Alliance with BJD will stall Odisha's aspiration for a BJP government
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief, Sarat Pattanayak on Thursday took a jibe at the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) saying that the ruling party will make an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) not for the interest of the state but for own benefits.
After joining BJD, Mohapatra addressed the media, saying, “I have been serving the people of Patkura since 2019. I felt I needed a platform from where I could contribute to the area’s development. I had discussed with the voters of Patkura, and took the blessings of my father before taking this decision.”
At Soro in Balasore, MLA Parsuram Dhada accompanied by his supporters celebrated Biju Babu’s birth anniversary sidelining his own party leader and a ticket hopeful, Shibani Shankar Ray. On the other hand, Ray and scores of party workers separately organised another programme.
As the political parties have already started preparations for the upcoming big political battles, aspiring candidates in constituencies across Odisha aren’t lagging behind as well.
“It is the struggle of a weak, tortured and humiliated woman. A powerful former minister brought me to the street. I appeal to women and girls of Buguda, Polasara and Kabisuryanagar areas not to vote for a ‘depraved, immoral and tyrant’ leader in the upcoming elections,” she lamented.
Recently, Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi and former minister Debasis Nayak joined the BJP after quitting BJD. Similarly, sitting Chilika MLA Prashant Jagdev also joined the BJP in Bhubaneswar recently.
Meanwhile, Routray has refuted any kind of resentment in BJD in Paradip.
