional question papers in the district nodal centres,” Nanda said
